**your an idiot that is all.** come, come now....personal attack! Richard "Gravity Is My Friend"

the check will require an endorsement from everybody it's made out to as well. ie: lien holder, bodyshop, owner. insurance companies caught on to this quite some time ago. that is if the car is financed, in the beneficial event your car is paid for, you can do what you want with the money, but who wants to drive a 6 week old wrecked car? this is not barry's page, i don't believe, it's one i believe the rec put up, but it's no where near current, and it's not being maintained. it's been in this state for a long time. Richard "Gravity Is My Friend"

you'll be driving more than diving, looking good in the air is great, but having to drive down the road embarrased is something else again. if the car if financed (you mentioned it was six weeks old) the insurance will cut the check in the insurance company's name, sometimes the body shop's name, and yours, and they generally have an inspector come out after repairs are facilitated to make sure the money was spent on repairs to the automobile. i had a tornado hit my house not long ago, lost a 40' X 30' steel building, and the roof on my house, all of it, the insurance cut the check and i had the insurance guys all over the place, i told them "what? you think i don't want a new roof, or what?" would be nice if you could have both!

HH: in my humble opinion, it needs to be done, to be utilized solely as a training aid. sad, but true, we learn from the miss-fortune of others. Barry's page has been down for quite some time, and is not up to date at all. it's also a good statistacal device, ie: under canopy, low turn, mal, exit, etc...the story on my friend killed in feb. just now published in junes parachustists. my .02 USD. Ann: this video is tastefully edited and produced. excellent choice of background music as well. i'm impressed.

Don't Mess With Skydivers!!! Las Vegas Law Suit...

personally i do not agree with anyone trying to litigate in a time of duress. but ultimately, in the demise of society as we know it today, we are becoming a more litigous society. suing someone is more a "knee jerk" reaction, than a justice being sought for a lost, physically impaired or deceased individual. having said all of this, i would condone being reimbursed for someone who was in "obvious, or intentional negligence" again, as always, these views/thoughts/opinions are mine, and mine alone. i have been hurt seriously one time (i broke my ankle in 3 places) while on a drilling platform, they kept me on the payroll, even though i was 18 months, and 3 surgeries later getting back to normal. if more industries would react in this manner, i believe we'd have a lot of legal counsils on unemployment. (which, by the way, wouldn't hurt my feelings) i get sick and tired of seeing these "ambulane chasers" commercials on t.v. advertising on how easy they can make the rest of your life if you bring them a case, CUT ME SOME SLACK! or as John Stossil would say "gimme a break" Richard "Gravity Is My Friend" -
**Why would Icarus engineer a new canopy and name it Crossfire2** the engineers are always on a "trail and error" basis. the moniker "2" just means attempt number 2. i'm wondering what happens when (if?) number "2" doesn't work out? just like sabre, when they came out with the sabre "2" i thought to myself "what, does this mean it's not gonna "whack" me on the next opening? just one man's opinions. i do not condemn, or endorse any canopy manufacturer, although i'll say that i have a new cobalt being constructed for me right now. **All I want to do is be a father and best friend to my son.. AND I WILL... No matter what the cost..** the more of us "responseable" fathers that take this same attitude, and STOP "rolling over" for the divorce court lawyers, the better off society will be. up until now, all too often, it has been the female to get the male in the relationship to "tote the burden, financially, and emotionally" for a relationship gone bad. there is a difference between a "father, and a "dad" i know firsthand. i've been divorced since 1986, i've been denied visitation rights, rights, priviliges, etc...and all because i "did" care, she tried to get me to "sign them over" i told her to go to hell. i'm not making the statement that all women are like this, there is a lot of "deadbeat dads" out there, and i, personally, hope they all burn in hell. on the other hand, you have "fathers" that care, and do financially care for ther're children, and are more than not descriminated against, either out of "vindictive" behaviour on the ex-s part, or for some aspiring young "politically motivated" attorney general. by the way, females, generally when divorced have it wrote up in the original divorce decree that the male in the relationship pays for her attorney's fees, this is the "first thing" that needs to stop. all this does is give the female a "free ride" during a divorce procedure, and most of the times, results in the females decision to end the relationship, because it won't be a "financial burden" to them, and it's an easier "out" than to stay and work out the relationship. i know there will be different perspective on this posts, i'm braced for it. fortunately, i've got over 20 years of perspective on this very subject, i've NEVER prevailed, even to this day, my oldest 25, youngest 17 (and i raised one who is 22 now, that "came with" my wife now) who by the way, i call "Jr" anybody's that's seen me on the DZ with him, knows how close we are. i think it's high time that there should be some changes in the family courts. don't get me wrong, for the sorry moth*r fuck*r's out there who are "biological fathers" and who don't care, f ck them, they deserve what they get, BUT there's a new horizon for father's who do care, stay tuned....more to come, i only wish i could disclose the "whole story" Richard "Gravity Is My Friend"

