  1. In Britan, Australia the left pedal is the clutch or the brake if you drive an auto. The solid pedal will pin you to the seat if you push hard enough but that is your legs not the engine. The car wont go anywhere until you push the accelerator which is in the right! "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

  3. Try not to bring up your political shit in here, we are just having fun. Once I am 'allowed' back in the SC I will debate that shit all day long with ya. Unlike you deniers, I don't let my emotions run my life and my decisions. You are talking through your anus when you make such comments. keep it in the appropriate forum. 6. that reminds me of the joke (not sexist) How many freefliers does it take to change a lightbulb? A, 5; one to screw the light bulb in and 4 to film it. I am a freeflier among other disciplines but that makes me laugh every time. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  7. That is golden and yeah rear wheel drive is the duck nuts in my book too. I love oversteering and hate under steering.... "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  8. I'm buggered if I know, but the only cars I can think of that have thm are Subies, V Dubs and Porshe's. Light aircraft also use them. They give more power so I guess that is consistant with less fuel economy. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  9. That'l knock the parafoil sales in asia a bit... Heeeeaaaaaps of accuracy there. I heard the PD factory team will compete on these at the next US nationals, in accuraccy of course, not being funny. will be interesting? 10. huh, you will find those stacked 10 high at the dump in Queenstown NZ(literally), they are renowned for guzzling gas and breaking down and expensive to fix here in NZ, not sure if thay have the same specs here as in the States though. They are good cars when they go and our ski field roads have corrogated, metal roads so that explains the broken ones in QT. If the road is sealed I imagine they would last alot longer. Horizontally opposed engines have never been great on gas, it suprizes me that you say they are, what milage do you get out of your subie? 11. gee that sounds like great economy for such a size of car... you can add a rev counter yourself and not exceed a certain rpm. I'll have to consider one of those when i'm in America nex time... is there many of them? "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  12. ths is true, but to reiterate my point; cars were made to last (at least by the japanese) 20-40 years ago. A simple car with a carb. and no bells and whistles would last for more than 500,000ks if serviced properly. I have had a car with 450,000kms on the clock (1980 toyota corona - 3T) and it was economical, did not burn (much) oil and was a solid s a rock, some new cars don't last at all. the only reason that car died is because it was involved in an accident. my friends father is a taxi driver and they buy their own cars, he buys Toyota Camry's and keeps them hot, hires them to other drivers at night and services them on a schedule, he sells them when they hit 500,000ks and they are still mint, good cars with that milage. If you rev the shit out of 'any' car and drive it like an asshole it can/will fall to bits/break in no time... Some will fall to bits even if you look after them. I keep mine below 3500 revs (diesel) "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  13. You hate those cameras or people that pretend they are not cameras? "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  14. don't judge a car by it's price, you could buy a car of your parents for $100 that has a value of $20,000- for instance. I would be hard pushed to get my car for that price again if I tried, the engines are used in hilux (tacoma) utes (pickups) so quite in demand- low supply. Horizontaly opposed engines have never been the best for economy (good for power), so not a good comparison, but a 1974 toyota corolla for example that was serviced regularly and looked after will be just as, if not mre economcal than many cars in the same class that are near new. Demand has grown on them but only a few years ago you could get them for around $500 in NZ. Economy is economy and the purchase price should be accounted for. My car is far from new it is 21 years old but it is reliable, comfortable, economical, safe and.... ..a vehicle. Too many people are hung up on new cars and would not be caught dead in a car older than a few years... ... those people are idiots! 15. Sure do; 1 = Realworld 2 = Dreamworld You can't get one of those for $1000, so you would have to drive some serious k's to get better economy than my car. they are a good car though. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  16. 1- Economically 2- If you are loaded for me my current car is pretty darn good economically. I have a 1989 toyota 1989 Toyota MarkII (aka-cressida) 2.4 turbo deisel. The 2lt is a very reliable and economical engine and the power steering, good suspention and overdrive make this car very comfortable to drive. It burns about 9 litres for every 100km and has only burned about a litre of oil in the last 7000km. i drive about 400km to my home city about every 2 weeks over mountains and windy roads so i'm sure i would get slightly better economy if was driving on flat straight roads... It cost me only $1000 to buy and I plan on spending another $1000 on it to bring it back to new condition. If I was loaded I would not go overboard but for interests sake I would buy a Tesla model S signature I like the generator in the chevy volt but the Tesla modelS are much nicer looking cars. if the roadster wern't so F'ugly i'd like one of those. 17. Women, if they didn't have a pussy, you'd find them stacked ten high at the dump! - Whats should women wear out most often... ... the carpet between the kitchen and the bedroom. