The master of disaster is here! The man that knows more about pain and surgeries than almost anyone on here. Does he have just one rod? Or did they stick another in the neck & head of the femur? I have two rods in my right leg from my most recent break. I am just over 4-Months. The recovery is slow. Tell him not to rush it. Let it come naturally. Listen to the physical therapists. (Physical Terrorists! ) According to my current Doc who treats U.F. Gator players I should be able to be back in full action in two months. Might want to get him a stress ball for the pain. I use them. It helps a little. Tell him to get out in the sun. It helps the bone heal. The recovery will be slow and painful. There is no doubt. Where did he break it? Mine was near the greater Trochanter. Let him know that there will most likely be an unusual pain down the front of his leg. This is normal and from the metal in the middle of the bone. There will be a groin pain as well. Possibly an issue with his IT band. It runs on the side of the leg attached at the hip and just below the knee. For those who do not know: Femurs usually do not get casted. The rod is what assists in the healing process. I do like the cheerleader idea though. That would definitely help any male. You could get something that size around Z-Hills. I live 4-miles from the DZ in a condo right now but am looking at buying some acerage before it is all gone. Well, we do not know the details of her training. Maybe it was not properly explained to her. Maybe someone without an instructor rating misguided her. Yes, we should seek out the best source but as a young jumper how are they to be positive sometimes. There are some shakey instructors out there. I think that she should have been talked to by Staff & Staff only. It should be the responsibility of the Intstructors of every DZ to look out for the young jumpers.
