  1. Not certified anymore, I should go back and take another class. Did it all when I was a lifeguard in So. Cal and did an infant one before my daughter was born. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  2. What, with all that happy calculating, we are all the dorks??? Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  3. Oh Yeah, eaten by wolves ... Reminds me of that scene from Conan the Barbarian when Conan is a kid and he watches his father eaten alive by wolves. Bad All Bad. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  4. Everyone wish him a Happy One! Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."

  6. December 31, 1988, his name was Robert Schwartz. We snuck off from a New Years Eve weekly poker night with all of our friends and it was after an ice hockey game (can't remember who was playing). When I was in high school, I hung out with the high strung Speech and Debaters who came from a wide range of backgrounds. We were not the "nerds" but rather most of us jocks who just kicked ass in debate, mock trial, Congress and Original Oratory. Anyway, we (all of our friends) in Speech and Debate got together for weekly poker nights. We'd sit around and do the most lude things like smoke cherry cigars and eat the worst junk food you could imagine. The nightly entertainment was anything from strip poker to who could belch the loudest to things I think you just had to be there for. But it was fun and we were all just a bunch of high strung teenagers in high school. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  7. This sounds like something right out of American Pie (the movie) Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  8. Well, that was 29 up to the day of my 30th. I'm hoping there will be some blue skies ahead though ... Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  9. Thanks for the great story. My Birthday was November 10th too. Too bad I didn't read this then, would have brightened my "real" shitty 30th Birthday. So you turned 30 too? What time were you born and where? Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  10. Oh, You're making me laugh!!! Thank You. I really needed to laugh like that today. Its good Karma, I made you guys chuckle and you made me laugh. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  11. I have fears of being overweight, disease and something bad happening to me so that my daughter grows up without either of her parents. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  12. I got a 95, should have been higher due to some mispelled words but I did manage to score an extra 10 points for knowing "the smell of colitas rising up through the air." Don't ask me how I knew that Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  13. I would have to agree with PLF King. I think being eaten by a shark would have to be one of the most traumatizing ways to die. And burning would probably be the next. Although I hear most people who die from fires die from smoke inhalation first. Very cool that Aviatrr saved his friend's life through CPR. Thanks for sharing your friend's story and it must be a nice feeling to know that one of your friend's is still here thanks to your help. Way cool. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  14. When the anger subsides, the grief sets in. When we met you told me all you wanted was for me to be your "Jennie O". No one will ever understand what was between us. You would drive up in your manly big white truck and pick me up just about every night until we were living together inseparable. You vowed to me that you would be mine forever and that I would be yours too. You told me you would always protect me and that I would be your princess. You were so excited when you found out you were going to be a Papa. We made the most beautiful little girl. All I ever wanted was for you to be my Randy ... my Soulmate ... My protector ... my husband ... the father of my child. First you chose to leave me and now you have chosen to leave our daughter. Our little girl will never know her Papa. My heart is broken. I weep and am left with a GIANT QUESTION MARK. What do I tell Dakota? If you're anywhere where you can read this ... What do you want me to tell Dakota? Blue skies Randy, may you rest in peace Its going to be a great 30th Birthday. Sorry to those who are reading this. I will not be able to attend the Memorial Service in Illinois Monday, it would be more appropriate that I stay in California and take care of our daughter. I am still grieving and it will be hard for me to have closure with this.
