World Meet, Corowa 99. Taxi boot(trunk) is slammed shut, simultaneously taxi's car phone rings. Donk, 2 reserve pilot chutes launch. Toogolawah, Qld, post Equinox bogie, 1998(ish) visiting o/s jumper throws rig in hire car to go home to airport, slams boot (trunk). Donk. 2001, Dubbo, NSW. Civvie on "observer ride" in co pilots seat of skyvan , wearing Cypres equipped Jav. Gets out of seat trailing reserve pilot chute. Reports "thud" as pilot "pitched up" for landing, approx 400'. Pilot liked to land by pitching up on final, then dive and use the "flying body" of the 'van to mush on in ground effect. Just stuff I've seen. C. C. Brother Wayward's rule of the day... Does the cars manual recommend driving with a door open? READ THE AAD MANUAL (REGARDLESS OF BRAND). THE KNOWLEDGE YOU GAIN MAY SAVE MY (or even your) LIFE!!! Sheesh. Kids these days... C. The Vigil manual specifically and clearly states that you must turn it off before transporting it in a car. IIRC it's because of the pressure differential when the doors/trunk close/open. I've seen two cypres's fire when trunk lids were slammed shut. Bottom line, turn off your AAD before you transport it if thats what the manual says. C. Brother Wayward's rule of the day... Shoot an email to Dave Benson skydivedisplays@bigpond.com. He wrote the book on flag jumps and equipment, and lives just over the ditch. Cheers, Craig. Brother Wayward's rule of the day... "Never ever ever go skydiving without going parachuting immediately afterwards." 100% PURE ADRENALENS

Vigil late fire or Reserve PC stuck? 22.07.07, Russia
skysurfcam replied to fariz2000's topic in Safety and Training
It's setup for both so people trained by either method can jump it. It's changable by the jump depending in who uses it. It's P.F.O. which way it's setup. Orange handle on the legstrap, ROL, Orange handle on the B.O.C., B.O.C. Like I said, a simple gearcheck will pick it up. (Like it wil check how a multimode AAD is set...) Recipe for disaster? Only if you're foolish/stoopid/both. C. Brother Wayward's rule of the day... "Never ever ever go skydiving without going parachuting immediately afterwards." 100% PURE ADRENALENS -

My DZ has a rental rig which can be setup for BOC or ROL. If I go low on it searching for the BOC when I haven't noticed I jumped it when its set up for ROL, should I blame the rig, the manufacturer, OR MYSELF AND MY SLOPPY PRE JUMP GEAR CHECK??? I'd feel stoopid. If I was as stoopid as I felt, I might even try to assuage the blame. Then again, I hope I'd be a big enough person/skydiver to say "Jeeze, my lack of a gearcheck nearly killed me" YMMV. 14 meter minimum focus... Hmmm... 1200mm x 1.6 makes it effectively a 1920mm lense... again, hmmm. Fortunatley it has a focus preset function, so I won't need to gaffer rubberband the focus down. At 16.5 kilos plus body weight, it's going to be hard to find where the balance point is along the barrel to correctly mount it on my FTP, especially at almost 3 feet long... It's also gonna be a hellov'a job getting my ringsite centered to let me get those opthomalic shots of the tandee's eye from 35 feet away! While exiting will be interesting, trying to turn to clear my airspace under canopy could be difficult... That being said, have your contacts little people call my little people, and we'll see what we can sort out... C. Brother Wayward's rule of the day... Anyone jumped out of a Spartan C-27J?
skysurfcam replied to skymick's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
To be exact, it was 43 of us, and we were the first civilians in the world to jump a c27j. C (That makes me the last civvie (indeed the last person) to jump outa one...) Actualy, this is only true for single element w/a lenses(Cookie, Waycool etc). I use a Giotto's 0.45 and focus on infinity quite happily. C. Brother Wayward's rule of the day... "Never ever ever go skydiving without going parachuting immediately afterwards." 100% PURE ADRENALENS

No worries Dave, that's why I said "Perhaps". Actually, the first thing I said to Cookie when I saw the Flatlock was "Are you gonna make a smaller one? 'Cos if you do, I'll buy one" I'm stil waiting, but I reckon I'll convince him eventually. I like Terry's product too - they each have their place in the market. Cheers, C. Perhaps you should have got this http://www.cookiecomposites.com/shop/Accessories/26/index.htm It adapts the flatlock to many a rounded helmet. I've run it over 3 different helmets as a test and it hasn't failed to fit. As for the "o" ring used for the lock, I can't see it failing for a long long time, but if it does, it's totally field replaceable. Soon as I need another clip on, it'll be a flatlock. C. Whisky row, Pheonix, 1988. I'd been in country for 40 hours. "Hure frum Hosstralia? Wuuw, hu spikk rrreally gud Hinglish..." C. Seriously though the 105 works very well with a .3 It's nativly wider than the 101, 108, 109 etc. Unless you've got really short arms, you'll be fine.
