    At about 250 jumps I left a helicopter at 5,000ft. I was in the saddle under my Sabre at about 900ft. At about 300 jumps I downsized and went elliptical at the same time ( Ron was irritated ). I put about three jumps before I hooked it, lost control and left a giant skidmark through another jumpers brand new canopy.I saw him but didn't think I could swoop that far, I was wrong.I scared the hell out of both of us, an he was pretty pissed (rightfully). He has since forgiven me. At around 500 jumps, I went with a highly experienced jumper to land in a place I had never seen before Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

    ya know, at the risk of giving a cookie cutter answer, no-one here can really help you.Have you been through Bill Von's list? Not to sound condescending, but with only fifty jumps, you should be talking to your instructors, not just a bunch of jackasses on some on-line forum.risers can be great fun, and I've been having a fantastic time learning high performance landings, but make no mistake, you can DIE.Take a canopy course from a professional canopy course, it will be worth your time and effort Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

    I'm going for surgery at 9am to have my some hardware installed on my wrist ( external fixiter). Wish me luck please! I'll try and post the x-rays when I can get them. I don't think I've ever been quite so nervous...... Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

    Sunday night I fell off of my kid's go-cart and completely crushed my wrist. The surgeon wants to install some external rigging ( read: erector set ) on my wrist and hand for a couple of months. I'm going to seek a second oppinion today, but am curious if anyone here has any experience with this type of injury and how did it turn out. The doctor said my wrist looks like " a bag of broken bones " Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

    I have also heard that, unfortunately in my limited experience, it hasn't worked. It actually made my openings worse due to a tendency to oversteer. Some highly experienced pilots told me to make sure my feet and knees are together and watch the horizon. It has worked wonders for my openings. I truly believe that it's all about body position. Unfortunately, no matter who you are, if you jump highly loaded ellipticals you are bound to get a spinner some day no matter what you do.     I bought a sabre 170 as my first canopy and was nothing but pleased with it. I bought it used with a pocket slider already installed. I put more than 300 jumps on it and never had a problem. I had one slammer opening, but, it was packed by a "helpful" jumper. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

    ya know, I kinda got a problem with this. I agree to a point that we should all look out for each other.But for me, priority number one is to look out for myself. I'll take a look if I'm going with newer jumpers, but for the most part I'm concerned with my own gear. I know I'll get flamed for this, but I really don't concern myself with other peoples gear. I'll do pin checks if asked, and if your chest strap is in my face I'll look at it. Other than that, you're on your own. I check my chest strap , leg straps, three rings and pin twice before I exit. If you aren't checking your equipment, that's your problem. Let's take a little responsibility for our own actions ( or lack thereof). Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!
