  1. In response to both AggieDave and skybytch.... It really doesn't matter what you major in....REGARDLESS of what ANYONE tells you.... IT DOESN'T MATTER.....the only thing that DOES MATTER....is that you excel at it. Taking History and getting straight A's is 1000% better than a Finance major who gets C's and doesn't really 'get it'. Trust me...I fit the second category more than the first. I was fortunate to get 2 business degrees, but I didn't do GREAT in either...so I had a lot of trouble going through interviews...and getting hired. Friends of mine who graduated the same time...who got better grades than I, in 'artsy-fartsy' degrees....got picked up right out of school - and were at a higher level than me by the time I got "in" anywhere. So, what it boils down to...is school is just to show you (and your employers) that you're trainable - that you CAN LEARN.....it really is up to them to teach you what they want you to know...and if they don't (been there, have the t-shirt!) - than you DON'T want to work there!!! Make damn sure whereever you work has a reasonable training schedule for new hires...and then show them how fantastic you are when you get it faster than 'the other guy'. And, display all the positivity that comes with skydiving - on the job....I am known as the "energy guy" in my group - pretty much because I don't have time for the corporate b.s......Hell, I got bigger things to worry about when my 'chute doesn't open - than if the boss doesn't get his report on time....he'll get it when he gets it!! Anyway, stay in school (not that you were considering leaving), go back to school for what you believe is interesting...NOT WHAT WILL MAKE YOU MONEY....and in the end....go to the DZ more!!!! enough outta me..... 2. in keeping with tradition... I speak all English languages....but I understand Kiwi, and English (UK) most!!! Eu falo portugues muito bem.....solo parlo italiano mezzo-mezzo....je parle francais en peu.....ich spreche deutche - nein!.....and.....I word up wif da homeys, a'ight!! Other than that.....I tend to speak my own language most of the time....no wonder nobody gets me!!!
  3. Heeyyy....... As a Scot (of lineage) and piper.... I resemble those remarks!!!! You also forgot to mention that we're raging whiskey-holics... All 3 together - and a skydiver.....man, it is no wonder I don't make friends!!!

    Ferrets are Cool!

Yeah.....ferrets are cool!!! Used to own 2 of them myself, but watch out if you get a runt of a litter...some of them are more vicious than any mean kitten ever will be. Used to keep me in regular supply of bactine and band-aids. Other than the odd one like that.....THEY'RE AWESOME, loving pets!!! One thing I found....the plastic "thingies" on store bought water jugs....they LOVE THOSE!!!!! Used to pull the empty jug all around the house by the plastic spout....funniest damn thing you ever saw!!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  5. Happy Halloween everyone....or so it was supposed to be.... I was looking forward to getting up early - donning my costume and going into work to have lots of fun and be cheery 'cause this is my favorite holiday....... ....but then I woke up and looked across the room to where my dog sleeps - and realised that with the spectral being so thin today - he took his chance and jumped to the other side. He was a BEAUTIFUL Rott/Shar-pei X - who had the colors of a Rotti, but the excess facial skin of a Shar. BEAUTIFUL dog, and so loving. He lived 12 wonderful years and was well cared for....and is going to be missed. Last year he was a Doggie-bone...complete with costume....this year - he took it a little too seriously and went as a ghost! He must have known I was a skydiver too....'cause every jet that crossed the sky over our house - he would bark at them, and chase them away....must have known we hate being put on hold for those damn things!!!! So long, Lord Byron (Byron, for short)....R.I.P. Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic

    San Marcos DZ

