if you want to talk about gust's, start another thread you will confuse people. we are talking about wind. wind in and of itself. not thermals not gusts. not rotors. just solid wind.
-
shorter is not always faster. straight, in this case, is.
-
it is a very common misconception.

it does change the relationship between the ground and air. your only problem in understanding this whole thing is that you keep referencing the ground.. that is where your perception comes from. take the ground COMPLETLY out of the equation, and then rethink it. make sure the ground, or any object not subject to the wind itself is eliminated from your thoughts. yes, take the ground out of consideration and you may see what i mean. once again, forget the ground. the parachute knows nothing of it. only your eyes do. no, it is all relative. it only blows you off course "relative" to the ground. again, take the ground out of consideration and your flying straight "relative" to the wind. think about when your flying at altitude straigh ahead, and you have a 50 mph cross wind. is the wind going to feel like it is coming from your side? no it will be coming from straight ahead. it does effect it relative to the ground. but it makes no difference to the wing. none whatsoever. it is flying in its column of air. and turn speed and rate and altitude are all the same... your noodle spun yet? I will take you up on that bet.

messege them back and say. "just meet me, it is safe and easy, I can't buy a gun to shoot you with in the UK"

when i fear something trust me I will let you know. I do not fear BASE jumping, but if it makes you feel better to think that go ahead. I have no desire to BASE jump. do you have a desire to swoop? you want me to say it? why not? you scared? now doesn't that sound ridiculous. I have enough experience to know that I change the things that I can, prevent the things that i can and do not let the things I cannot change/prevent, bring me down. this situation was something that could have been prevented, and it was.. and to go to your cloud theory. I will not get out into a cloud. not because it isn't legal, or because im SCARED. but because more than likely someone with less experience than me will think it is ok and then do it themselves... don't preach to me dude, and yes, i do have a lot of energy. and if the situation demands that i be a kill joy, then so be it. it is better than having my joy killed.

im also wondering why there are yes votes. it was my point to ask when i posted.. my post was asking an explanation, in case you missed that... -
BASE jumping out of a balloon with the FAA present at the world freefall convention without a TSO'd rig and no reserve, might not be illigal. but it is not Leagal. never said it wasnt safe, I could care less if it is. never said it wasdnt fun, could care less if it is. never siad it wasnt your right. never said i wouldnt share the airspace. what i am saying, is a BASE jumper is a PARACHUTIST. a skydiver is a PARACHUTIST. A BASE jumper is a PARACHUTIST, all the FAA would see in this situation is a PARACUTIST doing something that is against the rules of the FAA. then they could possible bring action against the pilot and even further deem the PARACHUTING dangerous, and a bunch of disrespectfull PARACHUTIST'S, could all loose out because of one PARACHUTIST, doing some cowboy jackass thing just to get his own personal thrill..

VX vs Velo: 270 turn starting altitudes
marks replied to frost's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Provided you know how to keep your canopy diving I agree with you............You can get away with a lower turn in higher winds though. if you can get away with it in high winds, you can get away with it downwind/ crosswind/ or no wind.. it really has no effect. if you are coming to the farm, get ian to explain it to you, if he has trouble explaining it or you dont understand. come ask me and i will give it a shot. -

...because most non-packing 100-ish jump folk know how to sew bridle attachment points to canopies . I would swear mine has one.... could be wrong... check your reserve next time you have it packed, and Pm me and let me know if you have one.

still working on the pics, but if you get the two peice suit, and the specail, you can wear the "shorts" with the top on the really hot days. also, if you use a removable deployment system and you want the stash pocket on the swoop pants you can get that also. I even have a pair of swwop pants i use as freefly pants, I had him make a "removable" stash pocket for the "removable" deploment system. so when i want to use the swoop pants as freefly "shorts" then i just remove the pocket.
