Call Sonic at the Ranch Pro Shop. He has made them as well, and will work for food. Cya.

Quote: "as to eric placing 9th, there was no luck involved" I never said it was luck, and given the canopy he was flying, he had to have it very dialed in to be competitive. "If he was doing the circuit this year with the same canopy he would still place top ten" Well, you would have to put yor money where your mouth (cursor) is to back this up. I doubt it. When Eric pulled 9th, the year was 2000, I believe. At that time people were still flogging their non-croass brace canopies and remaining marginally competitive (as I also recall Craig G. took 3rd on a Stilleto 107 at the PSN). The X-brace revolution was just picking up momentum, and its light years from where it was then. These days, forget it. There is no way anybody is going to flog a stilleto, or comp cobalt into a medal at any PST or equivalent meet. There is much to be proven with all this talk. Put up or, well you know how the rest of it goes. Cya. Tree One final one: "we are nothing if not overly diligent and cautious in our testing" Thats not what it look like when the Troll was rushed to market. Without the vents it was completely innappropriate for BASE. By all means, good luck with building good canopies. I hope you can come up with something groundbreaking. To date it appears to me that Atair is a step or two behind.

Wow, how could you leave JFK off the list. He is the one who started it all, and is IMO, the worst president we ever had. Of course many others in positions of power felt the same and solved the problem. Second choice: Clinton. White trash at it's best.

Quote: "a couple years ago Atair did sponsor a pro swoop team. after a full year of competition Eric Butts was ranked 9th overall competing on a 120 comp cobalt ! a 9 cell vs about 160 x-braced pro competitors." and "we dont feel we have anything to prove anymore" This should be a fine marketing slogan for Atair. You should start off by saying, back when we were still copying the Stilletto, because we hadn't yet figured out that these cross barce thingys were gonna be so popular, our pro team managed 9th place. We figured hey, we ain't likely to ever do any better than that so why bother to keep competing since we really don't care what anyone thinks of our products anyway. Why would any company feel like they have to keep proving themselves to paying customers in a slow moving sport where technological improvements are non existant, and one wingy thingy is the same as the next. Very nice work, very nice indeed. And don't forget: "the onyx has basically only hit the streets for about a month now" Even though it was advertised on the entire back page of Parachutist something like a year ago. The entertainment never ends.

No RedBull. I'm drinking Rock Star Energy Drink. Twice the size for the same price and it taste better too. BTW- That was a quote from Pulp Fiction that just happens to fit well here. Cya soon, Skin. Tree

So you want to BASE jump? Here is all you need to know. When mutherfuckers get scared, mutherfuckers do stupid shit, and when mutherfuckers do stupid shit, thats when mutherfuckers die. So be like Fonzie; What's he like? He's cool. Its all in your head. Tree

You should note that Bridge Day has seen hundreds of 1000+ jump skygods, many of whom have pounded in, been carried out, or landed wet only becasue they completely missed the landing area. With your experience (nil) you should PLAN on a water landing, and HOPE that you can hit the river, maybe even near the edge. Even if you can hit a 10 metre pea pit 10 out of ten times that does not mean you will perform well under the pressure of jumping in a very hostile environment. By all means make the jump. Try not to pitch on your back and then land in the water. You will have just as much a rush from that jump as you would from during a jump where you try to hit the LZ and berak your ankle. Cya.

Back when Yuri was young and cool a pack job would never have sat around for a month, much less a year. Now that he is old and brittle, however, pack jobs regularly see a birthday and we get to have cake and ice cream at the party. Thank goodness he is older and wiser, as now he gets young girls to pack for him. Yuri, phone home! Cya.

Tim was shooting some video at BD 2000 if I remember correctly. He also designed some pretty cool BD t shirts. Tim had a really analytical view of jumping and had done some very detailed studies of base deployments. Ahhh, the original Wad jump. Don't forget that after he blew his Wad (jump), he then chopped, long before chopping at BD became de rigeour. Cya!

I have an extra rig and we have an elevator that runs great. Bring lots of beer and party supplies and we will throw you right off of that A. You will learn to pack fast because you will have to pack for both of us. Don't worry, you will have plenty of time to rest on the elevator ride. Wide open landing area and a bar five minutes away. Real base, real easy. If you want you can give us some lunch money, but we can't take cash for learnin you to huck. Cya. Tree

Also note that Marvin jumped a FX, not a VX. In 2000 he used a wad deployment. The freebag system worked great, and was hanging in the steel months later.

I'm curious why you are interested in how a Blade compares to a VX 39 or 46? I doubt that a Blade of that size whould be landable at all as it is a different class of canopy. The Nitro has been manufactured for several years, and has been available in US markets for several as well. Based on your other posts, I can tell you that you should not be flying one, and really should not even be thinking about sub 100 parachutes. Quote: "man this is the first time ive seen this can i get any info on the nitro/blade canopy" Its sort of one of those things where if you don't know what it is, you couldn't possibly be ready for it. Can anyone reccomend the make & models of good (and preferably old and inexpensive) harness sewing machines? Starating to make some base rigs and don't like having to borrow equipment. Thanks, Tree

A few years ago CHilis was the place to go. Very friendly and they let us put video up on the TV. They were big supporters and we went back nearly every night. Sorry to hear its changed. Maybe just one person messed it up, but I think its probably still base friendly. Cya. Tree

