  1. Hi Murray, I can't get the link to work either.
  2. Genn

    Dear Diary,

    OMG...you post some funny shit!
  3. To Michael, Mom, and Monica..... (((((((HUGS))))))) & (((((((((VIBES)))))))
  4. No longer confused-there would be no point if we had to pay for the repair......Thanks for the clarification!
  5. With today's canopies, you might even want to consider turning a Cypres OFF for a 2G hop & pop. (Not sure if that's a great idea or not, would be interested in feedback on the notion.) I would never turn on my cypress for a H & P.
  6. Read the fine print.... In the ad, it says " Customer pays all shipping costs for repairs, replacement, and/or loaner parachutes" You do NOT always get a BRAND NEW canopy... EDIT: It still doesn't make sense to me. You would have to do the same with PD...you're just skipping the middle man.
  7. Well, I went to discuss a near miss between me, (who was in the 3rd group out of the aircraft) and another skydiver (who was the first person out of the aircraft) who opened his parachute about 40 feet in front of me. At opening, I flipped him off...but only out of reaction. When we were on the ground, I walked over to him, I was calm and just wanted to see why he was tracking the line of flight (Again). He stepped forward and Punched me on in the Jaw. Did you hit him back?
  8. I don't get it either. PD already does that for you, regardless of the dealer. In the ad, it says " Customer pays all shipping costs for repairs, replacement, and/or loaner parachutes" I have seen PD pick up these costs in certain situations and provide a demo canopy at no additional cost..... depending on the situation.
  9. Quote.....and then more recently have had 1 woman attack another over a jumpmaster they are both attracted to.Quote Were you the jumpmaster?????
  10. It's the first thing I take off right after I land. I can hear better, but that's not even the point. The only reason I wear one to begin with is to keep my damn hair from turning into a ball of knots (if only I could shave my head...just for a day). Besides, I think that's like telling a person they have to have safety gear on before crossing a street.
  11. Sunnydee, Why don't you just make your own disk/target/X ? We've made ours out of roofing material. If you don't want to land in the peas (?) you can take a can of spray paint (or weed killer) and spray a circle around your disk in a non-congested section of the landing area. -you may want to ask you DZM or DZO- I don't know how your DZ works. EDIT: I go for the X on every jump. I set up a little short so that when I surf I can just stab it real quick (first point of contact) then continue my landing. If I'm too short, I'll grab a little rear risers to give me an added push.
  12. My SO has a few rip stop patches on his stiletto and has had them for many years now w/o problem. I would be interested in that experiment, though.
  13. Our DZo owns a couple of Helos....He brings us up to about 4000' and hovers....very cool!
  14. I made one of my AFF insrustors take a tip- but only once. I was making a lot of money back then and he always tried to give me back the envelope (his pay)...Since he always tried to do my AFF for free, I kicked and screamed until he took it. At that time, I had the money to burn and I knew he didn't. It's a personal choice.
  15. My arms are usually along side my torso- but depends on what I need to do. I always go for the disk....sometimes I need a little extra on the rear risers if I come up a little short, and sometimes I need front risers or a little brakes....so, it all depends on what I need to do at that moment in time.
  16. 2K! (it's the lowest available poll option) Any Skydive is a great skydive. Just get me off the ground!
  17. Altitude permitting I'd cutaway and release my main risers...But that's my decision. When I was talking about different disciplines, I was talking mostly about CRW...You should have a hook knife doing CRW. IMO, you should have more than one. They can come in handy- Think about it.
  18. Thanks ladyskydiver! Me too!
  19. I wouldn't have to consider anything in this situation. If I was next to him I'd say "Dude, you forgot to take your seatbelt off" and that's it. End of story. If I was in the front of the plane and happened to notice it...I'd tell someone in front of me to let him know his seatbelt is still on...I don't find this scenario a bid deal.
  20. Just buy rootbeer.....See the beer rules...especially #9.
  21. I was also involved in a non-fatal collision after landing. Unfortunately, it was a demo. I was one of the last out because we were doing CRW. The guy before us said he was jumping his LS135. When we were coming in for landing, we see that the jumper before us decided to use his bruiselite. He just wasn't coming down...he was supposed to be landed!!!- if we knew what he was jumping, he would've been the last one out. All the other jumpers on board landed successfully and all in the same direction. As my friend and I were coming into land next to each other....I see the bruiselite coming at me-landing in the wrong direction and completely fixated on the X. I was also going for the X but moved over just enough to squeeze in between the jumper's endcell coming at me and the damn windblade on the other side. We just missed each other! We landed at the exact same time....but my buddy that was supposed to land next to me had to hold as much as possible cause the areas next to me were taken. He tried to go up and over my canopy that was still inflated, although I was landed and on the ground. However, his foot caught my tail and I was yanked up and slammed into the ground. He luckily had no injuries. I broke bones in my face and had the wind knocked out of me. I don't remember anything after I landed...Not the yank, not the slam, nothing. It happened so fast that I have no recollection. As if that wasn't bad enough on a demo, after I got my wind back, I got up...acting like nothing was wrong....I let the kids help pack my chute and try on my gear. After we left, I had to go to the doctor and have my nose cracked back into place. Ouch!!! Basically my point is: shit can happen when you least expect it. Now, when I land I grab my canopy and yank it to the ground after my feet have touched the ground. IMO, your skydive is not over until you're driving home in your car. (attached some pics of the event)
  22. I also jumped in high winds this weekend. However, my WL is a lot higher than yours. As you jump more and gain more experience in different conditions, you we be able to see your rate of descent towards the ground. You'll also be ablt to feel if you canopy is dropping out of the sky. Even at my current wingloading, I had a problem landing in the winds once. I was jumping at Para-Ski...we lost ground/air communication and got out of the helo. We all opened coming straight down in a crazy wind/snow storm. We landed off and on a small clearing of the mountain. The second I landed, I was pulled back off my feet and was hauling as on my back. I was trying to collapse the canopy with my toggle, but I looked over my shoulder and saw I was heading for a house...I quickly cutaway....just be sure you do not have an RSL....if you ever need to cutaway in a similar situation.
  23. I'm sorry, but saying that it is 'confusing enough' is...OMG...freakin' scary! There is a reason the course is so long....so that you know what you're in for. I had a hook knife. I was told one non- confusing thing: This is in case you have a line over on your reserve and you need to cut the line. After some experience, different disciplines, thinking, etc. I now know that a hook knife can come in handy for more than the above mentioned situation.
