  1. Help me here Bill. The canopy flies due to "relative wind" creating positive pressure in the cells and to some point creating a "lift factor". It makes no difference which direction the wind is blowing if it is constant. Only the ground speed is effected. However, in turbulent wind conditions the "sudden" decrease in the velocity of the "relative wind" can and will cause the canopy to deflate and/or stall. The canopy does in fact know what the wind is doing in relation to the airfoil. It does not know what the ground speed is doing. Relative wind and effective wind. I believe you are a pilot Bill, think turns around a point or figure 8's. Constant airspeed, varying ground speed. Blues, J.E. James 4:8

  11. FWIW, I don't even work as an aerospace engineer, I'm current working on a shoulder mounted missile system for a major defense contractor. If you think you might be using this system when it hits the field, let me know, and I'll warn you so you can stay away from it and protect yourself. Can I say..............I'm sorry????????? 18. Many of us do. The question is how many tandem instructors and dzo's allow a cameraman who is not qualified? I know of a couple RW tandem examiner/dzo's who will take anyone with a camera helmet when it is a paying customer and they take a big cut out of the video charges. Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  19. Derek, People will argue the finer points such as loading v.s. license until the day they die. Great start though. The only argument you will receive from me is concerning the CI. All Instructors should be "CI's". Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  20. Michele, I love you two. I just would not kiss that mouth with all that filthy language coming out of it! Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  21. Tonto, You in heap big trouble injun................ I started flying in 1972 jumping in 1979. I've broken my left elbow, had both knees operated on, broken my nose, broke my left wrist, pulled my groin twice, pulled my hamstring twice, and have scars on both knees from dragging over the ground. But, that was playing softball!!! Not until this year when I broke my right wrist in Dallas have I been injuned, I mean injured........... Never injured or had any type of accident in an airplane. The reason you don't want most pilots to jump is that they will find out just how much fun we're really having!!! Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  22. Guys and Gals, Please cross over to trivia and sign up under "suspensions" to support Bill. All it takes is an e-mail. Blues, J.E> James 4:8
  23. Come on, Spit that out, I meant, stop that. My E-mail is on the way. Please post here when you e-mail so we can keep some sort of general count.
