QUIT FOLLOWING ME!!! AH! http://www.exitshot.com

Ok, so I just found out that all the teachers here go ALL OUT on Halloween costumes and come to school decked out. So, i need something good to hang with them. I'm bad at this kinda stuff, you know, shopping, so I figured you all might be able to suggest what I would be good as for Halloween. Suggestions???? oh, and um, realistically, appropriate for school, you know, teaching a bunch of teenagers at a private school. peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

Marissa! Good to see you on here. Thanks for the offer, I'll take you up on that. And I don't have to show nobody nothing :) When will you be back on this side of the pond for another boogie? where? Duece, Thanks for your support. I'm no where near breaking even on the shutterfly site, but it's the best site to post large file sizes for sale as you know. Have you looked at all the cards and options you can play with? I ordered some notecards of my own with one of my Australia photos, I'll let you know how they turn out. I'm thinking christmas presents here... Oh yeah, and I ordered a 16x20 of something for my good friend, I'm going to look at it first, see the quality... And just so you don't think I'm trying to lowball, I sell ground shots much cheaper than freefall shots, and cheaper than normal for Chicks Rock. Oh yeah, and some 4x6's I ordered a couple weeks ago were very nice, sharp and no printing errors! peace! lew http://www.exitshot.com

I assume you're talking about 35mm... (without the .6 multiplier for stills)... And my Sony .6 for video is a little wider than any other .5 You want close for stills on Tandem with 35mm so you can enlarge them. If you have a 10D, you can afford to go wider(my sigma 15=24(in 35mm)) and then crop the photos before enlarging. I like the full frame of floppy face I get when i dock and spin a tandem :) peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

just thought i'd bump to give a little update... I saw a good doc at UCLA today. He said "no impact sports" (he meant running- i chuckled) for at least 6 weeks. We'll xray again then and I'll probably be cleared to do whateva... New xrays show a ton of bone growth at the fracture site, it's literally about twice as thick as the rest of my femur shaft, and it's healing very well he said. Kudos to my doc in Champaign that put me back together, he did a good job. he recommended having it out in about a year and a half. every day is getting easier :) but I am very tired from partying at Chicks Rock... NO MORE CRUTCHES!!!!!!!!!! Woooohooooooo! peace lew OH yeah, and many many many thanks and love for cajones for helping me with everything... http://www.exitshot.com

johnny, i agree with you. I think most of us here agree with you. (not trying to speak for everyone, but everyone I've talked to about it would agree...) the whole thing is so sad, on so many levels. peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

so I stay up till 2am working last night and still didn't get everything done, got a parent conference at 8am, don't have all the kids stuff graded, forget car keys, got a late start, pulling into school at 7:53 and there's a lot of traffic... i get up there, and the principle is outside, says "Powers out, school's closed, go home"... I couldn't believe what i was hearing... how cool is that. free day. peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

Why not have him do drop tests, it's fun. Then he can compare times and make a hypothesis about how mass and air resistence affect terminal velocity of different objects... From 2 or 3 stories high, and try to measure the height, drop things like a book, an egg, a feather, a paper wadded into a ball, a paper not folded at all, a soccer ball, a bowling ball (watch out!), a paper cup, a Gi Joe with a parachute, a GI Joe without a parachute, a stuffed animal, etc.... And time of course how long it takes to from letting go to hitting the ground. Compare times. Discuss that even though the force of gravity is the same on every object, objects only fall at the same rate in a vacuum. In our world with air, resistence on those objects slows them down. The best comparison would be the GI Joe with and without the parachute, then he can talk about skydiving and how his coolass mom skydives and how the parachute slows her down so she can land safely... and of course, the more creative you get with objects, the better! don't forget to include photos, excel spreadsheet of times and graphs and stuff like that. Video would be even better! Especially with some funny objects. And how high can you get to drop stuff... Ooooh, i wish i could have done that in 7th grade! peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

