Do they scare you b/c they simply HAVE the weapon? Or is it b/c, as you say, they act like assholes? If it's the later, understandable it is, but if it's the former, then getting over your fear of guns is the remedy. It's easy really, and well worth doing. -the artist formerly known as sinker

have you ever talked to someone from Switzerland? They're great to talk to about guns... open, honest, not gun fearing people like elsewhere in EU. And they take them everywhere... -the artist formerly known as sinker

bravo and thanks bill, you know why. -the artist formerly known as sinker

wasn't there a superbowl commercial this year about soldiers walking through an airport, and everyone is stopping to stare at them, and it feels a little tense, but then one person starts to clap... then another... then more and soon, the whole terminal is applauding these heroes! It was just phenomenal. On many flights I take for work, there are often soldiers aboard. It isn't uncommon for the captain to come on the mic and publically thank them for their service. That's just awesome. -the artist formerly known as sinker

Vinny, you're such a JACKASS! Peace, bro! And thanks for the compliment earlier. -the artist formerly known as sinker

dude.. you can order shirley temples if you want crap, that's right, I'll be carrying my 45 so I CAN'T drink... thanks for reminding me. (I'll have my little kel-tec .32 as back up also. And an Emerson Tanto folder. And my Surefire light. And...) -the artist formerly known as sinker

"A Jew, a Catholic, and Gun walk into a bar..." Actually, just your presence in the bar during a hold up puts you at incredible risk of being harmed by the perp. Will you still buy me the drinks even if I want to drink wussy, girly drinks like Appletini's? -the artist formerly known as sinker

Quit changing the subject, John. His questions are very relevant to the discussion, in that they point out the fallacy of your thinking. If you disagree, I'd like to hear your rationale, instead of just passing the buck onto the issue of Confederate flags... -the artist formerly known as sinker

ah yes... the review is complete... and yes, he's dodged you every time on this. of course, I asked similar questions as well... such as does Kallend hate Germans b/c of the Nazi regime? Whites b/c they killed blacks? Europeans who killed Native Americans? If no, then why the hatred towards those who are Catholic? (And the response "I don't hate Catholics, I hate the Catholic Church" is nonsense... the "institution" is made up of people...) -the artist formerly known as sinker

well, since there are groups of people who believe similarly regarding faith in the supernatural, in this case, 1.1 billion people, but even if it were only a dozen, what system of organization would you propose? There must be a central point of organization, a central deposit of information regarding points of belief and disciplines that may flow from such belief. "Personal faith" in the "supernatural" may be unprovable in an empirical sense but it is "experiencable." It's like wind... you can't see it but it's there... you can see it's effects. And it's very interesting how people of similar faiths, when they practice the tenents of their faith, develop a spiritual maturity along similar, predictable paths, such as can be found in the works of St. John of the Cross (Dark Night of the Soul) and St. Therese of Avila (Interior Castle) and the like. -the artist formerly known as sinker

but kallend, it doesn't help that you are so damn thin. eat some food first dammit! -the artist formerly known as sinker

hmmm... ok, well you just continue on the normal course as it stands now... but if you and I are in a bar sometime and an armed robber comes and I save your life b/c I disobeyed an unjust law, I WILL expect that you buy me a beer and say thank you. -the artist formerly known as sinker

It's a meaningless question. If you want to do something actually useful get the Confederate States to apologize, and stop flying their treasonous flag.*** Should I stop flying the flag of the Vatican b/c of the Inquisition? Wait... did I just ask that? What a dumb question to ask Kallend! Gotta learn to disconnect the brain-keyboard interface... -the artist formerly known as sinker

what question did you ask him? -the artist formerly known as sinker

I find all religions, espcially Catholicism, laughable. *** I'm most happy that we Catholics offer such entertainment value With 1.1 billion of us worldwide, you best be careful not to bust your diaphram (sp) from laughing so much. -the artist formerly known as sinker

that was hilarious! -the artist formerly known as sinker

Thanks for that clarification -- you are exactly on the money w/ that. I'm not for drunks carrying weapons. I'd have no prob carrying my Kimber 45 in a bar, b/c I rarely, if ever, drink. -the artist formerly known as sinker

one of the few occasions where I think such a word is completely appropriate. See you auntie! -the artist formerly known as sinker

Why do you feel it is irresponsible? Many guns are under 21. BAHAHA!! That was great. As several others have stated, no law will keep a thug/criminal/vermin from bringing in a firearm to a bar. Law abiding, sensible men and women should be allowed to do the same. The very real possibility of a criminal coming up against an armed citizen is a WONDERFUL deterent! GFW (gun fearing wussies) need to get over their fear that just b/c someone has a gun they are going to go into a rage and murder scores of people. You don't see that happening in the 38 or more states that have passed concealed carry laws. -the artist formerly known as sinker

wow. it's amazing to me that someone could actually think up something like that. there need be no other proof that evil exists in the world. hope they find the f*ckers. -the artist formerly known as sinker

Sinker - I didn't say John was hateful or bigoted, I just said the whole thread was getting out of hand and was not on a friendly basis as it should have been. Nothing more. These are all potential friends here*** sorry, I read too much into your statements. However, others have commented as well about the apparent bigotry inherent in kallends comments, no matter how strongly he denies it. and i'm glad you are calling both of us on the unkindness of the thread. however, i really have tried to always come back around to erasing the incorrect myths and misconceptions people have about the Catholic Church. Again, i'm a pretty inadequate instrument in doing so and hope that people can parse out what what are my faults and what is the true teaching of the church. thank you to those who have pm'ed me your support and encouragement. -the artist formerly known as sinker

you're right... i've been a pretty bad example of what it is to be a "good" Catholic, and I've let certain people get my goat when it seems that is all they want to do. it's also encouraging and vindicating that others, non-Catholics included, see the bigotry for what it is... I'll take your advice and leave kallend to his hatred and misconceptions. True, the Catholic Church sponsored torture and murder in it's history. But Kallend is WRONG in saying She has never apologized... So soon after John Paul II passes does Kallend forget all that the good Pope ever did, including multiple confessions and apologies, seeking reconciliation w/ the world for the Church's failings. It just saddens me that some do not WANT to forgive. It's bondage, really. Again, thanks for your post, It's helped me step back and see all of this for what it is... Peace. -the artist formerly known as sinker

Your question is so ignorant as to be laughable. It's an analogy about what the process of bulemia IS, not how bulemics should be treated. Of course, since they suffer from a condition, they should be treated w/ compassion and proper treatment. The "language" of the ACT of bulemia, inverting the secondary end of eating, i.e. pleasure, with the primary end, nutrition, is analogous to contraceptive sex. End of analogy. Nothing about Hell, fire and damnation. -the artist formerly known as sinker
