Is there a website for the WFFC ? I am from the other side of the pond...don't know much about this boogie and would like a little bit more info. Thanks, Alun.

From the comments here....ZP EXE doesn't seem to be as impressive as my Hornet 170 and I would at least like something comparable. Maybe a Sabre 2 - 170 put into the rest of the package I was offered (Vortex II container and 170 decelerator res). I'm not overly fussed about the performance of the reserve (just want something that will get me down!) Any thoughts on the Vortex II container?

Talking to wuffo's about...

Sorry - I'm no statistician but what is a motor vehicle participant? What does that mean and how does that extrapolate to 10,000 miles of average journeys? -
Dont seem to see many formation pics from below. Looks cool.

How do you Deal with it?!
skydivejersey replied to turtlespeed's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I struggled with this for years. The main problem is I can't just nip to the DZ for a quick fix. I have to get on a boat. Drive for a couple of hours and then wait. 5 hours travelling really means its not worth going for just a day. I came up with 2 solutions and have put one in to practice and am half way through the other... 1) I set up a club and established a drop zone (took 7 months but it was mostly in work time 2) I'm learning to fly so I can cut my travelling time down to an hour (8 hours in only 37 to go!). Don't tell me I'm not serious about this sport! -

I prefer the stats side. I heard that 17 skydives a year is equivalent in risk to driving 10,000 miles. To wuffos 17 skydives sound like a lot and 10,000 miles doesn't. Then I go back to "so why aren't you skydiving......." -

The skydivers Handbook

I have to say I was a little disappointed. But only a little - probably expecting a little to much after all the great reviews it had. -
What do your parents think of your skydiving?
skydivejersey replied to andy2's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I think there is an option missing on this pole. My parents fall somewhere between the top 2. They came along and helped out during the first boogie I organised and loved the atmosphere and vibe of the whole thing. Then people my parents and I knew died in seperate skydiving accidents within a month and suddenly (not surprisingly) there not quite so keen. But at least they understand having been involved, even in a on the ground type of way. It took a day before my old man was running around in a boogie t-shirt trying to talk strangers into doing a tandem. -
One of our instructors took a full AFF course with a student that went from wuffo to completed AFF in 36 hours. Not bad.

Its a brand new rig. I would have bought another Hornet but PISA has been taken over and they don't make them anymore. You can get a Pilot now but its nearly 75% more expensive than the Hornet used to be.

thats one mamma of a flag! -
I have a hornet 170 at the mo. Handling differences that much? Your heavier so that's somewhat disappointing. Not a flier then?
-
I've been offered a complete new rig with ZP Exe, Vortex II container and decelerator res for £1,500 (US$ 2,400). Didn't think it was bad value but am unfamiliar with them and have never seem one in the flesh so any comments received with thanks.

HI BOB!

We are running an AFF course in Jersey for 5 days from 7-11 July if you are interested. All the instructors are English and the views are fantastic plus all the jumps are onto a beach! Lots of jocks about to keep you company. Plus we've just been shown to be the sunniest place in the British Isles! More info www.jerseyskydive.com if interested. Blue skies wherever you decide to go! Al.

These seem like good value. Anyone ever use on and any thoughts? Thanks, Al.

Help..Floatation gear question
skydivejersey replied to paulagc's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
We have to have them in Jersey because our DZ is a beach. We use the buddi-buoys. They are reasonably cheap and you strap them round your wrist. I get them direct from the manufacturer. His name is Mike Hodges. More details on his website www.george.co.za/buddibuoy Alun. -
12 pints of Stella ought to do the job.
-
And a seriously good lid, an armoured jacked and some decent boots!
-
yeah suppose your only looking at 80% more power and 30% less weight!
