  1. Dear Bruno, You have zero credibility regarding the use of rear risers to land a parachute. You have admitted, and we already know, that you cannot and do not use them. Why would you try to explain something you have no knowledge of? Writing lot and lots of words does not change this fact. Using big words does not change this fact. Holding yoursefl out as a expert on any kind of flight is just silly. You are entitled to your opinion, but your opinions are far from fact. , Your lack of knowledge on how parachutes fly is proven by the many inaccuracies you have posted in this thread. (such as "parachutes can't fly backwards, when IN FACT THEY DO)
  2. Quote: The bottom line is that any particular canopy will always stall, at the same tail deflection. You are 100% wrong. Where do you come up with this stuff? The stall point will change based on many variables, especially while in a turn. Everyone knows that planes (and canopies) have a higher stall speed while in a turn. This is extremely basic. In fact, a canopy will stall with no tail deflection if it is going slow enough. You can also stall a canopy by changing the angle of attack using only the rear risers (I understand that you do not use rear risers, but advanced canopy pilots will understand). Quote: "high speeds stalls are not caused by abrupt manuvers". You are incorrect. High speed stalls are caused by the laminar flow separating from wing (casued by over-input of any kind. There is something other than toggles). Quote: For whoever said that a canopy can fly backwards, thats funny. You are displaying poor knowledge of canopy flight. Perhaps you should read Brian Germain's new book, as it may help you catch up to the short bus on canopy flight. FACT: A square parachute will fly backwards. Ariflow over a wing in reverse will develop lift. Don't believe me? Ask any BASE jumper, accuracy jumper, CRew Dog, or anyone else who generally understands parachutes. Quote: "When you don't know what your doing", Enough said.
  3. Hello, I think that you are on the right track. Whther you carve slow or fast is really going to be a matter of how high you start your turn. Every turn will be a little different, so the skill is in starting your turn, and either pulling it faster or slower to get yourself planed out without having to use toggle input. The drill you should use is to keep doing the 90degree front riser final, and keep working it so that 9 out of 10 times you can start dragging feet (be planed out flat) wihtout any, or barely any toggle input. When you can do that, you will know enough to prgress beyond 90s in small increments. If half the time you are coming out high or digging out, you must keep practicing. Do not try to go through a course, lane, or gates until you can do this, as those things add much more complexity. Remember, its not how high, how quick, how slow, or any other one thing; each turn must be flown through to plane out. Wind, air temp, humidity and other factors will keep you on your toes. It is harder than you think and many people progress right past this basic drill. If you take the time to learn this, everything will be easier, and safer going forward. Cya.
  4. Its pretty much pointless with guys like this. Why try to sugar coat it? He already thinks he knows it all. My gosh, one person with some jumps thinks he is ready for it, how could everyone else question that one guy? I don't know this guy and I don't really give a crap if this guy digs a hole with his body. I am quite bored with the attitudes of these ZERO jump nothings. Thats right Skyhole, you rank at pretty much nothing in jumps, skill, and attitude. You knew in advance that you would get these responses, so why did you post? Not enough attention from Mommy? 45 jumps is nothing. You have no business attempting anything to do with high performance anything. Learn basic skills, survive for a year or two, and start a slow prgression that has a long term outlook. That would be impressive and worth posting about. Otherwise you are simply saying, hey guys, watch this! And we all know what follows that statement. THUMP! You can not teach those who are not interested in learning.
  5. Quote "Yes yes, I know, I know, I'm a crater waiting to happen, I'm gonna die or break somethin, blah blah blah, it's all been said so don't bore me w/ how I'm going to kill myself, we'll all die some day." Nice attitude. You should brag to your wuffo friends as they might actually be impressed. You won't make many friends and last very long with that attitude. And yes, with only 50 jumps you are an accident waiting to happen. In your case I'll just wait and read about it rather than waste my time trying to warn you.
