  1. We just moved to a community with numerous roundabouts and I'm very pleased with them. I rarely have to stop. Those tentative drivers do irk me too, but that's life. I do wish people would use their turn signals to show they are exiting the roundabout. That would improve the traffic flow even more. In general, I'm always dumbfounded and disgusted by how many drivers are too inconsiderate to use their turn signals.
  2. So the ladies will only condescend to speak to the guy if they first kick him to the curb by assuring him that he has 'no chance'? But in all other situations what the f**k is wrong with him thinking he has a chance? It IS quite the conundrum. That's why there are so many books on "how to pick up women." Most guys just need to slow down and be a little more genuine. It helps to also realize that big guys can be a real physical threat to women. Chat lightly, keep them at ease, and tell them you'd love to go out with them sometime. And smile. Women, am I on the right track?
  3. Sashay? Nope, I stride in a manly fashion.
  4. Damn, you've seen some weird stuff working in the court system, haven't you? Hope he went to the Can and she went to Cancun.
  5. Guess I haven't been obvious enough. Ya need to up your game, man.
  6. Most people in this world are cool. But there's just enough men and women with issues to cause trouble for the rest of us from time to time. With guys, yeah, nature favors the dude that doesn't give up easily. It's just some guys can't figure out they don't have a chance with one woman or another, and they think doubling down will fix it. Not to mention the "creepy" factor of it all. I hear guys saying "Why are all good lucking women so unfriendly?" I tell them "Because if they smile at you even a little, you go bugging them, thinking you have a 'chance'".
  7. Good advice right there. 7 people can all watch out for one novice. So can 9. It's pretty hard for 19 people to do so, though. I heard Andy Farrington went last out and docked on a 20 way for his 12th or 13th jump when he was 16. The kid's pretty good.
  8. Happy Birthday, Girl. Ain't it great?
  9. Go with "honored." I'll probably never make it to "meme" status, esp. on a site aimed at hot women.
  10. Very cool. 400 jumps a year is a great pace. I've never managed more than 250 a year. But I'm retired now and looking to simplify my life and jump more. Hope to top 3-400 this year.
  11. Cool! Air Force Academy? That's how they used to train. My first was S/L round. That's all they had in '74 for FJC's.
  12. I had one of those on my first jump, 28' cheapo. Me with a nut under is like a giraffe with a sore throat. Pretty damn serious. I'm actually surprised I ever made a second jump.
  13. I've seen several nude night pond swoops at Elsinore. Haven't done it myself, though.
  14. That's a very good article. Thanks for the link. I liked this quote, pretty much what I tell people about flaring too high. "‘Wait’ means stop pulling the toggles down as soon as you realise you’ve started flaring too high. Save the rest of the flare for later. ‘Keep it straight’ is important. Look at a point on the ground out in front of you and keep the canopy flying straight toward that point. When the canopy starts to drop you back toward the ground, just before your feet touch down, push the toggles down and FINISH your flare, as we see in the video. In most cases doing this will result in a reasonably soft, stand-up landing"
  15. Sorry, Peter. I'm a retired old fart who's looking for lazy investments. That sounds like too much work.
  16. Super questionable taste. Sounds like people were laughing.
  17. Yep, that's the essence of good leadership right there. I hope the many people you deal with will remember and emulate your example.
  18. Yeah, although it would be dripping behind you, I think, or straight up as your rate of descent increased. I'd make sure to chop before I lost all drag on the risers. I'd probably disconnect the RSL on that one.
  19. Wow, I concur. 2 thoughts . . .. Everyone knows that a British accent makes statements seem more intelligent. Suddenly I'm convinced that Australian accents make everything seem more fun. . . And I thought it was cool that they had a DZ for their bigways that looked just like Eloy.
  20. I've got a few dozen tandems out of one of those. It climbed well on take off and first couple of minutes, but then the pilot had to throttle back to stay in operating guidelines. Kind of curious for a turbine, no? We'd only go to 10,500 with the tandems out of that plane. Easy exits but lots of wind for floaters. CG was very far to the rear. That sometimes worried me.
