And I expected the same from you. Now we are both predictable shmucks who waste far too much time blathering away on the internet. Yet another inner directed individual wasting vast amounts of time trying not to gain the approval of others on an on-line forum. Tree BASE610 AD219 D something or other MB #2756 Were Cooler Than you #1 Other Cool Skydiving Cliques #22 Not many jumps in 15 years. But not trying to prove anything to anyone by listing all of this BS. Have a nice day.

If it makes you feel special to consider dragging a round off your moms roof a base jump...... well.... your special. But to call that kitty stunt (which yes, at 8 years old I would have thought it was cool too) a BASE jump is giant stretch. If Jack and Jill went up the hill did they just climb K2? Same deal. Cya.

"I started BASE jumping at the age of 8 using a buddys Airforce round from the roof of his house" Now that has got to be the funniest thing I have read all day. I just have to ask, do you really beileve that? What if you went from the dog house with a umbrella? Off the curb with beachtowel? All this time and I had no idea I was hard core when I was 5 and went in out of a tree house and broke my leg. I wonder if that made it into the incidents reports for that year? Now I've heard it all.

Wow, Talk about needing attention. Relax. Quote" True BASE jumpers are not militant goose-stepping Nazi punks". What are you talking about? Just becuase I think that skydivers have no interests in what goes on in base does not make me Nazi. It's great that you walked away. Stick with the planes, and the unlimited BS like you just spewed. There is no "representative" of the base community. Just people who jump off of things. All I said was if you don't BASE jump, what exactly do you care? Same with the competition skirt ironing, although at this point your skirt seems mighty wrinkled, Maybe the competition ironing would be a nice new outlet for all that anger. Why all the drama?

Thank you, thank you very much. Elvis has left the building!

Nice video. If the PCA was done properly he may not have picked up enough speed to lose the board. I guess that no one has explained to JT advanced issues like velcro peel force VS sheer force. I also note that JT can't hit dry land even with a 2 minute canopy flight. More reasons and proof that you should learn canopy flight skills in the relative safety of skydiving, not base. And finally, it was still a pretty dumb thing to do after the water skiis and rail issues from all of a week before. You are so rad. Can't wait to meet you, JT.
-
THis should be a little obvious, JP, but if you don't base jump you don't have anything in the game. Assuming that you are not into professional skirt ironing, would you waste as much time and energy talking about that? Basically, if you don't base jump, what do you care? It has nothing to do with non base jumpers. It surely has nothing to do with skydivers and skydiving. BASE is its own thing, and had been for decades. Its threads like this that I knew were inevitable with a BASE zone on the DZ. Its great that you have an opinion on everything, but unless you huck, its all mental masturbation. Cya.

WOW- This thread has really gone on. I'm just curious, which of you guys actually BASE jump? Just wondering dus to all the posts over this thing. Cya.

Hi Lou, Water is pretty bad for F-111. Although sun is much worse, water separates the fibers and seriously degrades porosity. A good rule of thumb would be 1 water landing = 20 - 50 jumps of wear. Don't get me wrong, these rounds could have the porosity of an old T shirt and the tourist jumpers wouldn't know the difference. I think that BPS made the best case regarding the distance of fall before the system tensions. I would really doubt that someone goes in, unless our intrepid "instructor" forgets to tie off the SL, or leaves a pul up cord in the containers. I only hope that at least he is not using cones instead of soft loops. He will never get rich doing this. My guess is that he is simply trying to capitalize on the tourist aspect of the bridge and make a few extra bucks. I do think that he is lying when he tells them how safe it is or that parachtes don't malfunction. THe mal rate on rounds is unquestionably higher than squares, especialy give the likely stability problems from total neophytes with very limited instruction. Cya.
-
My opinion is that he is not part of the BASE community. He has been throwing high school students off for several years, as far as we know. A static line off of that bridge is as close as you can get to a "safe" jump, and even with a nasty mal (I know, they are impossible), you would probably still survive. I don't think there is really anything that can be done. He's not one of us and is using the bridge like ant other user. So long as he is not having the jump from the rail or having them hold onto surfboards or sommething, it's really no different than the other dozen base courses that go on there (OK, its not a course, its an amusment park ride). If you really don't like it, go out when he runs the course and explain to his students that the gear they are jumping is older than they are. I do think its a bit silly, and a mighty sketchy way to earn a very few dollars. Cya.

Hey Bryan, Long time no see. Sorry, I won't be at BD this year, as my wife is due (with a son) on Oct 28th, and that is a little too close to be out of town. I have not called the sherrif, yet. I'm talking with Tom about what we can do. That is the question. What can we do? How do you solve this problem. As far as I can tell, its already the Sherrif's problem as he ended up talking to JT. Lets also face facts, not everyone in TF is supporting base. These activities give them ammo. So I ask again, what can we do, short of asking the sherrif for help, before he decides to provide it based on calls form others? Hope you are doing well, Tree

What up Bella, I'm not local no more? -
Tom, I really think you are being snowed. Its like catching a 5 year old with his hand in the cookie jar. He knows he's wrong, and that he's been caught, and will say anything to get out of it. It was an arrogant, F-U all thing to do, he knew god damn well when he did it. I have not had the time to speak with the sheriff about this, but I am going to this afternoon. I'm not going to sit around while some cockmunch punk with an attitude ruins one of the few things the base community has. Yes, some will say its a dick thing to do, and that you never call the fuzz on another jumper. But I would rather take some action now to prevent closure of the bridge than be sitting around bitching about what could have been done to prevent it. I believe that the threats against JT et al are justified. If WE took care of business WE wouldn't have to worry about the man closing us down. Since no one else seems willing to take action and teach (beat) some ethic into JT, I'll do the next best thing and see what he can be charged with. Maliciously jumping fromm the rail needs to be a chargeable offense, otherwise ass hats will keep doing it until we are closed down. Moronic (childish) jumps with objects not designed in any way for freefall absolutely should bring an objects thrown from the bridge charge. If this is not the way to deal with this bullshit, I would love to hear from others what WE can do. The attitude from these dickheads is obvious, and they have said "we don't care if we are the people that shut this bridge down". Well I care, and I take action, and since I'm not close enough to take the action I REALLY feel is needed, I'll do what I can to keep our most valued asset open. Cya.

