  1. he's so coooool Surf city at the DZ this weekend. The brush of shame saw much activity on the downwind side. This was the sunday sunset swoop.
  2. yeah...Hybrid!!!! i'll be in the base... why don't you come on out to Hollister this weekend Can we do this after the RW record, we can set a dz.com hybrid record, give us freeflyers a chance to get in the record books?
  3. It's not all about the size, it's about quality and experience, the Hollister fridge has served for many years and handles huge quantities of beer on a weekly basis, it has proven that it can manage the drinking habits of skydivers, it has beer energy and even when it is empty there you can still see the ghosts of the all the beers that were once there, thinking about it brings tears to my eyes. Absolutely almost every beer is good, except for the odd miller or bud that the odd un-schooled student brings. Maybe achieving a good beer purchase should become a requirement for an a-license. I worship the fridge, and I have to skydive to drink from it...
  4. The fridge at Hollister can hold more beer than Monterey, that makes the DZ choice a no-brainer...
  5. Huntsville, AL. -- Attempting to pacify his wife Jena's incessant desire for verbal interaction, area husband Chris Woodman pretended to give a shit Tuesday as his wife of six years initiated and dominated a series of prolonged dialogues regarding an array of unrelated, unimportant subjects. According to Woodman, the thoroughly pointless conversation - which comprehensively detailed his wife's work day, lunch experience, plans for the evening and friend's relationship difficulties - took place in the living room of the couple's Lafayette home at approximately 6 p.m., shortly after Woodman began watching television in an effort to unwind from work. "I love my wife, but Jesus, does she like to talk sometimes," said Woodman, 30, who works as a field technician for a local civil engineering firm. "I wanted to just come home [from work] and chill out for awhile, but Jena immediately launches into these long, boring stories about what happened at work and what's going on with a friend of hers and a bunch of other stuff. I just tried to act like I was paying attention and hoped it wouldn't go on too long." Occasionally retorting with such all-purpose conversation perpetuators as "That's nice, honey" and "No kidding? Huh," Woodman pretended to give a shit about his wife's exhaustively detailed personal accounts until just after 6:45 p.m., when Jena was forced to interrupt the one-sided exchange to receive a telephone call from her longtime friend Nelly Smith. "Saved by the bell, I guess you'd say," Woodman jokingly explained, adding that he used the brief interruption to exit the room and seek solace behind some cardboard boxes in the basement, where he remained for several hours. Woodman acknowledged that although the lengthy, expendable conversation depleted a good amount of his after-work leisure time, the 45 minutes spent maintaining a convincing, give-a-shit veneer was not a complete waste. "I was able to give some thought to a few things I hadn't had time for," said Woodman, who admitted to mentally drifting "light-years away" from his wife's inane banter. "While Jena was busy carrying on about God-knows-what, I was trying to figure out the significance of a couple of scenes from the movie Memento, which we had rented a few nights back. I think I've got most of [the plot] figured out now." In addition to analyzing the storyline of the 2001 feature, Woodman mentally planned the couple's upcoming camping trip and also reminisced about his 1996 bachelor party weekend in Las Vegas - all the while remembering to nod, say "Yeah," and display other characteristics indicative of a person who is giving a shit. Woodman said he often pretends to give a shit about what his wife says. "Somebody - a guy - once told me that women tend to work things out in their heads by talking things out, so most of the time it isn't really necessary to listen to everything a woman says," said Woodman. "It's been my experience that the theory usually holds true. So I tend to just keep my mouth shut and let her talk herself out." Added Woodman: "Besides, if something's really important to her, I'll pick up on it right away because she'll be yelling. Then it's time to get involved in what I'm sure she feels is an extremely important conversation." After six years of marriage, Woodman said he feels that his willingness to pretend to give a shit about what his wife says is vital to the health of their relationship. "If I didn't sit there in total silence, staring off into the distance but occasionally grunting out an 'Oh yeah?' or a "No kidding,' Jena would probably start to think we have a communication problem," said Woodman. "Sure, I could just walk out of the room when she starts barking out her meaningless ramblings, but that would be equivalent to just coming right out and saying that she's boring me." "I pretend to give a shit because I care," Woodman added.
