  1. Sorry we're gonna miss ya, unless you want to swing by the North Shore on the way home. We got room for ya. Have a great time in Eloy.
  2. I'm pretty much a very lucky guy on that one.
  3. There is nothing so wonderful in our sport as having a rig you feel comfortable with.
  4. Similar thing with broccoli, I've heard. George Bush Sr. banned brocolli from Air Force 1 and the White House, I heard.
  5. Do you remember this F-15 that made it home missing a wing?
  6. When I was first learning RW and going low, two instructors showed me how to de-arch to get back up. We promptly went up and I went low on their two way base-pin. I threw down a huge skinny-teenage kid de-arch and slammed into the 2 way from underneath, throwing them both into backloops. My head was down and I didn't even see what happened. . . After we landed they added "Oh yeah, turn sideways to the formation before you dearch." Considering all the dumb stuff I've done in freefall, I'm lucky not to have too many hugely embarrassing stories.
  7. Well hell, I think most of us know that feeling. I hope you feel better soon.
  8. That was great. Thanks for sharing. I love seeing kids in music programs. Several of my children were, and the benefits are huge. Too bad music classes are some of the first things to get cut in budget squeezes.
  9. Same here. Many veggies I didn't care for. But some of it was the 60's style cook-til-mush recipes. Raw spinach in a salad or folded into an omlette, yes.
  10. Damn, and I have left over percoset from my last broken bone.
  11. Depends on the type of airspace. Tell the pilot your intentions and he can handle the ATC stuff. LP they often do 2 twin otters, so almost 50. The visuals are great.
  12. Quite alright. She DOES let me drive her everywhere.
  13. The true measure of if you're doing it right or not is your partner's response, not some bar graph of thrusts-per-minute.
  14. I still have just the minivan hauling my gear and my ass to the DZ, and all my tools out to real estate jobs. We're traveling a bunch and working on selling our former house, so I just haven't felt like car shopping. I have the $$$ in the bank for when I get around to it, but in the meantime it's just a low priority. Besides, Vskydiver still lets me drive her Fiat everywhere.
  15. Well, Vskydiver and I spent 10 days down in AZ, skydiving and visiting friends, in January, just before the Superbowl. We rented convertible Camaro and I think I had more fun that I thought I would with it. Of course, being a rental car it has GPS tracking to make sure you don't go to Mexico, etc. I got it up to 95 passing a truck one day and was afraid I'd trigger some penalties. Luckily not.
  16. Ahh, that's Fat Mike from NOFX, "The Idiots Are Taking Over" Not Green Day. Blink 182. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kqLVeP7iHA Definitely Fat Mike. Wiki credits him with the writing the song. I'll have to look for the Blink 182 version. We've seen them a couple of times, always fun. They really don't suck live.
  17. Damn. I'm glad she's happy with her body the way it is, but maybe that's a little delusional. I mean really, tugging 400+ pounds thru life?
  18. Ahh, that's Fat Mike from NOFX, "The Idiots Are Taking Over". One of my favorites. I carry health insurance and try to stay healthy. Yet I'm continually stuck with subsidizing uninsured people who make bad life choices or just have the misfortune to fall ill. Should we kick them into the gutter? I don't use medicaid or unpaid ER visits. Why should I pay a dime for them? You don't have children so you don't use parks? Really? Put away those jogging shoes, frisbees, mountain bikes, and basketballs. I see a lot of childless people in parks. Open spaces and recreation benefit all of us. You'll be old some day, if you're lucky. Who's gonna bring you your meds in the old folks home? My kids, or maybe their kids. I bet you'll wish they went to school and can read a pill bottle. The tax write off for children is a worth maybe $700/year to most households. Is that really too much to help out families? The zero deduction, available to childless couples and couples with children is worth about $3500/ year. How about we get rid of that? No tax structure is "fair". It all depends on your point of view. Our society has determined that strong families and a helping hand to parents is beneficial to our community. Like I said, I never got preferential treatment at work for being a father, nor did I expect it.
  19. Go to the multiplex. Slip in and watch it after seeing a movie worth paying for.
  20. Do you remember back when there were no annual fees to "renew" your ratings? That was the case 30+ years ago. What the hell do I get for all that extra dough I pay in every year? I always felt it was a slap in the face to all of us that built their membership base for them.
  21. Good to hear. I want to see it. I'm guessing somewhere between James Bond and Austin Powers?
