  1. Does anyone know if there are any DZs preferably in the southern portion of the country that are running deals on jumps prices over spring break?
  2. I am planning on purchasing a pair of freefly pants. I can't make up my mind between Tony Suits, a michigan suit or Merlin suits. I have heard good things about Tonys Suits as far as quality and customer srevice are concerned. How are the other two to deal with? Oh and does anyone know how much Merlin charges for Tie Dye pants Later, Shain

    Fundraisers

I was just wondering how college clubs raised money by doing fundraisers. What kind of things did your clubs do to raise money Was the time spent on fundraisers worthwhile, or was it a waste of time? Any info is appreciated Thanks
  4. Well I'm not sure where you live but, I have a crappy job at Officemax to hold me over during the winter and during school. Then I am going to work at the dropzone over the summer. What could be better, you get to make money at a dropzone.
  5. A friend and I recently started a club at our university. What do you think our chances are of getting our school to buy us gear. Any useful ideas would be great!
  6. If I were you I would buy something that is common at your dropzone. Because it will be easier for you get advice about your gear and it will be easier, to sell your gear later on. Initially I 50 jumps on a friends Javelin until I bought my Mirage. I would recommend either one.
  7. Just curious if anyone has seen this video, and if so is it good.
  8. I'm with AggieDave, Bud Light and Miller Lite are the SHIT! not that i won't drink anything else, but ya gotta have preferences
  9. In Minnesota lately its been 20f on the ground and damn near 0 at altitude if not colder. The only part that sucks is the canopy ride. Last year we jumped when it was 3 degrees on the ground
  10. I was just curious if anyone is competing this year of if you have competed previous years. If you have I want to know what the competition is like there. Thanks
  11. Last Saturday I got my first rig. I bought a Mirage G3, with a Sabre 135 , Tempo 150, and a Cypres. Aren't school loans great !
  12. I have noticed that my DZ is mostly a Mirage G3 dropzone. I have heard that certain rigs are more common in other parts of the country. I was just wondering what type of gear is most common in your neck of the woods. (oh and where do you jump) I jump at Skydive Hutchinson in Minnesota
  13. How are you packing it? Sometimes I'll roll the nose and stuff it in the center cell. And sometimes I'll just leave the nose as is. Sure the rolled nose method provides a little more of a snivel. But I have never been slammed either way.
  14. Lets have a show hands for those who use an R.S.L and those of you who don't. And if you don't mind tell us why you do/do not use one
  15. I to was wondering this. I have another question, do the deluxe backpads and articulated harnesses improve the comfort of the rig?
  16. For all you freefliers out there I am just curious. In your opinions what are the best containers for freeflying on the market today ? In my meager experience it seems to me that the Mirage is the frontrunner. Any comments are welcome Thanks.
  17. I am not sure what you were supposed to do on your level 3 and 4 jumps. But from the sound of it if you were spinning you probably did not complete your objectives. I had the same problem also. My problem was when I didn't arch I would drop one of my legs a little bit whivh would cause me to spin. If I were you I would ask to do a nothing dive where you do nothing but relax and arch no objectives to complete. I think this really helped me get through AFF. Later ColdDuck
  18. I would suggest you try to decide after your first jump. If that seems to go really well you probably will have no problem spreading out your jumps. But if you have trouble relaxing like I did spreading out your jumps could be very frustrating and just end up costing you more money. Oh and be prepared to get hosed by the weather from time to time. Not sure where your jumping though (P.S. dont come to Minnesota) Hope this helps ColdDuck
  19. I was just wondering how long it took most of you to go through your training programs. I always seem to get hosed by the weather every time. I now have the nickname of "Almost Shain" because I always almost get to jump or I almost get into the plane. And on top of that I am still stuck on level 2 my jumpmasters just say that am just forgetting to relax. Does anyone have any hints or ideas on how relaxed during your first few jumps?
  20. Well in Minnesota it ahs to be the winter. It was actually snowing here yesterday and today it about 60 degrees out.
  21. 1. Skydiving (only because it lasts longer than sex ) 2. Sex 3. Beer and Rock n Roll go together
  22. I think its safe to say that all the skydiving movies fo far have not boasted some top notch actors (Welsey Snipes was the best in my opinion). Especially Stephen Baldwin, does anyone remember the scene where he is talking on a cell phone in front of the mirror? I think that was the worst two minutes of acting I have ever seen. Anyway I was just wondering if you could pick any actor or actress to be in a skydiving movie who would they be ? MY CHOICES Actor: Ben Stiller Actress: The fat chick from the Drew Carey Show (she's a hottie)
  23. Thats right boys and girls I finally reached the big 50 So without further adue bring in the beer! Edited by ColdDuck on 4/4/01 11:51 PM.
  24. I am also a college student and I am also trying to balance money for school, truck, and skydiving. So far I have not gotten into debt fo any of them yet. But the way I see if what if this is my only chance to skydive in my lifetime. I will have the rest of my shitty life to pay off my debt. My new VISA should be here any day now.