**My best friend's wife, would like to extend a heart felt "Thank You" to us skydiver's in general and in particular those that ran the memorial in Parachutist and Skydiving for Lisa Gallagher.** this should come as no surprise to the average "joe blow" and in the future, as the "whuffo" mentality comes closer to the sky diving community, they'll see for themselves that no matter what, flame war, bad words, arguments, etc...no matter how we feel about each other, theres still the feeling that youe "one of the family" we still check each other's gear, before and after the sky dive, and none of us want to see any harm come to each other. this is a growing, and infantile sport, no matter that it's been around for years, too bad it got it's start in the military where static line on rounds at altitudes of 700' were the theme of the day. i believe that with the massive expansion of the sport, and the increased expression, and new products/gear, the more (potential) sky divers that will be influenced to "just jump" i welcome all the "whuffos" to our sport, they can only help our growth, and exposure, and be welcomed to "the family"

i'm surprised your under this impression that the "system" is sorta "equaled" out, sorry, but it's not. statistics will prove my statement is truthful. one of these days, i'll share a "horror" story with you. but i can't right now because of legal reasons. it's not the way you think at all. the only possible scenario i can think of that would cause a horse shoe mal, with the pc out would be if it was wrapped around your hand/arm/leg, other than that i can't imigine what else could cause it. enlightnen me, if you would please. Richard "Gravity Is My Friend"
-
**Who said that?** well, my name was on the post, so the rest is academic. and it is something to watch for. let's not forget (read my first post carefully) this was a training exercise with experiences jumpers. and of course we're all (hopefully) gonna attempt to pitch the pc first in a "horse shoe" mal. and how could you have a horse shoe mal with the pc out remster? Richard "Gravity Is My Friend"
-
what about a horsehoe mal? would you try to pitch your pc first? would you cut-away first? then deploy reserve? i have seen this very mal on a training video, the risers DID NOT seperate from the container. the diver had to literally fight with all his might to get the riser on the left side dissconnected, he never did get the one on the right hand side dissconnected, he deployed his reserve and saved his life. why he didn't throw his pc before cutting away? i don't know, it's a training video, the d-bag with the main still in it in this particular malfunction stunned me, it just hung around in the burble at a low spinning motion when all of this was going on. (there were two other divers flying with him, one of them flying camera, the other un-j'd his container to release his main pin for the intentional "horse shoe" mal) so don't count on your risers releasing just because you pull your cut-away handle, that was my "lesson learned" from the video. it was actually a video commercial sequence for "time out" but a very good visual training aid as well. a "bag-lock" mal, with pc out may well release the risers, and should. just thought i'd share that. i am going to observe a "moment of silence" after this posts, and pray that your friend will be delivered from his situation, whatever it is. i'm sure everything is fine, sending good karma your way to you, and your friend..... Richard "Gravity Is My Friend"

nacmac: that's because your a friggin "mick" ya bastard!

all i have to add, to what you've already been advised by learned colleagues, is either stop jumping the 170, or jump rental gear until you're ready for the 170. if there is doubt in YOUR mind about ANY scenerio that you can't handle, address it immediately...please...don't be the next statistic. i've lost 2 friends this year alone, that i dearly miss, they were exrerienced canopy pilots. more and more sky divers are losing they're lives under a perfectly good canopy, role reversal from the early 70's. in the end, it's your life, and your gear, do the right thing, we can't afford to lose another "brother" be safe, take care.

**Now I know what my future holds. I'm going to spend my kid's college education at the dropzone. I'll probably call in sick enough to get fired. My wife will think I'm having an affair (I try like hell). My credit card will get maxed.** think of it this way, free fall is better than sex anyway, and the duration climax is about the same lenth of time, enjoy yourself. when i went to my FJC, there was a 72 year old man there, who was a retired commercial airline pilot, bear in mind i'm a whuffo as well, so i ask him: "dude, why did you wait so long before making a skydive?" He replied what i have mentioned, he was a pilot, not a skydiver. he has my respect forever, for his endeavour!

**People who pass gossip suck, and people who believe gossip are fools.** this is certainly NOT directed towards anyone in particular, NOT, being the "key" word here (but i've got my nomex on just in case) i dropped into the pub last night (for the very first time, last time to) for just about 10 minutes, that's about all i could stand. yeah, it could have been worse, you could have been gravely injured, but you weren't, thank god!