  6. I've tried to not post, but I just can't. I appreciate that you are backing up your boy, and in some small faxhion I admire that. This has all been said before. Bruno does not compete because he cannot swoop very well. If he could compete in any way at any small comp, he would. If he did compete and do well I think his head would explode, unable to contain his ego. Since he can't compete, he flies at a high wingloading, convincing himself and a few newbies that it is some kind of accomplishment, and that he is better than all those losers who regularly compete, place, and sometimes win. In Bruno's magical world he IS the best, so let him keep thinking that. It makes him feel special (short Bus Special). Due to all of this, there is not a single well known swooper who can or does vouch for Bruno and his "skill". It is nice for you to back him up since nobody who knows about swooping will. Of course, in a few more jumps you will probably be a better canopy pilot than him, and then you will either teach him something, or dump him for a better swooper. Carry on.
  7. I PMd you about this. I have a file 1" thick of materials gathered to deal with a similar case. Its hard to do much with this case because of the blatent day blazing. Its one thing to get caught doing it right, but this kind of case makes it difficult. Cya.
  8. A very good point. It is worth noting that Vladi had a special set of risers that held the fronts down (an old crew trick), essentially changing the trin to a very steep dive. IMO, the canopy pilot is not doing much in this dock, it is the birdman who has to realy make it happen and demonstrate amazing skill. (That being said, lets face it, Vladi is an incredible canopy pilot) As has been shown, very low skilled persons can manage to land canopies at 4.0. BFD. Those same persons have not competed in any way (scared) or shown any advanced abilities beyond hitting the gorund hard and standing back up. Basically, any moron can fly any parachute, even 10 to 1 wing loading. Landing them is adifferent story. Landing them with a high degree of skill is yet again something totally different.
  9. Hello Mr. Green, It may not be ground breaking to you that it CAN be done, but it was in fact ground breaking that it WAS done; by very skilled people who HAVE actually achieved these things. Quote: "Now I am not trying to, in anyway, diminish what was accomplished here". But hat is in fact what you are trying to do. A downind of 5 mph is permitted, so unless there is proof of greater than a 5mph downwind, the record stands. Quote: "I for one have flown and landed fast enough to do this hundreds of times and had been doing it for more than a year before the 39 made its debut". (way to pat yourself on the back) And yet nobody cares. So then you have to go online to tell people that others have achieved lesser to make yourself feel better. Apparently Luigi IS the man when it comes to high wing loadings and small canopies. Others talk, but bullshit walks.... as usual. Keep talking, somone may listen. As always.
  10. It must be the intoxification that led you to change your jump numbers from 600, to 1000. Thats an amazing number of jumps to have made in the last couple of months. Where do you find the time to drink with a rigorous jumping schedule like that? Between all that jumping and your grammar and spelling classes, where do you find the time to even get on-line? You are an amazing human being, and I really do mean that.
  11. I know that I was thinking that, along with, thank god that limp wristed mealy mouthed yellow down the back Al Gore is not. Anyone who thinks that Gore would have been the guy to have in charge through that ordeal is kidiing themsleves.
  12. Way to plan Kris! Slots go on sale every year on July 1 and sell out in a matter of a few weeks. This year all 450 slots were gone in 7 days. Waiting until the end of August and then complaining about it is what sucks. Did you just wake up yesterday and decide you wanted to go to BD? Have you done any training to make such a jump? There are lots of base jumpers in MI. Ask one for training and assistance and save your FJC money to buy them party supplies. You will be all be happier that way. Cya.
  13. OK, I'll try this one more time. You asked: Why so damn expensive? Answer: To keep whiny bitches who don't really want to do it from getting into "the club". Now you know. Pay or play, it's your call.
  14. Mr Rat, you seem like a real nancy boy. With all of this whining about having to pay to do a FJC, it seems my advice would have been well taken. But no you just keep crying about anything related to base. I really don't think you have it in you. Anyone who really wants to do base will get it done, with or without a fjc. You just don't want it very badly and no one is going to spoon feed it to you. You did not ask a simple question, you came on and cried about having to pay sooooo much money to make one "stinkin" jump. Pay up, or shut up, or go do it on your own. As I mentioned before, if you had anything going for you someone would help you make one pro bono. But all you do is whine and cry, "but I wanna make a base jump" (hands and feet punching and kicking the air, tears streaming down your face.....I wanna jump, I don't wan't to pay, and nobody will take me out....MOM, MAKE THEM PLAY WITH ME! Now quit your crying and take action. You can 1. Pay to play. 2. Be cool and someone will help you. 3. Do it on your own. Make your choice and do it, or go back to the dz. Run along now. Good boy.
