Hi guys. I had a stereotype day of a typical Monday. I swear I should have stayed in bed. The final thing that happened to REALLY make my day is that I was in my car (in residential) at a complete stop, waiting to turn left and some dumba$$ hit me going 55mph and didn't even have time to hit the brakes. Needless to say there was $4200 damage to my car and various pinched nerves in my neck. The worst part about the accident isn't that I hurt and have numb arms and hands, but that now I won't be able to skydive for a few months! ACK! What am I going to do with myself?!?!?! And typing on dz.com is hard now too with my hands continuously asleep. *pout* Oh well, something good always comes out of everything right? I am just waiting to find out what this is.

I can pack about an 800 ft snivel on my Sabre and therefore have a sweet opening everytime! I roll the nose about 4 times and gently tuck it into the centre cell and I also roll the tail nice and tight. Just be careful if you are pulling low due to flying camera because the snivel is so long. Tee

That is excellent news! Just think, if you can get her hooked, all your holidays from this point forward can be skydiving ones and you will have someone that will NEVER get tired of you stories! There is nothing like having someone that can share your passion with. Tee

Pammi, you should try bringing your parents out to the dz. It is amazing how people warm up to skydiving once they are more informed about it and alot of the skydiving myths are dispelled. My parents are thrilled that I skydive. My dad has been in Aviation for over 30 years and mom....well, she is just as crazy as I am. I took her out for a weekend of partying at the dz last year and there were so many other jumpers sitting on her knee and feeding her drinks, it was a hoot. She was up all night with the best of us!

That is AWESOME news Lisa. With as long as you have been waiting already, 2 months will seem like nothing at all to wait!

Bad weather or not we are still out at the dz for the social aspect of it. We have a 3,500 sq. ft. hanger that is all paved, so we roll up the carpets and pull out the creepers for a great game of "creeper wars". Not a computer game but just as fun. Each team has to slide in from the corners and build formations...whichever team is the quickest wins. It is a hilarious and you never know, a hole might open up and you already have your dirt dive done! Tee

Okay, no laughing, but I was under a 280 Manta!!!!! Yuck, that thing was so big that I was in the plane with the dzo fir my 2nd jump and said he would give me a little extra altitude. I though GREAT! and I preceded to do a S/L from 7,000 ft....well it took sooooo long do get down that my legs were literally numb! And I had to wrap the toggles around my hands a number of times just to get a decent 360! I was very happy to get my a$$ under something that I could actually fly! If you are comfortable under a 170, then a 135 wingloaded at 1:1 will be a piece of cake for you. One word of advice is that it will come in a little fast on a no-wind day so you may want a little wind for your first jump until you get the flare down right.

Hey Slowfaller. I have a Talon1 container, it is a newer version of the one you are getting but the fit isn't much different. It is a very comfortable rig, lots of padding on the leg straps and the back, and easy to pack. If you do decide to go with it for a first rig, I think you will be very happy. Tee

A 135 would be perfect for you then Carrie. I got my gear on my 40th jump and went straight from the student rigs to the 135 and have had nothing but sweet landings (knock on wood) , they are such easy canopies to land and I find when you come in faster and surf it out (even a little) the landing is much softer and easier to stand up. I bought it with 60 jumps on it so I certainly had to learn a thing or two about packing ZP! I do pack with a snivel though....I try to have about a 700-800 foot one, I roll the nose about 4 times and lightly tuck it into the centre cell and roll the heck out of the tail and my openings have been nice and soft ever since.

Hi Venwood. I tried to find this post on the "Talk back" forum to see what answers you have received but to no avail, so I hope I'm not repeating suggestions that you have already heard.

You jump a sabre too?!?! We do have far too much in common...we definitely have to meet at a boogie sometime and cause a little trouble together. I jump a Sabre 135 with an exit weight of 143 (115 + weights and gear) and I can get a nice swoop out of it. So you may not even need too small of a canopy to learn to swoop. I am hoping to sneak my bf's old canopy from him which is a Stiletto 120 and play with it. He doesn't need two canopy's right?!?! With a few bats of the eyes it will be hooked up in my container in no time! hee hee Tee

I know what you mean Stacy. I pack my butt off, the more free jumps the better. This weekend I get to work at an Outdoor Sportsman Show dressed in a bikini top and a grass skirt using the sales pitch "If you want to get lei'd check out the Skydive Ranch booth" and they will hand out Hawaiian leis. I keep telling myself that 15 free jumps is worth it ($375). And Pammi, it is sooooooo true, the more you jump, the more you want it. (as you can tell by what I am doing for free jumps!) Tee

Living in Alberta, Canada, if you want to jump year round you have no choice but to jump in the snow.

Hey Carrie, welcome back. Sorry to hear about your b/f dad, I hope that he is on the road to recovery.

Hi there! Have you checked into DaKine Rags?? They are very thick, very well made suits with every seam double stitched and VERY durable fabric. They should have their tandem master suits online soon...I would highly recommend them and their service.

And other positions as well! Seriously though, I love yoga. When I first started out I found it uncomfortable and even painful at times, but once I got into it and my flexibility increased back to that of a 2 year old, I find it incredibly refreshing. And with the sense of balance that you acquire and your overall body awareness, I think it really helps with skydiving as well. Tee

I learned a valuable lesson this year....never let the pilot spot!!! I was at my "winter" dz and the ceiling started to drop a bit (9,500 ft) and we decided to get our last jump of the day in before night fall. 4 of us piled into the plane and off we went. The pilot, who is also the dzo, decided to get us a little extra altitude and took us to about 10,000. On jump run, we opened the door, only to find about 500 ft of "industrial haze" , I said to the pilot that I can't spot through it and he assured me that his GPS said we were right over top. So, the 4 of pulled off a quick linked exit and held it through the "haze", I took a quick glance down and wouldn't you know it, the dz was about 4 quarters of land away!!!! Needless to say, the 4 way broke off and tracked like hell towards the dz, pulled high, and still landed 2 1/2 miles away in a field full of cows (yup, took off the booties under canopy and avoided any piles that were steaming.) Once we landed, the cows found us quite interesting and decided to come and take a look in the -18 celcius weather while we waited 20 minutes for our ride! But we did get a free jump and a good laugh! Tee

Okay, so does being an accountant but not enjoying it classify as a geek???

At night when it is dark....the accuracy tuffet in the middle of the landing area is always nice and soft. Tee

*bowing down to you* You go girl!

LOL You crack me up Skreamer! It may still be a little chilly here to take nekkie pics....actually, that may not always be a bad thing in a man's eyes for the girl pics, I'm not so sure the cold will be as beneficial for the nekkid men.

Hey Skreamer, I have a tiny little pic of me on my profile.