I'll be there on the 9th - if anyone is around then....I would love to meet them. Jessica, don't you jump there? I haven't seen you since SDD last year - and would love to catch up!! Anyone else - I hope to see you there!...you can spot me easy....I jump an OLD "red wine" racer with a silver pop-top - and my SJ Sharks j-suit!! Otherwise - I will let you know how my experience goes.....perhaps this is one of "those" dz's that was talked about in the other post!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. 7. Let's see.... I drive a 2 dr coupe - so the window just behind the drivers has a sticker that reads, "Otago Skydiving Club" (for my old dz in New Zealand).... back window has the USPA sticker and an "Airgasm" sticker.... passenger's rear window has "Skydive Monroe 1-800-SKYDIVE" and a large SJ Sharks NHL logo.... license plate surrounder reads "Otago Alumni" And to top it all off....I have pull-up hanging from my rear-view!!! Yup, I'm a geek!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  8. Dove, you rock!!! My ex did that to me and I can tell you from experience.....she didn't REGRET it!!! Talk about the SEXIEST thing a woman can do - subtle - yet, so powerful!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  9. Well, that is an interesting topic.... I have wondered it myself too. I almost got into something with a 32 yr old woman (I am 28) and she had 2 problems with it - thus nothing got started (#1 we worked together-the biggest issue, and #2 the age). I didn't see it as a barrier, but if it was how she felt, then who was I to argue?? I was in a long term relationship with someone 5+ yrs younger and that got to be a bit annoying at times as she couldn't really "get" me at times. I have also had an affair with someone who exactly doubled my age at the time, and while we had a firey chemistry (read: GREAT SEX!)- I couldn't really relate to her sometimes (her youngest kid was a year older than I). That ended without incident - perhaps we both saw it wasn't there. I think above all else it is a timing thing. If it feels right, plays out right, and doesn't adversely affect either of you - then your age (both of you) is insignificant. I don't think you need to 'hide' your age ever - as that doesn't promote the trust element of the relationship, which is paramount. So, if you're wondering - I would say don't worry about it and just go with it. If you're in a position that this could turn into something soon - I would advise you to ask yourself how you feel about it - really. Given your age - are you looking for some fun, or something more definate. Find out what the other person is after and if you both match - then WONDERFUL and ENJOY!!! If you both approach it from different angles - you already have problems greater than age. anyway, that is the best I can do in this state of mind, but remember....you're asking skydivers - and that already has problems!!!!! 10. I flew to the other side of the world for a woman...who ended up sleeping with 3 of my friends before it was all over with!! That was 5+ years of "not a lot of fun!" Other than that, I have tried singing "happy birthday" to my girlfriend at the time - in front of her whole CHOIR class....and I couldn't sing to save my life!!! I guess that would explain why she left me a short time later....Whatever - chicks are dumb!! Well, all those outside of present company!! skydiving chicks ROCK....just look at this past weekend's JFTC!!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  11. I drove a car INTO a church as a kid.....does that count??? Should have seen the look on that congregations face when the came out after mass.....yup, going to hell for sure!!!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  12. Dove - you make me think of what my girlfriend last year did.... only she used a WHOLE HAND......MINE!!! I can't convey how powerful that orgasm was, but I felt it pulse up my whole arm - I know she would highly recommend it!!! (recommended reading...."A Hand in the Bush" - very interesting - and HIGHLY informative) Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  13. Let's see.... Like Pop, my closing pin necklace is ALWAYS with me... then there is the pic of me in a hybrid dive with Eric Deren filming (photo by Randy Rock)... a pic of me walking off the landing area at SD Monterey Bay while I was visiting my Mum last year... 2 centerfolds from Parachutist... a nalgene water bottle with a USPA Member sticker and a G3 Mirage sticker on it.... 2 cartoons related to skydiving... My femur xrays hang on the outside of my cube and provide interesting conversation for passers-by.... and then there are the last 5 months (and growing) of both Skydiving and Parachutist piling up in my drawers. Yup, think that is it..... and Skybytch...that isn't fair....If I were to describe what the office at our dz looks like...it would be the same...so no fair...you work at a Skydiving company!!! 