    Ok, I've been looking into a few deals here and there to make my first jump. I really won't know if it's my thing or not until I make a jump or three. So why does it cost $1200 to make 1 stinkin' jump. Like I said, I may or may not want to continue, I really don't know until I check it out. It just seems like a lot of dough to throw away if it's not for me. I just need a mentor, but it seems everyone is out to make a bunch of money.....maybe it's just me.     wow that's creepy. Ya know there are more than a few tales about Ballast Point. I grew up down there, so I've spent a lot of time on Bayshore.I've always gotten a little creeped out by the park at night time. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

Amazingly enough, I'd never had to replace a brake light switch in the last 5 years on that vehicle, and who knows how long before I had the truck. It was bullshit, I was pretty pissed.     alright, I'll get my uncle to show me how to get back out there again, as it's waaaay back in the woods. We'll go at night, for the extra ambiance. I really don't believe in this type of bullshit either, and if I hadn't been there myself, I'd call someone a liar for telling me this story. The stone being put back up really isn't the thing that made the impression on me. 2 or 3 healthy fellows could put it back. It was the immediate feeling of sheer, unadulterated,panic, the likes of which I had never felt before, that really got me. There was really no reason for it, and I can't explain it. It's not like I was a little kid when this happened. I was pretty close to 18 or 19 years old. I hadn't been drinking either. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

    I got pounded pretty good here in Lakeland. I would estimate a steady 50 with gusts of 75 or so. All the trees stayed put, but I was beginning to wonder. I spoke with PLF during the storm. He said there were three structure fires as we spoke, but no crews could get to them until the wind died down.(Paul is with the Lakeland Fire Department).100 people have been injured in a retirement home, and several structures have been destroyed. The eye of the storm passed very close to Lake Wales, and my guess would be of significant damage out there, although this is only speculation. 86mph gusts were recorded at Orlando International in the last 20 minutes or so, you guys hang on to your hats.     there's an abandoned graveyard in the middle of the woods outside of Z-Hills. Supposedly, one of the graves belongs to a witch. The stone is in two pieces, a large stone block with a several hundred pound stone cross on top. Let me remind you that this yard is abandoned and extremely overgrown, and in the middle of nowhere. If you push the cross off of the block, you can come back the next day and it will be righted.I know personally that it works. Upon pushing the cross from the block, I was overcome completely and totally with an almost paralyzing fear. After several seconds, I broke free and started to run. Even though I knew it was there and saw it, I could not stop myself from running into the old rusty barbed wire surrounding the yard. I was severly cut up, and tanged in the wire. I finally got free, and I ran. We came back early the next day, and the cross was back on the stone where I had pushed it from. I didn't sleep well for the next several days.     It always amazes me that no matter what goes on today, it is always outdone by something in the seventies. The parties are hard, if that is what you are looking for, it's just got a different vibe.I think people these days don't feel quite so much like they're making their last jump, if that makes sense. Although I wasn't there, I always get the feeling some of the old timers were fully expecting to burn in at any given time, and it showed when they were on the dirt.. While jumpers themselves haven't gotten much safer, equipment has, and I think it shows around the bonfire. I don't know, but I don't think we'll ever regain that vibe, and maybe that's good.