  6. Couldn't agree more, I just downsized from a 150 spectre to 135 siletto after several hundred jumps, only cost me 50 bucks + shipping. You'll have plenty of time to "go small" when you have more jumps and it does not cost much if you choose a canopy that keeps it value well. _Am
  7. Get a haircut. and the M will fit.
  8. Yes you're COOL Correct, no show until you have completed one unit. You don't have to stay on-line, you just need to go online when it has finished the work unit. Just leave your PC on.
  9. yeh it is, one of my few hobbies that cost more than skydiving
  10. Good point, you might want to put a "no naked flame" warning on the chair for a day or so.
  11. That must be bad, even when mine are really bad and my girlfriend leaves I usually don't have a problem staying with it. It's when you've been farting all day and you go out and come back and the smell is still in the air hours later that you know you have a problem. I'd check your chair and make sure you havn't stained it.
  12. I could be wrong on this but I think that while they have resigned from their government positions, they are still elected officials and so entitled to vote against this issue - which they probably will do Genie You are correct, they still get to vote. It's going to be a close one, but I expect it will get through.
  13. The opposition is actually giving him more support than his own party... He is sort of the equivelent of a democrat, the opposition "the republicans" fully support the action.

    So sad....

Although I don't think our leaders are being totally honest about the reasons for this war, I do reluctantly support the action being taken by the UK, USA and the other Allies. I do think it is very very sad that it has come to this, but time is up and we are going to remove a very evil man from Iraq and maybe make life better in the long run. However what I can't understand is the gung-ho joy that some people seem to be taking at the impending death and destruction about to occur in Iraq. I think this kind of attitude is perverse and sick and is a sad reflection on our society.
  15. So if you have termites in your house and they get into your gear they will be farting all the way to altitude, I guess this explains the mystery farts that no-one will claim, I always thought it was a chcik who didn't want to own up.
  16. True, if it is one of mine I don't have any issue with spreading the love.
  17. I've found that opening the door just ensures that everyone else in the plane gets to sample the aroma of butt.
  18. The USA was a bit slow on getting involved in this one, I think they were shamed into helping out their NATO allies who were really concerned about having peace in Europe, but this is not altogether suprising when you consider that Serbia doesn't have any oil wells and they make even worse cars than Ford and GM. flame me.........
  19. We should make it into the top 100 in about 6 months!!!!! We need more help from everyone else at dz.com Some of those things take ages, I've got 3 PCs, my home one and 2 at work, two of them have been running for 4 days without completing one unit.
  20. It's pouring outside in northern CA
  21. So far Cessna, 182 & 2something Cessna caravan Skyvan Otter Casa King air TurboLet 410 The case and skyvan are fun for the rear exit, I've only jumped those on special occasions. The otters and turbolet are great because they have a huge door to lanch out of and they go slower than the king air. The King air rocks cause it gets to altitude so damn fast and our pilot rocks. The caravan is cool 'cause its the most comfortable, has a big door and slow jump run. An the little cessnas are quiet and you can get some zzz's on the way to altitude if they are not too full. Hard to pick the best they all have good points, I'd probably choose the otter and the king air.
  22. You missed swooping out. Swooping rocks, although a sunset flock beats a perfectly timed swoop for me.
  23. Well you beat me, 73, I guess I need to start doing drugs
  24. Someone sent this to me and I found it so side splittingly funny that I had to post it. There was a Frenchman, an Englishman and Claudia Schiffer sitting together in a carriage in a train going through Provence. Suddenly the train went through a tunnel and as it was an old style train, there were no lights in the carriages and it went completely dark. Then there was a kissing noise and the sound of a really loud slap. When the train came out of the tunnel, Claudia Schiffer and the Englishman were sitting as if nothing had happened and the Frenchman had his hand against his face as if he had been slapped there. The Frenchman was thinking: 'The English fella must have kissed Claudia Schiffer and she missed him and slapped me instead.' Claudia Schiffer was thinking: 'The French fella must have tried to kiss me and actually kissed the Englishman and got slapped for it.' And the Englishman was thinking: 'This is great. The next time the train goes through a tunnel I'll make another kissing noise and slap that French bastard again.'