What up Colon, Are you looking for competitors, or ballmasters to ballmaster/video the comp? I'd be up for ballmastering and videoing the comp. Let me know if that is what you are looking for. Cya, Tree

Now that is funny.

Truth be known I had my VX packed with a freebag deployment system, ready to swoop the New. Its been a dream of mine for several years. Frankly the water level was too high and the wind to squirly, and ater watching your jump I decided that there would be better conditions in years to come. Of course Marvin did it again, this time using a reserve freebag, but nothing will ever compare to his FX WAD jump. Yes, the winds were honking and you got lucky. But hey, anyone taking a Xbrace off that bridge has some serious intestinal fortitude. (or they are crazy) Cya.
-
Yes Jimmy, they were 20+, and you static lined into them. You are not an idiot for jumping the Xaos at BD, just for the very poor choice of deployment method. It was only luck that you didn't hit the steel and get seriously hurt or killed. Don't flatter yourself with quick reaction time. I was there and luck was all you had. A double gainer from 470' is not old school and boring, but it sure isn't new. These days, who isn't doing that stuff. What do you want, a medal or something for shooting video of a jump that 100's of people do? There are a lot of people doing the same or better, but they're not running around trying to impress whuffos with it. You just don't get it: You (and your pals) are not unique and individual snowflakes. You are not breaking new ground, blazing new trails, or otherwise being original. You are media and attention hounds. Look at me, look at me, look what I can do! Big fucking deal. When and if you and your pals finally fuck up Perrine, you will have all of the publicity you can handle. You will be world wide dickheads, and eveyone will be looking for you then. Grow up and loose the little punk attitude. You sound like a spoiled 15 year old.

Hi Brits, Leave it to a hard core base chick to step up. You go girl!
-
I'm on the East coast, so I really can't do much. You've made it clear how you feel about the rest of us jumpers. We will return the favor. As much as I hate to say it, (and I REALLY HATE IT) I think the police should be called in on this. Throwing objects from the bridge is illegal, and I think JT really deserves to be charged and made an example of. In fact, I will make the call this afternoon and see exactly what we can have JT charged with. You were warned JT. You couldn't be a man and follow a couple simple rules. You just had to be the base bad ass, and now you will pay. Hey Meghan, is there any video of this obvious infraction of the law agains throwing objects from the bridge? It can now be considered evidence.
-
In fact there is some good footage in there, but it is really hard to ignore the attitude that created it. Great for whuffos, but hardly an excellent representation of BASE.
-
Very un-impressive. Sort of like if a couple high school kids got a hold of rigs and and didn't know anything about jumping, and just tried any wild idea that shot out of their asses. Was there a single aerial that was not completely un-stable? And of course, thanks for the relentless jumps from the rail, and otherwise making base look like a circus act rather than any kind of real sport. Very much like Jimmy H's piss poor attempt at a swoop at BD 2002. Very nearly ate steel by static lining into a 25 mph headwind, and then pounded into the water. Perhaps leave jumping to jumpers, and join the circus. Lots of people will see and cheer for your bullshit there. Also, nice 80's hair metal sound track. You really outdid yourself on this one. Boycott Red Bull. Tree I am available for aerial training if you ever want to pursue serious jumping.

Wow Space, You sure do dress up pretty. I didn't see that outfit when we partying in Kjerag. At any rate, you have your work cut out for you trying to convince BASE jumpers that Felix is any good for BASE. Its great that he gets free base adventure, and hopefully RB throws you a couple shillings for technical advice, and keeping Felix from getting hurt or killed on ordinary, simple jumps that everyone does without making a giant deal out of it. I think that it is bad to publisize illegal jumps, use them in commercials, and coporately sponsor them. If fact I think RB should be charged with conspiracy to tresspass, endangering John Q. Public, and for helping Felix impersonate a BASE jumper. Red Bull, A Small Can for A Small Man (Felix). I think you should be working in Hollywood with that tux. Keep up the great work. Tree
-
Hey Space, How's it going. I really don't care how RB treats its sponsored athletes, or if it pays for insurance for its employees (mandatory in EUrope), or if it has ambulances standing by. I also don't really think that publicity has done anything all that positive for BASE, of which 80 percent is and always will be illegal. I have already said that I am jealous about having sombody pay my way for base adventures, that is not at question. I do not care to support a company who's sponsored athletes take the attitude that because they are sponsored they do not have to follow basic base ethics. Frankly, if sombody sees you do it (like say, if you tke television crews to london and then jump a bridge at rush hour, and then put it on TV) that is bad. It is only done for self ego stroking, and to pay back the sponsor for the trip and stiepend. I see that type of stunt as a whoring out of base for personal interests. On the other hand, going to a legal site like Baffin and getting to jump it with helos and getting great video, that seems OK. They get footage, jumpers get jumps, and maybe a site is further opened for all. But jumping illegal sites like that bridge in france, Rio CHrist, etc, and then publisizing it? That simply can never be justified, and yes I think Felix is a punk ass bitch for doing exactly that. Just my opinion, and I'm willing to stand behind it, and back it up. If I see that sort of thing happening, and I have the opportunity, I will provide BASE ethics re-habilitation. Cya, Tree
