That is funny Kai that I come across your thread, you live in Sullivan MO and are asking where to move to after a divorce. First of all sorry to hear that you may be getting a divorce that part is not funny, but I went through a divorce about a year and a half ago and spent at least a year trying to decide the same answer to the same question. And ... I came up with your neck of the woods in Missouri. I can understand your desire to move someplace new and different. I knew for me after all that had happened in my experiences that I was definitely wanting a change and to move out of California and Hawaii. Since you are solo (meaning no kids) you have all the freedom in the world to decide where to go based on only you so that does simplify things a bit for you ... I was initially planning on moving to Texas (San Marcos/Austin/San Antonio) area or Florida (Orlando/Tampa/somewhere in the Keys) and my third option was looking at Washington state. I have a 3 year old daughter so I had to place a lot of thought on an affordable place to live, good public schools, good wholesome people to be around with solid values, good DZ, places for me to work, finish my education, etc. When I began to hang out with a friend of mine who lives in MO, he invited me down and we had a blast. He showed me around the Show Me State a bit ... I not only realized that MO was not on my list of choices and should have been, but I had been developing a strong like for the state and a strong like for my friend too. After visiting Texas this summer (granted I never made it to Austin or Hill country like I had hoped) I realized Texas is a great state that I liked a lot but not exactly where I would want to live. So it became a toss up between Florida/Missouri/Florida/Missouri. (BTW, Austin and San Marcos look like nice places to live with a little higher cost of living than MO but not too much higher and I have visited San Antonio and it is also a very nice place but it gets very hot in the summertime). After more time and more thought developing, I realized that my skyhottie doesn't live in Florida , but it doesn't snow and the weather is nicer in Florida

Ok its 3 am and I just got home. Chop Chop, I may have to meet you there at Byron. Chances are if you come by my house at 9am, I will still be in bed. Also, I have not yet got the buns or cheese or the wine. OK call me a slacker. I am tired now and going to bed so I will see you all in Byron after I get more than 5 hours of sleep ... That way I can show up well rested and with buns, cheese and wine. Plaything, I hope ground school went well for you.It sounds like the SketchyMeister has taken good care of you and if you end up jumping without me at Byron, just remember, skydiving is very fun, that is why we all keep coming back for more and don't forget your pull priorities: #1) Pull, #2) Pull at the correct altitude and #3) Pull while stable. If there is any jumping and you do your Level 1, I will be there with you in spirit and don't ever forget that we ladies do kick ass. I'll see you all later tomorrow. Centripetal vs Centrifugal
NoShitThereIWas replied to champu's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Ok so I have a question ... those rides you go on at an amusement park, where you stand up and your back is leaning against the pad. It spins and you feel the force in your tummy and everywhere else ... the centripetal force is accelerating you toward the middle or the axis and the centrifugal or pseudo force is what you feel in the opposite direction??? How can an equal and opposite force be a pseudo force? Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say." -
Aaaaaah, now master makes more sense of situation. Yes, micro airplanes with micro participants. Unless the weather gets better, we may be doing hop 'n pops below the clouds. Oh well, I am coming for the burgers, wine and good company anyway ... Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."

Sketchy, I think it is very big of you to post your apologies online. Of course there are some people who won't read or listen but that is their deal. And I know you really didn't mean what you said. Like the very wise MikeFreeze said, we all say things in life we regret. Sometimes we can't take back our words. Some people take responsibility for their actions and have the strength of character to admit it, apoligize and feel sorry, others don't. I think your character can be seen in this thread. Your post shows that you are sorry for anyone who was offended by your comment. You won't be able to take your words back but you learned something and you did what you could to try and make it better. That is all you can do. Press on.

Wait Troy!!! First of all, I miss you too. (But I am moving to Missouri and that is not too far from Illinois)
-
Troy if you go to Perris take everything. Great DZ and visit the Bomb Shelter, but yeah, getting waivered was a pain in the ass. They wanted to see my logbook which I had but gave me a hard time cuz my last jump was not signed. They sort of questioned exactly how many jumps I had. I tried to show them my AFF-I rating card and they still wanted to know how many jump numbers I had and that my last jump was signed. I did manage to get through the process but yeah, be prepared for the waiver and hopefully it won't be that big a pain for you. I don't remember being recorded ... And, overall, the people were very cool and it was a very nice place to jump. And the Bomb Shelter rocks. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."

Is a Nobel Laureate someone who has received a Nobel Prize? If so, I knew of one who taught at my old university. I have known and worked with a couple scientists who have had honorable mention in the scientific community but I don't know if that classifies them as Nobel Laureates. That is such a great picture! That plane looks like it will do the job. I also know of at least one other person who is coming out to Byron on Saturday. He's not a DZ.commer but his name is Gary. In an email I told him I may go out to Byron to jump if I jump anywhere on Saturday and he said he wants to jump and will go to Byron too. So there's another "warm body" for the list. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."

So how many jumpers are necessary to keep the plane running hot per load of 5 loads? Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."

OK OK that all sounds good. Anything bigger than a KA with the door the size of an otter can't be bad. What time are ya leaving Chop CHop? Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