14. Okay, here is my "official lesbian" take on the matter.... Angelina has that 'dirty, I have been around the block and LIKED IT' look about her, but 2 things go against her....previous husband (not that BB isn't a bad guy, but really....you knew that fire wasn't going to blaze on)....and, this whole I have famous father, but don't talk to him...WHAT IS THAT ALL ABOUT?? J.Lo is ALL ABOUT THE FAME!! I mean, first P Diddy (the rap mogul formerly known as Puff Daddy) - who helped her launch her music career - don't play boys like that little girl!! Then the slumming marriage of the dancer groupie - W!! Now, this whole Ben Affleck thing...."my career isn't as big anymore...if I get people talking about me...then I can still sell records!! I am SO OVER J.Lo!! Now, the other possibilities mentioned are runner-ups in my book. Yes, Gwen is hot, and she does kick ass (pyke afraid his will be next!!) CZ-J/Douglas made the biggest mistake of her LIFE when she married him...I mean, love is nice and all that, but can he really treat her as good as I would have??? (pyke's jealousy not showing at all here!) Finally, and this may go against some more "traditional" GUY standards, but there is one who shines above all others....... KATE WINSLET!!! I could list at least 100 reasons why she shames all the others, but I will only name a few.... One, she married for love and then had the strength to kick his ass out the do' when he was found cheating on her (I love a woman who tells me what to do!! Clay, I thought you'd be into that too??) Two, she has "classic beauty"...on par with Audrey Hepburn (but in no way compares - but that is another thread)...she doesn't have to "try" to be beautiful Three, she is DEFINATELY the type of person you can grow old with.....she has wit, charm, a wicked smile, and talk about lips.....WOW - good night Jolie...c'mere KATE!!! Four....What was it about Holy Smoke that didn't sell you on her body?? Firstly, you get to see ALL of it....second, she isn't some svelte, un-natural specimen of estrogen...she has back, tummy, and thighs...and I am ALL OVER THAT - REAL women are SO MUCH MORE ATTRACTIVE...know why?? Cause you already know what they look like....slim models only look good for a couple years...but a real woman looks good FOREVER!!! K, enough of Pyke-lust. That is all I have to say - well, here anyway....so I will go fantasize about this a little longer...and try not to get up anytime soon. Don't want to scare the other ladies in the office!!! 15. I remember her name....at least, I have the H.S. Yearbook to help when I forget However, at my reunion this month...I found out she is now a TOTAL DYKE....and that makes the second person I slept with in H.S. to go that way!!! If I only knew they had the tendencies when I met them....I would have been game!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  16. yup, it appears it was all a farse after all. Guess I need to stop thinking so much in the morning....proving to be bad for my health. Ahh, how I miss my varsity days....I didn't have to think all day if I wanted - now I am expected to everyday by 8:30a! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  17. my favourite discipline... that part just after you leave the airplane...and right before you start your run out!!!....oh, and those ever so finite moments after the 'beer light' goes on. Yup, that's my favourite discipline! What you do, how you do it, what you fly, and how you fly it....ALL = SKYDIVING! We're all in this together, as long as we all land on our feet - who cares about the rest of it!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  18. I would have chosen a different (bigger) out!!! At least that way....I would have the same life, but with my original femur!! Actually, it has been one of the best things for me (if you can buy that one!)....I work out 3-5 times a week, I have lost over 40lbs in 5 months, and I am much happier now then I was when before I broke it...so I guess, NO - I wouldn't go back!!! As far as skydiving goes....I would only go back...IF I COULD HAVE STARTED SOONER!!!!