Hey DOug, I don't think that anything the Nick said was in any way disrespectful of Dwain. If anything, it demonstartes that Dwain, while only in the sport for a few years relative to its total existance, embodied its true possibilities. I just don't know where you get these ideas. Nick IS a real pice of base history, and in fact, IS the only thing close to a base historian. Whether he continues to jump or not is his choice, but that does not change what he knows. Your lashing out at a true embassador and gentleman is really harsh and uncalled for. Why do you take tings about Dwain so personally, especially when it was in fact a positive statement? I notice that the JSX has "new dome slider technology". I bought my dome slider from Mark at the Icarus service center way earlier this year, and he has been making them for probably a year before that. Now my VX opens like a dream. THe tech might be new for JSX, but it has been around for a while. If you like your VX or FX but hate the openings, call Mark at SKYWORKS PARACHUTE Center. Very nice. Cya, Tree

Hey Shane, I have to say that your response is a lot better than your pal JT. I appreciate that we all want to do anything we want. It is tempting to think that Perrine is just an open playground where anything goes, but I think that everyone needs to be realistic about what we have there. If we start taking pogo sticks off, or setting up a BMX ramp to launch bikes and rollerblades (and yes, even water skis), it starts to look a lot less like a serious sport (that we puport BASE to be) and a lot more like a bunch of lunatics set free on a bridge. I agree that DOn should not have called the cops, but Don IS our single biggest advocate in TF. WIthout Don there would be no legal jumps off that bridge today. If Don asked you not to do something, there just may have been a reason. Perhaps the city council has already mentioned concerns with things elevating above just jumping off wioth parachutes. Maybe they forsaw the out of control attitudes that would lead to said pogo sticks and and other junk being hucked. Just keep in mind that a lot of people watch that bridge and yes, there is poll of public and BASE jumper opinion about activities there. If you are catching a lot of flack, maybe there is a good reason. There are plenty of places where you (we) are not under a microscope to do as you wish. Tree "Bad attitudes get beaten badly"

For those that don't read the Base Board anymore (does anybody), here is JT Holmes attitude towards jumpers who don't care for his reckless behavior regarding the Perrine. Hi You Guys!!! check out the great shots I got of the water ski BASE jump featured on the news... an entire sequence! it is found on line at http://www.grantkphoto.com/base/index.html this jump can also be seen in JImmy Halliday's next video...stay tuned to blinc to get hold of his film this fall. all are still welcome at my bridge... come on up to Idaho and have and have splash, but be sure to leave negative nancy at home. Pesimistic Paully isn't allowed at my bridge either. so, dont forget to check out the pics at: http://www.grantkphoto.com/base/index.html later jt Personally, I am going to write RedBull and tell them what I think of their sponsored pussy ass jumpers running around and doing things that endanger access to the premiere object in the US. I've already sworn off Red Bull and suggest everyone do the same. Try Rock Star energy drink. Its twice as big as a Red Bull for the same price, and it taste either the exact same or a little better. I've always said that people are mighty brave on line and this twat JT is no diffferent. . All in the name of showing off for the camera. If you're so cool, why not do all of your faggot ass carnival stunts off of a cliff in Moab. Ohhhhh, you might get hurt there. It might actually be dangerous, or possibly even an original idea. What a DICK. Tree BASE 610

Troll, Troll, stupid little Troll. Please go to rec. Or better yet, just go away. You obviously have NOTHING to offer in the way of knowledge, and seem to have no real desire to learn from those who know. Dick!

Freefall (including wingsuit) impact with anything, including a rock talus, is not a survivable scenario. It would be instantaneous. BSBD

There was a reply from the GREAT Shane McConkey over on the base board. I tried to reply, but as usual I can't my posts to stick to the BASE board. Here is my reply to shane, jimmy halliday, and JT. Simply put, you guys are really making asses of yourselves. Your attitude is exactly what will get Perrine shut down. It is exactly what happened at Yosemite so many years ago. "Were real base jumpers and we'll do what ever we want to"! We're so much cooler than you. I don't know you guys very well, but I'll tell you the same as anybody else. If I saw you standing on the rail I would wrap your bridle around your feet and push you off. Your attitude sucks. I would be glad to have a personal discussion with you about this. Ohh, you did it to get great video? Oh my gosh, why didn't you just say so. That makes it OK to be a giant DICK to every other jumper. I mean, when we can't do legal jumps from Perrine, we'll all be able to stand around and watch your dorkey ass water ski jump and think how cool you are, and how much you did for everyone by shooting another boring ass same as the last dozen piece of shite BASE video. Just what we need! Way to go. Have any more original ideas? Its hard to believe your not filty rich with genius thinking like that. Stop by after your nap and I'll give you $1.00 to think of more great ways to support BASE. Unfucking believable.

Quote "I simply feel more comfortable jumping from the top rail and I am a safety oriented jumper...that is why I \have used it select times in the PAST and wont anymore." Hey JT, The rail has been off limits for at least 4 years. Its the ONE thing that they have asked of us. Its going to be a lot less safe in the base world if this site goes away. I haven't been out there in a couple years, but I sure would like the oppotunity to return. We are self regulating as far as Perrine goes. This means if anyone sees anyone up on the rail, tell them to get the fuck down, and then maybe give them a little bitch slap. Better yet, grab their PC, wrap it around their feet a couple times, and give them a push. I'm sure they will not jump from the rail again.
-
I don't think a flame fest would be productive, although it would be fun and is certainly within reason given the scope here. What I think is due from these jumpers is a public apology to the entire rest of the BASE jumping world. How can you possibly justify these actions? Jumping from the rail has been prohibited for at least 4 years now, and EVERYONE knows about it. Direspecing the local law enforcement is pretty stupid too, given that they have supported us for years. JT, Shane, and Miles- You stand judged before your peers for acts of incredible selfishness (and frankly, stupidity). What do YOU have to say for yourselves?

They will also let you water ski behind the big bilkot (boat) on the way back from the landing area. It was like club med BASE.
