  4. I've test jump the pdx10 which is the same as the 950. It still has the fluttering issue after a very talented electronic guru has taken the camera apart a few times trying to figure out the problem. There is little hope in fixing the problem at this time. I have read that you can manually set the exposure to apoint that might fix the problem, but we have not gone down that road yet. At this time it is a nice ground camera. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com

  6. yes it was a decent turnaround considering I shot video at Rantoul which took 2 weeks out of production. The tune was custom made by a bro of mine Victor of ihook studios. http://www.ihookstudios.com My multimedia company helped get his site together. You should check it out. 30 mins of jumping and local Sacramento bands supplying the tunes. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com

  8. If you have the money and want to make sure shots are sharper from camera shake I would get the IS model. The 75-300 is a good intermediate lens. The IS should make up for about 1 stop difference in shutter speed. the 70-200f4 L is a pro series lens at a good price also. Much better glass. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com

  10. Nice to know I'll do some test my self. Personally I think the d60 and the 10d are the same camera. Nice tip.. I try it. one from last weekend. Roger Ponce and Dan O'Brien big ways. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  11. Quade, Why a ASA 200 setting? Is there any noticable noise in the image compared to 100? The 1 stop can help but I wouldn't want to degrade the image quality. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  12. VERY WEL SAID QUADE. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  13. I know all the reason why dz arn't making money and all that, but I like good, experience and responsible pilots. They have our lives in their hands every busy day. They look after us and no matter how maitained an aircraft is mechanical and atmospheric problems can happen. So what is it 50 cents more per jumper would pay them at the average turbine dropzone. btw thanks for fly us safely. Cheers www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  14. This is getting farther from the topic but let me use this example to make my point Btw I very happy with the D60 and would like 5 fps with a 30 shot buffer but, Do you all know the shot of Ali standing over I believe Sonny Liston seconds after he knocked hime down. Ali looms over him and pounds his chest. The shot a triumpent sports moment captured in a split second. Literly that. The ironic thing is there were photogs all around the ring and in the news reel clip there is only one still photo flash. The reason why. In the great shot all the photogs in the back round are changing flash, winding film or standing around with there thumb up there ass. Not antipating the moment. I'm photojournalist by trade, antipation and prepartion are the hallmark of a good pj who consitently brings home the shots. Yes we shoot mile of film or now gigs of images but the best ones are not from a series of a fast motor drive, but from being in the right place at the right time. 1 second is a long time. 3fps is only 1/300th of that and when you slow down with write speeds and buffers that is slower than film 3fps. just because we can fill a 1 gig card with shots dosen't mean there is a reason to be shooting the entire jump. I've found the 8 shot buffer is forcing me to be more selective of when I shoot things making me a better photog and bring home more prime shots with the digital camera. Attached is the Ali picture by Neil Leifer and one I got from the WFFC. And mine wasn't because of the motordrive. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  15. A better photographer knows how to utilize the motor drive, but does not realy on it to get the shot in a folly of frames being ripped off. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  16. Yes the write speed sucks. It is designed for the consumer market. Its part of the rebel line. They want to keep the price down and decent fps for film or digital is saved for the more advance cameras in their line. A good photographer does not realy on the motordrive. And these digital cameras are forcing you to do this. One day you'll fill up the 25 gig card with photos from exit to opening at 10fps. Reality is 3fps which is slow and burst of 8-9 or so. You can lay on the shutter and fill up the cache. But that might get you a second or two later when you really need the frames. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  17. Jd hill brought out some good points. And it sums it up for general purpose. Wider is better. You need to fly close but this also gives you a little room and knowing if they are in the frame. This also simiulates what video and the film/digitl stills eqaull about the same focal length. Using anything bigger than the 20mm in digital is getteing in to the mid telephoto range. Your sights better be rock solid. When I first got my D60 i was using my 24mm. I got some interesting shots due the 38mm i was getting. The shot made it in a FliteSuit ad in paragear. Really nice because the image was not he normal lens eveyone else was using. For most jumping I'll use the 15mm sigma. Great lense for the price. But I'll start experimenting with my 24mm soon. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  18. lew and jp gave you other options, but it is nice convient small setup depending on your needs. If you just want to shoot for fun and not have the complexity and extra space and weight it works. Cheers www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  19. anyone want to buy and let me jump it? BTW way first time using the smily guy. and yes I'm not buying beer for that. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  20. I'm using the 27 as my work horse camera. Tandems, freeflying, RW, and deck for editing tandems at the dz and at home. I got mine for $700 new and love the vale quality and features. Not top of the line but if lasts till some time mid season I'll be happy. Its taken some abuse as I'm hard on my equipment. no problems yet. I say this becasue the cameras weren't designed for the abuse and extremes of skydiving. my advice. get it. I think its better than the 22. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  21. I don't know the dates or what but did they have the 120ish multipoint record attempt at crosskeys last weekend? Any Info on the event? or when is it? www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  22. Ray, I think if you are using the .3 to film 4way, the 15mm sigma wil be fine. Sounds like filling the frame won't be the problem. The 14 mm would be a large hunk of glass to be a workhorse lens. The 15 is consiiderable smaller, lighter, cheaper, with only a little of wide angle distortion on a few shots of the horizon. Other than that, my opinon the 14 is overkill for 90% of skydives. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  23. For Air shots I would recommend the sigma 15mm fe. best bang for the buck and size. 28-105 canon greatlense for all around ground. my 2 bits. you can see the most recent pics with the 15mm fe www.petergallistudios.com/skydive www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  24. Well here are a few of my pics from the boogie. Sorry it took so long to get them up. http://www.petergallistudios.com/skydive/030629-ab/index.html Cheers www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  25. Dan, We have 2 panasonics at skydance, CA. What you need to do is Finalize the DVD. Look in the manual and it should be there. We r still figuring ours out. But they work fine. Look in to it and let me know if you get it fixed. Cheers. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