that would be cool, thanks man. http://www.exitshot.com

Holy Camoly... wow, a whole thread started about little ol me... Thanks Duece. You could have just posted it in another thread like the hottie one, but you had to start a whole new thread! Thank you all for your very nice comments. Seriously, you've made my day. That was 4 weeks after my accident, the photo is deceiving... while i'm standing there, all my weight on my right leg (the good one), my crutches are out of view. I could stand, but not walk, and getting in and out of that pool was a challenge... I'm better now though... But I do have to say to Rosa, shut up! Look who's talking little miss mega-hottie! Guys, if you haven't met Rosa, you'll fall flat on your face when you do. And Betsy, you're always so sweet to me. You are so beautiful, there a good segment of a sweet freestyle dive of yours on the eloy video... I could never be that graceful. Clay, um, i might jump with you next year. You can pay up front and put your name on the list, ok? Zeni, baby, why is that everytime i read your posts i think damn we need to jump together more. not for a tracking contest, well, we can do that, but just to get you and me in the sky... anyway, wingnut, i never had a cast. and the glasses are Spy. peace lew Duece, btw, i'm only 5'13" and about 160. i'm no lightweight... Mujie, now that girl is tall and a feather, i tried freeflying with her once, and i had to go belly while she sat. Oh hey, btw, did anyone take any photos of me in Rantoul before my accident? I don't really have any of me cuase i was so busy running around with the camera on my head. If anyone has any of me in rantoul, please email them to me, I'd love to see me before I broke myself. Thanks! http://www.exitshot.com

You should post this in Photo. It obviously isn't just about the best camera setup for freeflying. That being said, any setup can work for anything, but what's best for one isn't for the other. I like my sidemount video for freeflying, and topmount for tandems and bigways. I only have one still setup on my flattop narrow, and the still camera is frontmounted with my PC video top-mounted... it's not necessarily the best, it just works for me. peace lew edit: oh, you did post it in Photo... good. http://www.exitshot.com

jsut thought I'd share. thanks to everyone who offered and helped me... Maybe I'm picky, maybe it just really is hard to find a decent place around here. As I was driving around calling numbers posted in front of buildings, i aparently missed a "Right Turn Only" sign and went straight. I got pulled over and the cop asked what's up. I gave him my Ohio drivers license and told him the car was a rental, and he asked if i had a current address, and in saying No, that's what I'm doing is driving around looking for an apartment... I was calling the number on that building on the corner. And he says, oh, you don't want to live there, there are lots of problems there. So I say, "thanks that's good to know, got any suggestions?" and he suggested going south further... and because of his suggestion, i did, and i drove by a place and ended up getting it. FINALLY! some things happen for a reason. oh yeah, and he only gave me a warning for not turning in the turn lane. thank goodness. ok, that's all i have to say about that. peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

It would be wonderful if 2003 were the year a cure for breast cancer was found!!!! This is one e-mail you should be glad to pass on. The notion that we could raise $35 million by buying a book of stamps is powerful! As you may be aware, the US Postal Service recently released its new "Fund the Cure" stamp to help fund breast cancer research. The stamp was designed by Ethel Kessler of Bethesda, Maryland. It is important that we take a stand against this disease that affects so many of our Mothers, Sisters and Friends. Please read and consider some pocket change to change the world... Instead of the normal 37 cents for a stamp, this one costs 40 cents. The additional 3 cents will go to breast cancer research. A "normal" book costs $7.40. This one is only $8.00. It takes a few minutes in line at the Post Office and means so much. If all stamps are sold, it will raise an additional $35,000,000 for this vital research. Just as important as the money is our support. What a statement it would make if the stamp outsold the lottery this week. What a statement it would make that we care. I would urge you to do two things TODAY: 1. Go out and purchase some of these stamps. 2. E-mail your friends to do the same. We all know women and their families whose lives are turned upside-down by breast cancer. It takes so little to do so much in this drive. I think we can all afford the additional 60 cents that a book of this stamp costs. Please help & pass this on. peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

hey wrongway, you are doing something you love right? skydiving? So be happy that you are not wasting your time doing something you don't enjoy. and make a life out of it if you want, get your ratings, work at a dz. i sometimes momentarily lapse into the underacheiver mode and get mad at myself, but then i just remind myself of what's important to me. Just do what makes you happy. peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

Why is skysurf so uncommon today?
lewmonst replied to The111's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Steve summed it up pretty well. This point I think is the clincher for most. There are many challenging disciplines in skydiving, but working through them with your friends keeps people going. Imagine how popular flying headdown would be if you could really only do it by yourself. peace lew going to dust off my board sometime... http://www.exitshot.com -
nice job. what position do you play? peace lew http://www.exitshot.com
