dude the 2 109's are not mine(wouldn't own one), and they wont record after being turned off or put on standby after a jump. no settings have been changed you don't need a manul to push record! and i'm talking about filming a tandem landing 'like professional styles' so it is very important the camera decides to work when you need it to. this has happened with both of the 109's at our dz.one guy has to film his whole canopy ride to capture the landing not too efficient with the tapes and batterys eh! i use a trv18 and a cam eye the optics in new sonys are 'far' narrower than before, just a nother con of going smaller. anything built after a trv18/27 or pc9 is shit as far as i am concerned. the optics are narrower. they f**k out all the time. unless you go for the 3ccd action. these 109's cant handle skydiving around here either both of the ones at our dz quite often will not record a landing after being put in stanby mode once freefall has finished! the poor bastards have to record thier whole canopy flight to capture the landing! i jump a trv18e and love it. i have to use everyone elses cameras to do in flight footage and find it utterly anoying that i have to use the shitty touch screen and menus to access any faders or edit search(they don't use edit search cos it's too much of a pain in the ass, hows ya good video?) when i can do it all with the tap of a button! all this 'progress' seems to be a step backwards to me. 500 jumps? dreaming buddy. here wae can jump from 100 jumps with a camera! 200 to jump with a tandem! you have been jumping for 11 years and have done 100 jumps so currency may be a problem but ask your dzso what you local recommendations are. there is no reason why you can't jump with a camera soon! it will probably make you jump more often! i like to roll on my side as the parachute is opening so i can get a photo of the line stretch with canopy and jumper/s then transition to my back to watch the opening and back track at the same time i then look forwards to get some real speed (separation) happening. roll over on my belly flare open (3000')and look at the horizon as the slider comes down(i have had an over extended neck from watching a hard opening on a 'spinletto') i have a top mount and a heatwave 120 that 'can' have funky openings. i have seen far too may people stay on thier belly look up until the tandem goes out of frame and then dump straight away. our tandems don't use rsl's so what would happen in a cutaway situation? get (horizontal) separation! i have a vector 3 and i am quite happy with it except for the fact thet the riser covers come loose all the time. the harness was not built for me but fits me very well. other vector 3's i have seen have had the same problem? is this a common problem others have noticed? can i fix it with a rigger or do i have to put up with it? i am buying a votexii for a second rig and will use that for freefly istead of the vector for safety reasons. i think it is a shame the vector does this as vector is a big brand name and has contibuted heaps of technology to the sport and such a little thing makes me not want to own one anymore!
