  1. I don't think I have to be either....since I already AM Ooooooh, there he goes again!! And, That's right!! And I have one TOO!!!!!
  2. I was warned to check this post out again, and I am not surprised. Dutch, FYI, YES Cyber is the webmaster for his DZ, but SO AM I!!! However, all you get out of either one of us is just what is happening as far as a boogie goes, because that is where our JOBS end...NOT "hey everyone, I want you ALL to know that I am about to do my 100th jump so EVERYONE in AMERICA should come to MY boogie instead." or, "Hey, if you are planning on going to another state in the union, you should stop by my dz because it is on the way (sounds like another GA person to me) and do a jump, because...well, because I am there!" I don't recall being in competition with Thomaston or with any other dz, but if the rules have changed, I know which team I am on. I TOO am about to reach my 100th (perhaps at this boogie) but I would rather reach it on a warm day at a friendly dropzone with my friends, instead of pressuring everyone to know that I am about to become a respectable skydiver so NOW you all have to take me seriously. We take you seriously Dutch, I think you take yourself a bit more seriously than the rest of us. Secondly, as for your point about settling on one DZ....I HAVE jumped at a couple of the different DZ's in the state and I stuck with where I belonged. That doesn't make my choice invalid, nor does it give you the right to claim your DZ is the best....it works for you so stick with it, but keep your sermons for the mountains. I have also jumped in 2 different countries and at over 10 different dropzones, so I can hardly give your crack about being happy at "one" dz any credit. I am happy at ALL of them, as long as they put me in the sky!!! Thirdly, I do share love. I just don't share annoyance!!! Cyber was asking if anyone was going to a boogie on the Florida/Alabama state line. You are on hour south from Atlanta (anyone on dz.com not know where Dutch's DZ is yet?) so you tell me Dutch, you and your friends have decided to take a road trip with the ultimate destination being some 6-7(?) hours away....do you really stop 1 hour after getting on the road to do a jump...causing you to unpack all your gear, get suited up, go on a load, land, pack and pack your car again? somehow I DON'T THINK SO. So, if you want to keep us informed about your DZ's happenings great, I am sure WE ALL would love to hear when you have your boogies. But when someone else is talking about taking a trip to - even so close as Augusta, or as far as Hawaii and beyond - don't inform them that you are on the way. You come off as intrusive and annoying. (but hey, don't listen to me...be annoying and cast a negative light on your dz in the process..."Oh that DZ, isn't that where Dutchboy jumps? Think I'll pass") In conclusion, I still plan on touring around, making jumps wherever and with whomever is around at the time. And who knows, if you're at Thomaston when I jump, well I would love to jump with you and maybe share a beer with you afterwards. But you won't know when I am coming, and neither will anyone else. For all the others on the forum, sorry about this. I hate getting petty. I just felt something should be said, and I tried to do it politely. Kia Kaha, Pyke NZPF A-2584
  3. Wow, when someone exposes your nerve - you really bite - don't you? [pushing on that nerve]Go on yourself...your taste in music isn't the only thing that sucks about you![/pushing on that nerve]Ooooooh, damn!!!! So there...and I am sure I will find out just how well it does suck this weekend!!!!bwaaahhaaaahahaaahahaaa Kia Kaha, Pyke NZPF A-2584
  4. It is kind of hard not to knock it with you beeping your own horn all the time!!!!! I would like to come down to try out Thomaston, but your opinion is just that, so please keep your preaching to a minimum (ie. "best dropzone in GA"). I happen to think that Monroe is bloody fantastic, but you don't hear me screaming from the rooftops - or worse, making it the only thing I can talk about & make posts on. Your enthusiasm for your own dropzone is bordering on invasive/annoying. And I know of others who share this. So, I am pleased(really!
  5. D, balanced my checkbook last night and after this weekend's boogie, I am going to be FLAT BROKE!!!! However, I would love to do it next year and am making a note in my calendar for it...so, if you don't go this year (which it sounds like is very minimal) then I will hang with you next year!!!! We'll have to plan an extra hour in the trip............give ourselves enough time to drive around Dutchboy's DZ ego!!!!!
  6. Of course you don't have to pay that much. But, the other side of the coin is, if you can afford to jump more than once a year, you can afford $25 once. Any suggestions on how to pull this off? I realise this has the potential to be highly risky, but a little faith in your skydiving community will be needed here. One possible suggestion is I take in the $$ and then turn around and write the big guy a check and mail it on behalf of all of us. Another is I make it a money order and he cashes it against his dz.com account (assuming he has one). P.S. so this doesn't get out of hand, and we actually have a goal to shoot for, it costs around 500 - 600$ to fly to virtually anywhere in the US or CAN. So, why don't we make it $700 (to cover his registration fee and little pocket $$ for beer) Kia Kaha, Pyke NZPF A-2584
  7. I thought we were going to get along until you mentioned that.... I CAN'T STAND that song!!!![gagging tongue] Nothing has ever passed through my ears with a more annoying, and repetitive sound than [Ween's voice]"push'em little daisies and make'em come up"[/Ween's voice] I'll have to sort you out for sure now! Kia Kaha, Pyke NZPF A-2584
