I don't know where the hell you live but I can assure you that kids in Florida are never looking forward to going back. During the summer months I had more time to travel. We could charter a boat for deep sea fishing and goto the Bahamas. Takes around 30-50 min off the coast. Went to Mexico one year to Surf. Went on a cruise one summer. I know personally I never looked forward to going back. I enjoyed life. I guess it all depends on if you know how to enjoy yourself as to whether or not you enjoy going back. If you are a bump on a log then going back to school might be exciting. I saw it as taking away from my adventures. I could skip school back then and still pass. I am an adult now so skipping work is not an option. You just get fired. Maybe someday I will find a decent job that will let me take off without pay and still keep my job. Laters, . Like SkyMama said the downside would be the drive. I live at Z-Hills. Well, right off the end of the runway in a condo. This time of year is always iffy with the weather. If you drove down Saturday night it might be good. Then you could get the morning jumping in and when it starts to rain head on back. The other risk is that at this time of year there is not a bunch of people there; just the locals mostly. Therefore for someone with your level of experience it will be a flip of the coin on people to work with. I reccomend Oren or Nigel. If I was able to jump I would go out there with ya. The only reason the military is rough; because they make a whole day affair for one single jump. An average military jump takes around 6 Hours. Of course we go through briefs and Basic Airborne Refresher (B.A.R.) Basically every time we jump we go through handling hazards and what to do for each situation. Landing. Doing P.L.F.'s. I still enjoy military jumping even though I recently cracked my femur. we jump in winds that I usually do not jump in with the sport. Hey, That is the ARMY for ya. Personally I can say that it has not happened to me. I have been blessed with women who are faithful and I am to them. I agree. We have been in the sport about the same amount of time and have seen many bad things. I do not condone the behavior I was just throwing out some ideas and thoughts. I know an instructor who spent all his money for his wife to goto nationals and she proceeded to cheat. He is an awesome hardworking guy too. I could not believe that one. Oh yeah he supported all her jumps. SHe did not work. What gratitude huh? In reality though I do believe it happens more to women then men. Either way it is not right. It sucks! Laters K . Maybe women are just giving back what they have gotten for so many years? I am not saying it is right but that could be the reason. Women were deemed pretty much servants for so long that now they are seeing the light. Just a thought. . This is a very small community. If you cannot handle seeing your former with another then don't do it. I have a good repor with my former. The thing I cannot stand is instructors who date thier students. I hate to hear that. That just shows how some DZ's do not care for their students. I always explained what I could and if I was pressed for time I gave my students the DZ website to learn more about what the next step would be. I will add to what Kelly said here. Many people are not 100% sure they want to come into the sport. Under that rationale why would anyone want to spend 6-8 hrs in a classroom get up to altitude and not be able to jump? I always suggest that a student does a tandem first to get comfortable with the door and all that goes on. Not to mention it is only 20-min class. The sport is expensive as it is so one tandem to start is not really putting you that much more out. I know I have spent more than $200 on a night out in town. I personally went Static-Line because it is what the dz I was at then could do easily. I went with another perosn but they could never do the second jump. Weather made it difficult for me to jump. I will say that S/L will definitely build your confidence and prepare you for exiting a plane. I hated crawling out on that strut to hang. I would not change anything though because I have had many good years in the sport and met some really fun people. I am going to return to instructing myself. I enjoy bringing the sport to others.

As a Tandem guy myself I want to Thank both of ya'll for your experienced insight. I wish more instructors felt this way in the sport. Too many times I see people who are only after monetary gain instead of taking care of the student. Making it what it is; an experience for the student.