  19. S&*t....can you all imagine a designated place in restaurants for skydivers!!!! HA!!! Paper napkins, paper table cloths (not too fire friendly!!), plastic utensils, and above all else....a "DO NOT ENTER - SKYDIVERS AT PLAY" sign in the front of our section....with a disclaimer at the bottom...(entry into this area is done at one's own risk of any of the following: nakedness, bad language, alcohol abuse, recreational illegal narcotics, and, oh yeah, skydiving terminology that escapes the rest of the world!!) Hell, they would have NO business - except us....AND we would all have police records by opening night!!!!! Too Damn Funny!!! I was just thinking about what someone said earlier....after many a beers at a boogie.....I resemble PRECISELY what this "guy" is trying to segregate....wonder what he would say when he saw me walking in!!! "um, mam...can I move to that other table...that gentleman is a skydiver...has WAY more fun in his life than I do....and I DO NOT WANT TO ASSOCIATE WITH "THOSE" PEOPLE!!!!!! (pyke is struggling to maintain his professional demeanor whilst laughing hysterically to himself!!) Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  20. Having started this thread....I would tend to agree with you jraf....this is a disgrace to the general population that his lobby group "claim" to be speaking on behalf of. Scarier still - is that lobby groups like this are the ones that get bills passed...squeaky wheels get greased...if they make a big enough deal about it...something might 'actually' happen! I would appreciate any thoughts of our "northern" bretheren.....if there are any MI jumpers out there...please reply. Is this actually getting airtime up there?? Are people taking this crap seriously? Personally, and I claim to be NO EXPERT (I have lived with a blind guy for a year and a half, volunteered with Disabled Skiing in New Zealand (serving ALL disabilities - physical and mental), and 2 members of my immediate family work directly with the handicapped)....so again, I am NO EXPERT...but this is a F*&^ing DISGRACE!! Firstly, I would love to see this guy "walk a mile in their shoes"...I GUARANTEE he would see things differently. Secondly, studies show that, autism for example, is actually the brain working at 2x the speed as a "normal" human being. One might interpret this as being hyper-intellectual - or smarter than the average bear!! 1% of the population have this affliction and most lead normal lives, under the supervision of a care worker. Who is to say that they don't think we have annoying habits?? They just don't communicate as well as we do - perhaps they communicate better!!! (something to think about!) I know this is a thread that doesn't have a long life, but it shames me to think that the land of "opportunity and promise" allows individuals like this the time of day. Freedom of speech is something to not be taken lightly, but for christs sake....read a book - watch television - read the newspaper....OPEN THE MIND!!! Pyke retreats from his box.... 21. Some of you ATL'ers out there might have heard it this morning on the radio, but I wanted to see if there really are people out there who think like this. Now, don't be afraid if you are....we are all friends here, and your opinions are your own and SHALL BE RESPECTED, but...... Would you (as a consumer) support legislation that proposed to segregate the mentally ill (in restaurants and other public eating venues, and the like) because of their (and I am quoting the guy on the radio) "loud, obnoxious, drooling behaviour"??? Apparently, there is a "coalition" (which claims 000's as members) in Michigan that is trying to lobby for this to pass in MI's state congress. The "guy" claims that it puts him off his food, and given the choice he would not choose to eat near "these people" - so, like smoking sections, there should be a "little place of their own" where they can eat how they eat, and we can eat how we eat. Your thoughts.......??!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  22. This whole post gets right back to one I did earlier this month about why girls blow off guys (not like that ). If you didn't want me to ring you, don't give me your number...then when I do ring you, and you're not face to face with me....simply tell me you don't want me to ring you anymore - that seems so much simpler than, "yeah, ring me later this week and we'll do something" - then NOTHING!!! Here is a situation I need some help on... Been in a semi-relationship long distance for 2 years with a woman I had been with for nearly 5. After 2 years of only seeing each other for 3 weeks - I was excited to hear she was coming to visit for 3 months. Sounds great, right....gets better. I met this girl that I work with the other night for drinks and am totally smitten!! We have talked and shared and admit to both really liking each other, and wanting to see more of each other.... My question is what do I do now??? Girl #2 knows about and is fully aware of the situation with Girl #1 (the same can't be said in reverse), but I feel I have moved on from #1 and would really like to pursue #2 - but #1 is going to be here for 3 months...putting anything with #2 on hold. Any suggestions are welcome - whether critical or otherwise! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic

    Wednesday funny

BTW... quatorze - your quote is by Buffalo Bill (character name) played by Ted Levine (actor name). I'm not trying to diss you or even upstage you, but you happen to be quoting my all-time fave movie - so I thought I would give you a name to put under your quote... in case you wanted one. 25. Because the mechanics of your legs is now vastly different!!!! You try learning how to run with one leg longer than the other - by a considerable length!!!! Other than that, it isn't easy being me at the moment because I seem to refuse to keep the past back there. Doh!! If it weren't for that....it is actually pretty easy to be me!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
