How much different type of instructors should earns?

hommie and diablopilot: please take your personal beef to PMs and keep it out of the forums. I removed the PAs - please show some self-control when you post. Arrive Safely John -

Umm . . . she posted this on April 2nd. Joke day is over. While I agree that it is best to contact the manufacturer (AAD) to get the best immediate answer to her question, it is very common for dotcommers to post their problem to see how many others have experienced the same thing - third party opinions. Nicole: At least one AAD employee is a dotcommer . . . Popovitch. You can shoot him a PM as well. Arrive Safely John

OK folks . . . let's get this thread back on topic and pull the throttle back on the emotional replies. If you have a personal beef with someone, take it to PMs. If you have an opposite viewpoint of someone else and the conversation escalates because you still disagree, please continue to discussion only if you can remain objective and keep the pointed remarks out of your posts. There have been several borderline PAs here. If there is such a thing as tunnel politics (parallel to DZ politics), please don't drag it into this forum. Thanks. Arrive Safely John

I began this journey in 1982 with an unsuccessful start as a full-time student at the University of Maine. I went a little further in 1986 going to night school at Campbell University's Ft. Bragg satetllite campus. Then I got married and had a family and school fell completely off my priority list. In November of 2004 I decided to finish what I started, taking advantage of the online distance learning format. I enrolled in a Multidisciplinary Studies degree program, and finished my course work in December of last year. My diploma arrived in the mail yesterday . . . I never set foot on the home campus in Lynchburg, VA. Such is the way of the distance learning world. Completion feels good - no matter how long the journey has been. Arrive Safely John

Happened again before the weekend (I am just now getting around to posting it). This was the worst occasion yet. Happened on 23 March @ 0610 EDT . . . forum pages would not load. Banner ads showed “Internal Server Error.” Received error in MSIE 7: Arrive Safely John

The thread is about the Skyhook. This is not an RSL or not to RSL debate, nor is it an AAD or no AAD debate. A device dependency spin is inevitable, but please focus on keeping it relevant to the original post. Dorbie & JP: please recognize that people are inevitably going to disagree here . . . continuing to bat the opposing opinion back over the net with a little heavier spin does not necessarily serve the discussion as a whole. Keep it civil, please. Arrive Safely John

This post doesn't belong here in the Incidens Forum. Reading the Forum Posting Guidelines that appeared when you clicked on the "Post New" button would have told you that. I have quoted them below for your benefit: Arrive Safely John

Maybe the Parachute Symbol was a Clue . . .

When I was learning to fly, I did a night cross-country with my instructor, Abe, starting and finishing at Moore County Airport. Camp Mackall, a stand-alone part of the Fort Bragg military reservation, is almost due south of Moore County, so he told me to fly over the top as a reference and pick up a northerly heading to take me straight to Moore County. Now, Mackall Army Airfield's airspace ends at 2900 feet, and is only in effect when the tower is open (normally only during the day). Abe told me that the tower was closed, and we were above their airspace anyway, so I was perfectly legal to overfly the airport. I told Abe that I personally have made high altitude MFF jumps at Camp Mackall at night, and I would not overfly the area unless I called someone. Fort Bragg Range Control monitors MAAF's CTAF when the tower is closed, so I called them to ensure a safe passage. Abe made a note to do the same with all of his students. I was amazed that this was not common knowledge. Arrive Safely John -

Attempted exit of aircraft with seatbelt still attached
slotperfect replied to peek's topic in Safety and Training
Back when I was a GK, we picked up two UV-20 Porters from the recently deactivated Berlin Brigade. They spent most of my first year getting them painted and training the pilots, but that fall we started jumping it. It had no benches - we sat on the floor, and secured ourselves with long military type seatbelts that would go across a row of people sitting side by side. After unhooking we would run the released belt under our legs and hook them back together again so they wouldn't sneak out and beat up the aircraft. We were training at Raeford that fall, and I walked out of the snack bar to hear a hard opening overhead, followed by a scream. I looked up to see one ParaFoil 282 among the demo canopies, which I knew belonged to Neal Beverly (I saw him get on the plane wearing it). He came in and landed beside the tuffet (unusual) and on his ass, followed shortly by some writhing around and calls for a medic. Turns out Neal had unknowingly hooked his foot under one of the re-attached seatbelts and exited that way, and had dangled under the aircraft. Jose Pruneda, a private pilot, had been flying right seat for fun on that lift, and simply got up and released the belt, freeing Neal. I am not a believer in coincidence - Bob Giaccone had been flying the Porter alone all day until that lift. Jose's being there kept Bob from having to land the plane with Neal hanging, which he told us he had planned to do next to the helipad at Womack Army Hospital as a last resort (he would have gotten in, but not out again). Neal had a badly broken ankle and was out for a while. We ended up making a mat for the floor of the Porter, which we were then able to shove the released seatbelts under to eliminate the risk of another towed jumper, and keep them from beating up the plane. Of course, the mat brought up another issue when jumping smoke . . . but that is another story! Arrive Safely John -
PM dalailama. He has an ash bag that I have personally seen used. It is designed for releasing all the ashes, but could easily be scaled down so the same concept is applied to a smaller amount. Arrive Safely John

We found out Wednesday that my son Logan, a high school sophomore, was one of two AFJROTC cadets from his high school to be selected to attend AFJROTC Aerospace and Technology Honors Camp. He is one of 447 to be selected out of 107,000 applicants. There are several locations around the country for this national level camp. Logan's camp is at Tinker AFB and the University of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City. To sweeten the pot, one of his best friends, son of our closest family friends, was the other cadet selected. It's going to be a great summer for them . . . Arrive Safely John

Hello all, Since Chuck (SkymonkeyONE) stepped down from his Moderator post, this forum has done without for a while. Sangiro asked me if I would step in and help out, and I am happy to oblige. Most of you know me from other forums, but I thought I would pop up and say hello. I am certainly not an authority on Wind Tunnels, but I do have a bit of experience using them for various training and testing purposes. I don't log flight hours, but here's my short list of experience for your reference: -Flyaway Pigeon Forge, TN: about 3 hours -Ft. Bragg, NC FFS: countless hours -SkyVenture Orlando, FL: about 2 hours -L1 AAC Tunnel: about 5 minutes -SkyVenture Arizona: about 45 minutes There are some unique aspects of this forum that I will begin acquainting myself with . . . in the mean time if you have any comments or suggestions, feel free to shoot me a PM. Regards, Arrive Safely John

catfishhunter and diablopilot: please refrain from antagonistic remarks in the forums. Take your personal differences to PMs. Both of you know by now that opinions abound in this place, and people are not always going to agree with you. Opposing viewpoints are always welcome - please stay objective and keep your temper when you post. Thanks. Arrive Safely John -
