  6. Chilly: Winter Neumanns Cold: Winter Neumanns with These underneath REALLY Cold: Gates Ski Gloves. Train in the harness pulling some handles before you use these. I use these mostly for high altitude (25,000FT) jumps in the Winter time with a ripcord deployed military rig. Arrive Safely John
  7. We took out a signature loan for a few things, my first rig included. I bought it a piece at a time, made some repairs, built a gear bag for it. Then it was stolen about a month later, the homeowner's insurance paid replacement cost, and I got a brand new one (but the waiting about killed me). Arrive Safely John

  10. I turned it off when the preview from 1994's GK diamond track collision came on. I saw it in person, and it is forever etched in my memory. I don't need to see it any more. I want to point out that rarely does the other jumper involved, who died later that night from internal injuries, get mentioned at all. His name was Jose Aguillon. He and I went through GK tryouts together, and traveled by ourselves to England in 1993 to do a joint demo with the Red Devils. Jose was an incredible human being, a professional soldier, and it is an honor to have called him my friend. The footage was taken by a spectator in the bleachers with a video camera. It originally aired on "A Current Affair" in June of 1994. I hope the seller is continually reminded about Jose's family flipping channels and seeing their boy die over and over again. More on this incident later, in another post, as there is much to learn from what happened so many years ago. *End of Rant* Arrive Safely John
  11. Does anyone have any experience packing these canopies in a Javelin or Odyssey J-3 W/CYPRES? Main: Vengeance 150, Vengeance 170 Reserve: Tempo 170 I currently own a J-4 with a PD176R & CYPRES and it fits beautifully. I have an opportunity to pick up a J-3, but would rather not go any lower in reserve size. Any input??
  12. OK, so we had some weather yesterday!?!?! (Boy, did we ever). I have been living in Pinehurst for seven years and I have never seen that much standing water on the roads. We got a ton of rain yesterday from TS Kyle. I got up early to run this morning and also checked the ASOS at Laurinburg/Maxton Airport and Fayetteville Airport: as of right now (0649 EDT), L/M has 1500 overcast, Fayetteville has 1900 overcast. Weather.com shows partly cloudy and zero precip. That means this stuff will burn off eventually. There were too many maybe's for me to have a good count, so we're just gonna show up and go for it! See you there! Arrive Safely John

  14. I would gladly let them search the vehicle. I have nothing in my vehicle to hide anyway, and if I owned a similar van, and they could eliminate mine from the running as the suspect vehicle, I would be glad to help. Arrive Safely John

  18. In truth, I have met the gent . . . he's not anti-social at all. He and the whole crew at his DZ are VERY friendly! Arrive Safely John
  19. My wife and I have joint everything except the cars. Mine is mine (I don't have to pay property taxez 'cause I'm a non-resident), and hers is hers ('cause it's considered business equipment). It works great for us. We are very solid, and started with very little so we built it all together. My folks, in their seventies, have always had separate accounts, and have divided up the bills, even "paying each other" monthly for equal shares of some things. I don't begin to understand it, but I don't judge it because it has always worked for them. Arrive Safely John
  20. I don't pack mains much, just to help out when we are short packers. $5 for a student or sport rig, $10 for a tandem rig. I pack reserves, mine and some friends, for $40. The rigger at Raeford charges the same, adding another charge for pop-tops. Big John doesn't pack pop-tops, so that's not an issue here. Arrive Safely John
  21. Just give Aggie at Sun Path a call to double-check. Shouldn't be a problem, but it wouldn't hurt to make sure to protect your investment in exotic fabrics! Arrive Safely John