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  18. I have never jumped an old set but Ihave jumped plenty of icarus tandems with more than 2000 jumps with no problems. those figures are to keep thier production levels up more than having anything to do with common sense. srong requires that you cut out the label and send it back, and rigger with reasonable sewing skills can put a tail patch in and get another 1000 jumos out of it AND the trade in. 19. Not around here buddy, there are too many outspoken 'jump on the bandwagon, all round online internet good guy, post whores' to justify that rationale. This is how I work it out and believe me I have 2 brand new micro sigmas and have thought about it quite a bit. I a betting on 2000 jumps per rig, I expect we will get more than that as 'EVERY PLACE' I have worked for get more than that but lets see what happens; Sigma + main + reserve + spare drogue + aad = $15k - 10% discount (just ask) = $13500 + 4 linesets (fitted) @ 500 = 15500 + spare parts @1000 =16500 rigging $1000 = 17500 17500 / 2000 = $8.75 you can still throw another couple of grand at it, risers, patchwork, kill lines, closing loops, rubber bands and keep that below $10 a jump. There are more extras but I will expect to get 2000 jumps out of a rig in 4 years. So the aad will be carried over to the next rig and so will the reserves, containers should get more than 2000 jumps or you are doing something very wrong so this is quite a conservative estimite. I would be quite interested to see how the $25+ figure gets calculated because even at only 1000 jumps it still lingers below $20 If someone tells you they 'bin' their canopies at 1000 jumps they are most likley lying. Many will replace them at that stage and will sell them on to get some funds back which reduces the cost again a little. but to throw a canopy away that only has 1000 jumps is quite idiotic and a waste of valuable recources. Unless (of course) the canopy has been mistreated by a harsh environment or treatment. A container should last well in exess of 2000 jumps and the reserve should last as long as an AAD. If you use the reserve too much then you need to re-asses your packers training. I will challenge those that say they 'bin' thier canopies at 1000 jumps to prove it by sending them to me for inspection, I'll take them out to the trash for ya and pay the postage... I also challenge those same creatures to put thier budget out there to show us where your maths comes from. Having said all that, I believe one should make a resonable amount by renting out tandem gear and more than $30 per jump even up to $50 would be feasable. but $70 is excessive. 20. Can you send those to me, I'll pay the shipping! What type do you use? "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  21. Yeah.definitely sporty..ESPECIALLY on no wind days.... the canopy I have now lands slower than my Samurai did... and its 20 SqFt smallerSly I am just too damn old to run that fast any moreSlySlySly seriously, you should not have to run out any kanding if you flare correctly, maybe a couple of steps, i fly a JVX loaded at 2.5 now and i cannot remember running out landings, maybe if the landinarea is like sandpaper, but any sort of grass witha good fare, you should be able to slide it out. as for the samurai thing, i don;t think it is a good idea for anybody with less than 500 to be on a elliptical canopy, i hold back on saying cross braced, as i really beleive all canopies should be or could be cross braced. there has been numerous debates about wheter tandem canopies should be cross braced, and that argument is just stupid, of course they should be. The tachnology for deployment sequence is not really up for it yet however and closed noses not only reduce parasitic drag, they slow the opening down. by slowing the opning down they also slow reinflation and reduce internal pressure if the canopy is loaded lightly. The crossfire has semi closd nose too nd along with that comes a minimum reccomended wing loading, I saw first hand what happens when a crossfire hits turbulance with (much) less than 1.4 WL - not pretty! The Samurai was designed to be a high performance canopy for experienced pilots, but that is not to say (with some work on the opeings/slider/nose) that a saffire or sabre or any canopy for that matter would not be improved by adding more structure to the ribs and increasing the lift produced but the top skin surface area of the airfoil. the price would also increase, which i beleive is the main factor. Just because a canopy has cross braces, does not mean it has to be pointed at the ground and flown aggressivly. 24. if you profile is correct it astouds me that you could get bored of tandem videos alone, let alone the sport in general... sheesh I did my forst 800 on an old racer (no freefly) with a mavric 200 (in 2002) and was still haing fun, once I got my vector3 I was like a kid in a candy store. I have done as many tandem videos in a year as you have (on your profile) total jumps and I am not yet bored of them (not even close). Sacring yourself seems like a stupid thing to do, at just over 1100 jumps you should stll have heeeaaaaps to learn, maybe skydiving is not for you. If you are bored with it and are resorting to scaring yourself, you should quit for the benefit of the rest of us and the reputaton of the sport. Sorry to sound hard on ya but at just over 1100 jumps you are far from achieving even a fraction of what you are capable of. 25. Vectors have enclosed kill line in the dbag so it is basically impossible for the kill line to grab the canopy if it is cocked with when the canopy is already in the dbag. The bridle is also a sheath around the kill line in there. Havng said that I always cock it before putting it in the bag, I always have and always will do it in that order.