  15. Don't sleep on it. Take your skydiving rig out to a tower and climb up and jump off. How hard is that? If you were even a little bit cool then some base jumper would loan you a rig, maybe even give you a few pointers. Personally, I would have never done a FJC. To me it just goes against everything that is base. Go learn it on your own. You're cool and geez, you have 500 jumps and probably have an expert skydiving license. An fjc is a waste of time and money. Gravity will work no matter what. You just have to do your part. Softie.
  16. She posts under Rudderrow on here. Currently lives outside of Philly. Have you asked to return the gear and get a refund? She is not a base jumper, and has barely skydived, so she would not know anything about gear. You might want to think about buying gear from people who do not actually jump. Cya.
  17. "New jumpers and skydivers who want to get into BASE, and how they do it." Yes, this is going to be an important topic today and into the future. I don't think that the topic of "I'm a skydiver and I don't like what you said about my sky-buddy" is part of that. At a bare minimum I think one should either be involved with base, or have an actual interest in getting involved. I don't care what goes on in tiddly-winks circles, nor would I involve myself in their affairs. I think that there are enough issues in base that we don't need the periphery adding their 2 cents just becasue they can. But thats just my 2cents. Cya.
  18. Quote: "I hope you found some lingering sense of peace in writing that response. I truly do. " And the same for you. Unless you huck, it is no concern of yours. You have no idea what it takes to open and maintain sites. Once they are gone, they are gone. If your pal was putting people off that he shouldn't, then 570 has every right to say what he has. If the trash is overflowing at the DZ or manifest is not nice nice with you, well then you have a legitiment gripe. Stick with what is relevant. Cya.
  19. Probably quite a bit too early. While you can land anyting on your rears, hp canopies are the ones that respond well to them. For that matter, x-brace seems to be best suited for that type of input. My xfire felt mushy with rr landings. By all means, practice using them up high. Using rr will get you back from long spots better and in general you will know more about your canopy having flown them. But it is an advenced manuever, and unless you are wringing everything out of a hp canopy, landing on rears is just adding danger with no real benefit. I had well over 1000 swoops before I started using rears, but then again, use of reas has only gained popularity in the last couple years, with the real swoop pioneers starting to use them maybe 5 years ago. I had wanted to start using them but was intimidated, and then on a well timed set up my hands just felt good on the risres and I pushed them apart and wow, it felt really great. The rest as they say is history. Cya.
  20. Is is just me or does Miles always look like he is wearing clown makeup? I think that Rosatia has set in on Miles, and that he does all of these "cool" things to try to pretend he is not an old man well beyond his prime. He looks a lot like an old Aunt of mine.
  21. Publicity hungry dorks. If they ever do anything original it will be truly amazing.
  22. Sounds like a fantasy were all of a suden we don't have to support every last person who manages to get accross the boarder illegally. To bad its just a movie. I read an article in Biz Week about a man who moved his family to Las Vegas. He started a lawn care business, and after couple years he has 70 or 80 clients, and says he has never had a better life. He works outside, makes close to $100K, and when the day is over he's not worrying about too much. He questioned why some say that we "need" cheap hispanic labor to do these jobs when he has been able to earn a great living doing what they only get $7.00 an hour to do. So if they all went away, it seems to me that a lot of opportunity would open up for actual Americans. Too bad its a just a movie.
  23. (standing while clapping) Very nice work Ray & DJ. We don't need no stinkin FJC. Way to show them all how base is reallly learned. Yo' my heros! Tree

    Full moon fun

Its active all over a brightly moon lit East coast. New A opened near the shore and a certain tall jumper got back into things after a breif 5 month hiatus. We miss you Yuri and have infected mushroom spinning in your honour. Come home and play. Tree
  25. This would certainly make him more approachable. I have to wonder how someone who actually made base jumps in the 90s could be in a time warp with "shroud lines" and antiquated equipment. For $250.00 worth of materials he could make 5 tourist base rigs in a weekend, and not have too worry about the label that comes with that kind of operation. Nick, why don't you call him if you know him and tell him our thoughs and concerns. Thanks, Tree
