  1. I have heard rumor that old skydivers that don't use ear plugs develope a ringing in their ears. Any truth or explanation to this? ...FUN FOR ALL!
  2. I haven't bought a pro track yet but would like to know what you guys are talking about. True Air speed vs. ????? How does it messure differently and why would you have the two different modes? ...FUN FOR ALL!

    low pulls

2500 is low for me, and I regularly open at 4000 to 4500. I would consider 5000 high. I have 65 jumps, but I really like flying my canopy. ...FUN FOR ALL!
  6. Do it against a wall to get the feeling of having your back straight. Then pull your hands up toward your side like you are really flying head down, now dock on your dogs nose! 180 then dock on your dog's tail! Disclaimer: Standing on your head is a dangerous activity and should only be done with proper training and equipment. ...FUN FOR ALL!
  7. Supples is a trade name...right? Isn't it a nylon based material? Where can one come across Supplex? I looked at all of the fabric stores in my area and the little ol ladies have never heard of the name Supplex. I ended up building my jumpsuit out of a Poly cotton blend and it turned out really cool! ...FUN FOR ALL!
  8. Have one, use it, and haven't heard any reason why I should not use it as a young skydiver. What are the situations that would require me to unhook it prior to cutaway (if there was time)? ...FUN FOR ALL!
  9. My question for education is...On what level does it need to occur? Do instructors need education? How do you know that what they are teaching is appropriate? Not all instructors have the same philosophy on WL. Can we regulate the educators so that they promote greater safety? ...FUN FOR ALL!
  10. I am a little torn, however, education and some regulation don't seem to be a bad call. Education alone doesn't cut it. Is there a standard that the educators are supposed to adhere to? I fly the canopy that was recommended by my instructor and DZO... 1.2 with 65 jumps ...FUN FOR ALL!
  11. Now that you mention, as soon as it stands me up, I have my hands around the risers/toggles steering the unopened canopy. I don't see that toggle release would be a problem. If it is, I will make adjustments. ...FUN FOR ALL!
  12. Flying a barge isn't going to allow you to do super fast and crazy flying, but if you can do everything on a big canopy, don't you think that you would have more confidence on a smaller canopy. I would rather feel comfortable and start trying more things, than spend many jumps and landings getting comfortable. ...FUN FOR ALL!
  13. And possibly right down on to my toggles? They are velcro type toggles and the adhere fairly well. Is there anything to worry about? ...FUN FOR ALL!
  14. I think that I may not have had the chest strap loose, so I didn't have the full spread of the risers holding it down all the way. Although, I am not sure if that would make a big difference. ...FUN FOR ALL!
  15. So when I go to the Rigger for reserve repack, I will have him put softees on...although I may get a new main soon, so I should probably wait. Should I also look into soft link bumpers or some kind of toggle protection? What is the cost associated with S-Links and covers (including rigger costs)? ...FUN FOR ALL!

    Upsizing

Thanks Ronnie! Is that what the rig originally had in it, you've told me but I forgot. By the way, I really want to give you your "Crosswind" back. We should get a beer after work or something. Let me know if you come up to Mother's or something. ...FUN FOR ALL!
  17. I put it behind my head. My helmet has a little bit of a lip, so I thought that it would help hold it down in place, but I felt like it still wanted to pop up a bit. ...FUN FOR ALL!

    Upsizing

I am considering upsizing from a Sabre 150 to a Sabre 170 for "margin of error" sakes. Will I need to buy a different pilot chute or d-bag? I put my buddy's 170 in my container and it fit easily, but that was using his d-bag. My container is a Mirage G3. ...FUN FOR ALL!
  19. I have rapid links with covers and it is a bit difficult to pull the slider down, I am considering soft links. The one time I did loosen the chest and drop the slider I was worried about the slider going back up over my head. I have to work on my gear a little before I can get in to this whole method. ...FUN FOR ALL!

    FAQ

Over in my neck of the woods, it would be common to find a Javelin, Mirage, Vector, or similar with a Sabre or Spectre in it. I am not sure what size you would want or what is available... I have also seen a few people flying Falcons and Triathalons... ...FUN FOR ALL!

  23. What makes a pair of shoes skydiving friendly... I see far too many Tevas! (In my opinion) I see a lot of Old school skate shoes... (cool, but very flat) I see a lot of All Stars (again very flat) Most shoes seem fine in the air, but not a lot of sole for those landings, or support for walking around the DZ ...FUN FOR ALL!
  24. I know that loosening the chest strap and bringing the slider down lets the canopy spread out a bit and changes the performance, but what flying characteristics does it affect? Is it more stable? Turn faster? More control? More response? Does it introduce any characterstics that would not be advisable to younger pilots, or does it make it a little safer and more dependable/predictable? I do understand geometry that is affected, but I would like to know more about the resulting performance. ...FUN FOR ALL!