  8. Okay, I had this revelation last night while doing dishes and being a basic "house bitch" for the night (not that this is a bad thing) So, I thought to myself, "Hey, DZ.com is a free service provided for our benefit by a compentent, and VERY GENEROUS individual dedicated to promoting the sport in a positive way. He does this on his FREE time and while we praise his name, he receives little more than the satisfaction that thousands of appreciative skydivers in the world rely on him." So, I thought it might be an interesting proposition (and very respectful of us) if we offered the BIG CHEESE something for his efforts. After all, the amount of time we get paid to sit on the computer and chat about skydiving...we could all sacrifice one (1) jump and get this man a little just desserts. I am willing to put up $25 into a kitty to see if we can't send the HEAD HONCHO to the boogie of his choice by the end of the year.!!! And, if EL PRESIDENTE thinks that this is an effort of charity he is sorely mistaken, because we all know he makes plenty AND if one of us happens to be at said boogie, that sum bitch better buy us a beer!!! Anyway, anyone interested? If this takes off, and there is a favourable response, then I am sure Cyber (if he is keen to help out) and myself can take care of the money. To settle any fears, NO this isn't a scheme to make you all pay for new gear for me or more jumps for anyone...and anyways you can always track me down at Skydive Monroe in GA if you needed to. I just feel like giving back to the "MAN WHO MAKES THIS ALL POSSIBLE. Kia Kaha, Pyke NZPF A-2584
  9. a little. But like you, I would only know the song by listening to it, more than by name. L8r, Kia Kaha, Pyke NZPF A-2584
  10. Dude, I have this CD!!!!!!!!! Been a dedicated listener for years, too bad they haven't done much in years. Cheers for the nostalgia! See you in a day! Kia Kaha, Pyke NZPF A-2584
  11. I also failed to mention... I have only really jumped squares, having trained on student gear, visited a Raven for a while, bought a Fury, and am now back on a Raven. Kind of a moot point, but would you suggest going to a Safire first, or just learning on a bigger Crossfire? Kia Kaha, Pyke NZPF A-2584
  12. Nobody has addressed it yet, but the address for the t-shirt is: ravensaves@precision.net How do I know...? Got my t-shirt yesterday!!! Very cool Precision...a free t, a free pin, and free lifesavers!!!!! For that reason alone, i would look forward to a reserve ride (only under good circumstances!! - if there is such a thing) Cheers, Kia Kaha, Pyke NZPF A-2584
  13. Was never told about your "other" circumstances, so I am glad you're coping and doing better. We love all our "girls" here, so you're welcome Pammi. Don't go disappearing on us now. Have a great weekend, and I will let you know how it goes with the Sis. Should be good times!!! [wiping the tear from my eye]Cheers, Kia Kaha, Pyke NZPF A-2584
  14. Hey all, I was talking to my DZO this weekend and he was demoing a Crossfire. He normally jumps a Safire and loves it, but said that the Crossfire was a much sweeter opening and performing canopy. He specifically mentioned the differences in the cell openings and bracings and how it helped the performance. I guess my question is does anyone have any information/comments that would help me decide on which would be better. I am not in the market to buy a new one now, but in a year or so, when I want to go with a smaller more higher performance canopy, which would be better, Safire or Crossfire? P.S. I am not opposed to Sabres, but I am partial to Icarus because they were designed in NZ, so you can leave your Sabre praises out...if you don't mind. Cheers, Kia Kaha, Pyke NZPF A-2584
  15. Hey, I might be a little help here... I have talked to many women in both NZ and US on this topic alone (curiosity killed the cat!! Actually, it is a polite way to say to woman at the DZ..."you have great breasts, how do you jump and not hurt those little babies?[looking into her "eyes" as I say it]) All, but the occasional odd one or two, have said Javelin. I can only imagine with the new Odyssey that it might improve on this (cyber and I talked about this over the weekend) thanks to its higher hip belt placement and the difference in articulation rings). Others have mentioned Vector, and having jumped one for about 25 jumps, I can attest to its comfort. I now jump a racer and you're welcome to jump it this weekend (with my new canopy in it) to see if it is comfy). If you like it...we might be able to switch out containers. I don't mind jumping a dolphin, don't know what they are like, but hey, who cares right?? anyway, if you're keen, you can jump it. Hope this helps and I'll see you this weekend. Kia Kaha, Pyke NZPF A-2584
  16. Eeirrk, we're here! Yeah, trolling can be fun, depends on what you are using for bait though. Unfortunately I wasn't "in house" to cheer the Super 12 on so there was nothing happening anyway...'cause we all know that if I am not there, it doesn't happen!!![full of shite smile]
  17. Just a question.... How the hell did you dump and end up on your back???? I am just having trouble getting a visual. Glad you are okay, and I can relate to the handles experience. We had a guy in our DZ in NZ who went for his reserve and his hand slipped off his reserve as he went for it (after his cut away) so he dropped his cutaway and pulled his reserve with both hands and as he did he threw it out of his container and hands into the air. WE had to spend 3 hours in paddock searching for his bloody handles!! Kia Kaha, Pyke NZPF A-2584
  18. Way to go Mooose! I know the feeling and can definately relate. I am stuck in my house waiting on my reserve to arrive in the mail so I can take it to the rigger and get it installed. So, that is the ONLY reason I am not there right now!! Have fun, play safe, and share your toys!!! Cheers, Kia Kaha, Pyke NZPF A-2584

