I'll be out there tomorrow doing AFF, all day Saturday, and not sure about Monday. Get well, will ya!?!? John

  8. First, a prayer for the plane load on the takeoff roll. Then, being alert for emergencies while still at a low altitude. Next, usually doing tandems or AFF, I am occupoed with my student, getting them their money's worth. When fun jumping, I usually make sure I have the dive down cold, then I enjoy the sights and bullshit with my mates on the plane. Arrive Safely John
  9. Skydiving History Website This site is well put together and really has some good stuff to learn about our sport. It amazes me how many folks were experimenting with things that some of us consider to be recent innovations. Enjoy! Arrive Safely John
  10. I have always heard it called "The Army Hymn." It has been called that for the entire 18.5 years I have been serving. I do hear it on the airplane riding to altitude now and then . . . Arrive Safely John
  11. Holiday rest and family time, then put on more clothes and get back in the air! Arrive Safely John

  15. Yep! I got her at a year and a half old from a couple who didn't want her any more. She eight and a half now. I have a postcard of a William Wegman weimer sitting quite sensually (for a dog) in a director's chair. I keep it in my Day Runner right after the picture of my wife. First I show the picture of my wife, who is quite beautiful, then I tell people"now, here's the picture of my bitch." It always gets a chuckle! Arrive Safely John
  16. Wazzap Mish! Keeping your Rigger busy I see!?!?! Hey, PM SkyMonkeyOne, our resident swoopmeister here at Raeford. He will have some good tips for you, as long as you don't mind taking advice from an SF guy Cheers, John Hawke
  17. OK, I'll jump in on this one . . . two of my pooches are rescued (one from a shelter, one from owners who didn't want her). Left to right, oldest to youngest and in order of acquisition: Sela, Hannah, and Tessa. Arrive Safely John
  18. 1) Still married, same awesome woman, 15 years 2) I was already "jumping" when I got married, but only military static-line. I didn't start "skydiving" until after we were married about 2 years. She started many years ago and made 52 jumps. She stopped after our first child was born. Arrive Safely John
  19. True. I agree. Good manufacturers know when to be specific and when to be vague. The problem with too much "vague-ness" is that it leads to "whatever." That's when things go awry. Arrive Safely John
  20. Personally, I will not repack a reserve that contains a CYPRES which is due for maintenance or a battery change during the next 120 day period. I have seen +/- 3 months in the manual. I have never asked SSK/Airtec to clarify this because to me and the way I do business it is a non-issue. I have no way of controlling the use of that rig in the last 30 days of the 120 day period (after the CYPRES maintenance cycle has expired). From my experience, manuals can be very ambiguous, especially with regard to text and photos/drawings corresponding with one another. They are much better these days, but even I call manufacturers occasionally asking for clarifications. Arrive Safely John
  21. Call Tony at SkyKat and tell him what your situation is. He gets some big guy gear in there now and again. SkyKat Gear Shop Arrive Safely John
  22. I saw it with my wife a month ago. It is the funniest movie I have seen in years! Family safe, too (as mentioned before). One of the camera guys at Raeford has a Greek wife. She said she had seen it and everything is absolutely true.
