This is something completely deserving of payback. One of my buddies that has a good deal of jumps (but not suitable to be a mentor by the BASE community) would not take me to the tower. So I found experience jumpers and got some training. He should have done the same! Two wrongs don’t make a right, it makes it even.

True but that picture can be deceiving. That could just be one little ledge thats right near where the guy is standing and the rest could be nicely overhung. Would really have to see to know for a fact.

Aight! So I had a thought the other day. I'm trying to get my BASE number and I have my E and B left. Obviously Moab is an easy deal but I’m a little short on cash and also vacation time. So, I was getting something off my mom’s desk the other day and noticed a picture of my sister and I on the edge of a cliff in a park we were hiking with our family back when we were younger. Remembering back to that trip, I can picture the exact cliff and remember it being at least a good 300-400 feet high. My question is: Are the penalties for BASE jumping in a state park the same or less severe than jumping on NPS land ike NRG or Yosemite? Coco

I haven't jumped in about a month because I have gotten bored. We don't have a whole lot of freeflyers at my dz so after going to a guano boogie and doing big way head down jumps I have kinda gotta bored with doing the two way chase someone around jump. I have a good buddy that I love jumping with but we both are low on cash so that hurts also. I have also started BASE so I have been doing that more also. BASE is free, unless you get caught , or have to travel. I'll be ordering a PF phantom soon and will start wingsuit flying so that will get me back into the plane. Until then I'll probably not be jumping much. Or if I get into a fire department I'll have money. I'm a broke biatch right now. Coco

That is so cool Nick! I too remember my first thought like that. I was like 6-8 (somewhere in there) and I took a trip to the statue of liberty with my grandparents and sister. I remember climbing all those stairs and then looking out of those little windows through the crown. I remember looking down and wondering what it would be like to jump off and fall next to this big structure. I remember trying to imagine what the sensation of falling would be like and seeing things get bigger as I fell. I wanted to do it so bad but I knew I would die so I decided against it. It’s nice to look back at that and think, “Well, I know how it feels now!”

Damn this posting!!!! Last night I went to make a jump and had to backed down. I was fully geared up and ready to jump from the 900 platform but had a funny feeling about the jump so I decided not to go. A few thing added to my sketchy feeling right before too. While I was gearing up the winds picked up quite a bit (granted its less important the wind speed from 900 than at about 250 where I will be opening, but standing on the railing would have been tough) Also the fact that after I packed my chute, 2 hours before I left for the tower I hurt my back. I have no idea what I did but it just started hurting like a biatch! That along with my feeling and this posting I had to say, “screw it.” I read this posting yesterday afternoon and when I was standing on the platform last night (with that sketchy feeling) all I could think about was this posting and tom’s object strike. I was standing there thinking, “watch, I’ll go against my feeling and end up hanging from a guy wire or some shit and people will be joking my ass after hearing me cry like a little bitch on my 911 tape.” But you know what! Its all good, I made a jump the night before last, I got some damn good exercise, and I’m alive to jump another day. Coco P.S You know what WAS pretty cool though. My dad was my phone ground crew on the jump and when I got home he said that was a very mature and smart thing to do. He was proud of me for not jumping.
