Thanks for the tip, we DO have blue cross here so I will give them a call. thanks again!

Hey Pammi, it IS amazing how much you can learn about the sport by simply observing!
-
But I bet if we only participated in Scuba or motocross we would still be covered. I know that my life insurance doesn't cover me if I have a skydive related fatality as well. If anyone in Canada knows of an insurance company that will provide life insurance to a skydiver please let me know.....I am still having no luck!

I still check over my gear (pins, grommets, routing, cypress etc.) each time I pack and before each jump. I try to make sure that I get a pin check before getting into the plane, and check my handles and PC before exiting. I will admit, that there have been a few times I have forgotten the second pin check (already done before putting on the gear, but forgot the one at the plane), but that isn't my standard practice. Most of the time it is my boyfriend checking my pins over and over again before the jump

Hey Zennie. It's not "discount", they have been doing Lasik in Canada for years, that has just always been the price here. I almost fell over when I heard the price they are charging in the US. I think the price difference is that Health Care here is still run by the government and not so much privately, so the price is regulated to some extent.

There is a great article on dual canopies and PC in Tows on the PD website that you may want to check out.

Hey Sis. I wear glasses too and they are certainly a pain when you are a skydiver or a swimmer! For me, I wear my glasses under my fullface so I don't have to sorry about the goggles flipping off in freefall. If you can get a flight to Alberta, Canada, you can get the Lasik surgery done on BOTH eyes for $999, and with the exchange rate of the dollar, that is only about $500 for you. Plus, you can come hang out and get some jumps in with us crazy Canadians!

Have a great week off Carrie!

Hilarious! Think of the money you would save not having to buy a suit with extra drag! (EWWWWWWW!)

This may not be as much of an issue with student gear, but look out for those hard openings too. They can knock the breath out of you....or even knock you out, so I shiver to think what that would do to a pregnancy.

I'm with you on this one Carrie. Maybe she could be an example for Gillette....if you DON'T use our razors.....

Hey Jacko. I think it all depends what job you have as a pilot. My dad has been a pilot for 35 years so I basically grew up in a plane, and know how to fly myself. He flies as the lead plane for the waterbombers, scouting the "hot" spots of the fires and letting them know where to "drop". He is required to fly into valleys filled with smoke and analyze the fires...where the fires will go and what is the best plan of attack. His job is FAR more than just flying and can be very exciting at times.

Thanks for the info, that sounds like some great training. Is the windtunnel experience included in that price? I am also curious to know how long you get in the tunnel.

Hee hee ....Thanks skreamer....Right on! Hey Carrie. It's big, but it has an awesome vibe!

My favorite is the one my sweetie picked up for me at Skydive Chicago. It has a sun on the front with the letters STL. In case you haven't been to Chicago, their motto there is Share The Love (STL). They promote people being positive, so if someone is being grumpy or complaining everyone says "Share the Love"....then once the person realizes they were complaining they respond "Right on"....and if the STL person is happy with the way they said Right On then they respond back "You Rock". It's a cute way to have everyone stay positive!

We are lucky because we are a relitively small dz with 3 planes (a C182 and 2 C206) so when we are swamped with tandems and students, the dzo still keeps one of the wide bodied 206's for the regular jumpers. So we can easily get 7-10 jumps in.

Hi Pammi. I LOVE my booties for RW. Once I got them I noticed a HUGE difference in my abilities while in formation. Once you get into more serious RW, turning mega points, there are more choices in how you turn (not just with your arms) and booties certainly help with that manoeuvrability. And tracking rawks with booties, my track has flattened out considerably since getting them. I would recommend them for anyone getting into RW. I bought my suit after about 20 jumps and I can say it helped me enormously.

Hey Pammi. One word of advice....make sure you hide some clothes where noone can find them. Skydivers at my dz make it a habit of stealing everything you own, leaving you wrapped in your chute for most of the day!

Happy Birthday Froggie!!!!

*FLASHBACK* Oh my gawd....the horrible memories. I think I am still working on stripping that stuff out of my hair!

I think having fun and being friendly are a definite part of the sport, but not drinking.