  15. Hey, I went to that Boogie with Chop Chop and was his rodeo partner on some of those hybrid dives. Does that make me famous too? It was funny because we showed up together and everyone thought we were an item. We sure fooled all of them huh Chop??? Good times!!! Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  16. Tonto. Wow D515. We're not worthy, we're not worthy Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  17. Wow, would you two like get a private chat room or something??? We could entitle it the Sexual Adventures of Chop Chop and Roys Play Thing. The old saying goes do we post in your bedroom ??? Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  18. Gia, I live near and go to school in SF at SF State. Great city, I think your nephew will love it if he is somewhat liberal and open minded. As far as affordable ??? You are moving to like the most expensive place on the planet and trust me I have lived in most of the most expensive places. Will probably be a culture shock coming from Utah ... SF is a very diverse city but I can't think of a better place to go to a culinary school. You can find anything there ... I am looking to relocate to a different state and I can say that I find out a lot of good info about places on the Web. Especially if you belong to AOL, you can just jump on and look at the City highlights, weather all of that. etc. PM me if I can help with any questions. Blues, Jennifer Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  19. And the thread marches on. Hey Vinnie, you've got em rollin with this one ... Gotta love those contraversial topics of the day Kallend, I love your sense of humor ... Sorry don't mean to post whore ... (I'm NOT sorry ) Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  20. I really like that quote and it is so true. Eventually Karma does catch up to you. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  21. Amazon, There is a lot of credence to what you are saying and you do have some very good points. I am glad to see you put your opinions into a format where you aren't outwardly attacking individuals or calling them names. It makes what you are saying much easier to read and hold much more weight. I can relate to your feelings about "the type" of man you are speaking of with that good ole boy mentality, women should be in the kitchen yada yada yada, conservative Republican BS like education for the rich only, who gives a damn about the environment let's just drill up all of Alaska and turn ourselves into the ends justify the means for our own personal greed no matter the cost to other individuals, their families and the planet. No President or politician is free from guilt or lies. In my eyes being a politician and being a liar go hand in hand. Some are just worse than others. I think it is important to look at the intent behind their actions. Unfortunately we all have our own agendas just like politicians and politicians are also people and people make mistakes. How a person carries themselves after making a mistake is what spells it out for me. Also some mistakes are worse than others and the intent behind their mistakes also matters. For instance, Pres. Clinton lied under oath about his relationship with Monica Willinsky. He made a mistake to have an affair on his wife. OK, but did that really affect his working capabilities as President of the US? I don't agree with what Clinton did, but I also disagree with the notion that every American needs to have first hand information about what the President does sexually in his oval office. It is nice Amazon, to see that you are a strong voice for women and Democracy. Just remember that not all men are like that and Vinnie for one surely isn't Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  22. Niiiiice!!! Congrats! Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  23. I was watching an episode of The Practice and this topic was on the show: how does anyone feel about a woman who sees the man who brutally raped and killed her 4 year old daughter and then shoots him before they actually arrest him? Yes we all know it is wrong to kill and the woman ended up being acquitted on First Degree Murder but convicted of Second Degree murder. She was sentenced to life and when the jury read the verdict you could see the shock and anguish in her eyes. I believe her attorneys will Appeal it but what does anyone feel about a case like that? Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  24. Wow, Velo Glad to hear you are safe and everything turned out okay. I had a similar experience with line twists and I recall checking my altimeter at 1800 feet which was 200 feet below my hard deck set on my ProTrack. When I got on the ground I asked myself, did my Protrack not beep at my last warning altitude or did I just not hear it? Or did I hear it but at that moment my mind was so focused on dealing with a malfunctioning canopy that I did not recall hearing the beep? The bottom line is that I would not rely on hearing a beep. Dytters fail all the time, especially when they run out of batteries. I was glad that I remembered the little voice in my mind that said don't forget to check your altimeter and see how low you are. I was lower than I thought and realized I was coming super close within a second or two of cutting away and pulling the reserve. Since I was already well on my way to getting out of the line twists I continued to finish that feat and see the outcome before cutting away. I had the gut feeling that it would be okay and I was right. I recovered the canopy 100%. I am so glad that one of my friends is still here after a close call relying on a dytter. Sometimes, I think our perception of time is altered in certain situations like having to use your emergency procedures, unless you are just one of those pros at it and have tons of cutaways. I still have never cut away a main parachute (knock on WOOD) but have been amazed at how much time actually passes by having a high speed mal when it can feel like time is in slow motion. That is why I like being fresh on my Emergency Procedures and like them to be as automatic as possible. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
