Quoteyou may have been putting it out of proportion ***not to be nasty, but you were not there. As I've already stated, the whole situation was enough that I'll tell everyone I run into not to go there.Yes, that's extreme, but so was nastiness I encountered there. This little "incident" was approx. 3 years ago. Also, as I've already stated, I had only 100 jumps and had never been to another DZ. I filled out all of the paperwork given to me at manifest. As far as I'm concerned, it's not my job as a new skydiver to make sure she's done her job correctly. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

meh, I went there once. I had a hundred jumps and had never been to a different DZ. I went to the office and filled out all of the paperwork the office girl gave me, rented a rig (junk) and boarded the airplane. At about 10,000ft the pilot yelled "who's Lopez? You didn't fill out a waver!" He then proceeded to tell me that if I jumped from his airplane that I had better not kill myself. After an uneventful jump and landing, the DZO came out to the landing area to scream at me in front everyone at the DZ. He seemed to think it was my fault and not that of his office personnel that I didn't fill out all of the proper paperwork. Needless to say I was very embarrased. I will never go there again, and I will tell everyone I know not to go there. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

If you are in the business of renting parachute gear, you should be prepared to cover any costs associated with it's use. Unless someone does something blatantly stupid (IE,cigarette burns), it's your baby.If for some reason I had to rent gear and used the reserve, I would tell you to F-off if you tried to make me pay for the repack. I know of a dealer who had a renter destroy a main canopy by taking a ride on a motorcycle ( it got caught in the chain). To the best of my knowledge, this person was not charged for the damage. even though your wingload would be very light, it's still a big step in canopy sizes. I think you would probably be OK, but I'm sure most experienced jumpers and instructors would tell you to make an effort to step down at a more moderate pace. You have to take into account your level of uncurrency, and the fact that you have very little canopy experience. If there are not canopies available at your DZ, maybe you should call around and see who may be able to send you a demo in a larger size. Maybe it's time for a trip to a larger DZ. so what? what makes an audible alti any less reliable than an analog. people argue that batteries die. Mine let's me know when my batteries are going dead. The other day I bitched at some dude for pulling low. I then found out that my anolog alti was way wrong. I was very embarrased. It really shouldn't matter what type of alti you choose to wear, as long as you know where the dirt is. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

I voted yes, but I don't read this forum for the standard reasons. I personally get a kick out of how seriously you guys take yourselves.I've never seen such an intense group of people. I guess I just don't have the energy to spend half of my life running around in the dark, and the other half making sure no-one finds out about it. I'd love to make some base jumps, but the reward just does'nt seem worth the effort. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

maybe it's just me but I don't seem to have a problem judging height in my Bolle's.They make everything crisp and clear. Maybe I'm still relying on my sight picture? Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

I suggest you have a talk with Mr. Germain before making any final decisions on packing. He has some interesting things to say. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

I don't have one. I wouldn't mind having one but in all reality I'm simply too damn cheap to spend to spend $1100 on something I'll probably never use. It's not something I really think about until someone brings up the subject. On the other hand, when I found a great deal on a used Cypres, I bought it immediatly and put it in my girlfriends' rig. If there's someone out there who wants to give me one I'll gladly install it in my rig Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

QuoteI doubt that is done in extreme pro sports like F1, NASCAR, drag racing, where the individual life is on the line. ------------------------------------------------------------ I once read an interview with Dale Earnhardt SR. Apparently it's not uncommon for some of those guys, Dale included, to take a cocktail of meds before a long race. The article made mention of both pain killers and muxcle relaxers. I AM NOT AN AFF INSTRUCTOR that being said, the purpose of both backloops and frontloops is to get the students unstable, thereby forcing them to become stable again. it teaches them to relax and arch after an unstable situation. Correct me if I'm wrong? Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

regularly jumping a round reserve ??
towerrat replied to piisfish's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
not a freakin' chance dude. I'd like to have a say in where I land. I don't see why todays jumper would feel compelled to jump outdated gear when it's not necessary. My first reserve was a PD176 that only cost me $450 Play stupid games, win stupid prizes! -