sorry cloud9, I knew it was a lot, but I didn't want to be more false than I possibly have been. AMEN. But this is unlikely with such heinous acts of "animal" brutality still going on. Sorry to get political on you guys, I don't mean to - especially on a friday, but DAMN, this shite pisses me off. I know we aren't going to settle anything on a ng about skydiving, but god, enough already. Kill de sum bitch and get it over with. Anyway, definately throw out...it's more fun to pack!!

MC208B, you suck. I am at work in corporate hell and I can't even go out to jump after work because I have to wait for my reserve to arrive to give it to my rigger (currently switching my old reserve to my main and have bought a new reserve) Kia Kaha, Pyke NZPF A-2584

    Execution

cdunham, I didn't know anyone in the bombing. I am motivated by all the time and energy we put into something that in the end should be dealt with swiftly. Take the OJ case for example (another can of worms entirely, but bear with me). Taxpayers spent millions of dollars mounting a case and over a full year, trying to dot every I and cross every T to be sure justice was served, and in the end, the justice system looked like it was bought. I am an economist at heart, but I still believe in the notion of an eye for an eye. I think about it only in terms of what is it going to be like when he meets his maker and his conscience is clear because he had a good defense team??? That isn't justice. That is hypocrisy. We believe everyone should have the "right" to a fair and speedy trial...EXCEPT if you were either rich or were going to further the career of the hotshot lawyer who took you on as a defense case. Then you deserve the longest, most expensive thing our government can provide. It's a crock. What about the local car thief? He gets suspected, tried, convicted and processed in a matter of months. That may not be fair, but it is speedy. Just because he attacked a federal site, doesn't mean we have to prolong this. And, as far as taking a humans life...my only answer is I think his ONE is ample compared to the 50+ he took. Kia Kaha, Pyke NZPF A-2584

I agree with you wholeheartedly Doasfu, a human being does deserve a COMPLETE defense, but the man admitted his involement (could be wrong, but that is how it came across to the public). And, if he wants to die, then hey, who are we to stand in his way. as far as skysluts interpretation of being a martyr, I don't possibly know how he will be martyrised...aside from the family and friends of those intimately affected by him, and the history books, this guy's gonna disappear in the memory of the public in a year, so if he has some grandiose illusions of being immortal, he'll find a rude awakening in the afterlife (which ever side he ends up on). Execution

It's official... He will not be put to death on Wednesday, May 16. The justice dept. are making it sound like they are doing it in the face of justice...try "spitting" in the face of justice! Anyway, guess this will be another continuing saga. And when they have their time to go through these documents...then what...will more stuff surface around the date for the next execution??? what a load of shite and a waste of OUR money!!! I read a statistic in school while researching a paper. It takes $500,000 to execute a person in our legal system, with all the bills and motions and the like that surface to put him to death, this figure becomes close to 3-5 million. Conversely, it takes 750,000$ to keep a prisoner alive on death row a YEAR. Do the math quickly and you realise that if we had killed the fucker in '96, we would have saved over 2 million ALREADY. "a fair and speedy trial" Whatever!!!!! Try "a largely publicised, opinionated, long, drawn out, waste of tax dollars trial that will in the end...keep you alive in jail wishing you were dead!" I think we should change the Constitution. Peace Kia Kaha, Pyke NZPF A-2584

    Execution

I am inviting all sorts of wrong interpretation and a boat load of shit from you guys and gals, but here is my .02$ It was determined in 1995 that McVeigh was guilty and should be put to death by lethal injection. It was proven in the "fairest justice system in the world" (as it is billed by the justice department). So, why the HELL does it matter if 3000 pieces of paper turned that haven't been sifted through by his defense attorneys as to whether or not he did it!!! Kill the fucker!!! He not only acted out the most violent act of internal terrorism against the US, but imagine the lives of the people he affected by doing it. Waves of his actions are still being felt and will be for years to come. Now, don't get me wrong, I am all for giving man their due credit against the system judging them, but hell, it WAS proven "beyond a reasonable doubt", so what is going to be in these pieces of paper that gets him off??? I don't like the idea of trying to find a scapegoat for a crime when the guilty go free (LHOswald[debatable on another thread], Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, etc), but c'mon people...the man has admitted his involvement and is now trying to capitalise on his death (selling the rights to an internet co.) and HE EVEN ASKED TO BE PUT TO DEATH. I once heard in a movie that if you put two men suspected of committing a crime in prison and wait until the next morning....only the guilty man will wake up rested. The reason, he knows he did and got caught, so he will get some sleep. The innocent man will stay awake all night wondering why this has happened to him. Does McVeigh ever look like he is unrested???? Kia Kaha, Pyke NZPF A-2584
