Glad Janet Napolitano is looking out for the students.

You seem (to) have a problem with basic literacy. It's probably best you leave discussions about education alone. What's your excuse? Skitt made him do it... Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour -
Damn, that lady reminds me of the Goonies: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kx78clEWFwA&feature=player_detailpage#t=4 Poor girl... I was about her age when when that navy seals movie came out...we were all gung-ho about becoming navy seals. I found a seal training manual with my dad's Navy stuff, so we figured we'd get a head start. It said to run 5 miles in 25 minutes. I pushed myself so hard, but finished in 30 minutes - I was so over heated and shaking uncontrollably...I couldn't imagine doing that for 3 hours. It's hard to think that a grandmother would want to intentionally kill her grandchild, but if if the punishment didn't end in a half hour, hour, 2 hours, 2 and a half hours? 3 hours?!?! - you have to wonder if she ever intended for her to stop... The evil part of me says that a just punishment would be to run this old hag until SHE collapses, but there is no way I could just stand by and let a person suffer like that...so how could she just stand by and do this to her own flesh and blood? Is it just pure evil? A lack of empathy/sympathy? Or is it just stupidity/ignorance? Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour

What is the point of your post if not stupid hate and fear mongering? There are plenty of academic articles discussing Islams influence on culture, yet you post the most vile stupid thing available. The same thing could be said about your thread on how a christian conservative upbringing can cause the mentally unstable to become mass murderers... Businesses to the north and south have reasonable prices, (1 and 2 hour round trips) so I'm not so sure that's the problem here... ...but what do I know, my economics class was at eight o'clock in the morning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqb4GTbdQq4 I can go on with some stories and personal talks I've had with the business owners up here that might shed some light on the type of mentality we're dealing with...but maybe another time. You could have gotten up and walked away, I've done that in the past. That's not always a possibility. As I said earlier, it's not always about what people are willing to pay, but rather what they have to pay... I've been living in a small town in northern Michigan for the past few years. The median income is around $23k a year. $19k per capita...but prices are ridiculous up here. Hamburger is nearly double the national average and I remember seeing 4 ears of corn for $3. "Cheap" Kraft cheese has been seen as high as $8-$10 per pound... The businesses up here know people aren't going to make a 2 hour round trip to "save" money, so they can get away with it. Nearly 25% of the people up here are senior citizens - most of which I would assume are on social security, and another 8-10% of the population are below poverty - most of which are probably receiving housing and grocery subsidies... We are essentially subsidizing the cost of excessive greediness by business owners. Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour

I think Sugar Mama's Bakeshop got it right when they said the stickers may be an attempt at satire or a statement on gentrification in a historically black neighborhood. The article mentioned how this area has a growing artistic community. I've worked with these types of gritty urban artists - They are very passionate. I can totally see them creating something like this, especially given the design quality of the sticker. I wouldn't be surprised if even a couple of black artists where in on it. Now if that is true, I wouldn't necessarily disagree with the satire, but I would disagree with how the satire was used. Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour

I couldn't finish reading it...got a headache They say that the average attention span in this ADHD society is around like 7 seconds or something like that. I suppose this can be used as an illustration of what goes on in people's heads these days when they start reading something... ...sad Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour

Hang the fuck on. The rest of your post I more or less agree with, but this one I have to say "no, we don't NEED them, but I really, really really really really want them and life will be way better with them" Yup. Why have to pay attention and stay awake when you can enjoy your trip resting/sleeping or entertaining yourself? Yes, it can be fun to drive....and frequently NOT so! Even more than that, imagine the health benefits. No more road rage. Well, at least not until AI gains self awareness... Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour

I'm not dismissing any of your points, but it's not always about what people are willing to pay. Gas prices taught us that it's not always about what people are happily willing to pay, but but rather, what they have to pay. Sometimes people end up trapped in unfortunate situations such as owning a car with a combustible engine. Of course they're "willing" to empty their bank accounts and search the couch cushions for extra cash to make it to their next job. Of course a woman is "willing" to turn tricks after work to pay $1000 rent on a 500 sq-ft apartment in South Central LA complete with bars on the windows because the the only other option at the moment would be skid row. Now some of these people are lucky enough to obtain government assistance, but then why should we have to subsidize the cost of excessively greedy land owners? Glad this $65 Million will be Tax free income

The floodgates have already been opened. Nah, merely a leak... Organizations such as the American Israel Public Affairs Committee listed in your article are not churches or non-profit charities under 501(c)(3). They are social organizations under 501(c)(4) - and unlike churches, they are allowed limited permission to lobby. Any income they spend on political advocacy is taxable, so I'm not sure what "deadbeats" you're referring to... Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour -

Tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) severely limits the influence churches have when it comes political campaigns and their ability to lobby. I wonder if those calling for churches to be taxed like businesses are ready to open the floodgates of religious lobbyists... Will you be lobbying for gun purchases to be tax free? Given that we already have to pay taxes on bibles, I think it would be a pretty hard sell... Have these groups applied for tax exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) as a non-profit and charitable organization? If they were approved, would they be willing to limit their political voice and earning potential according to the restrictions of having achieved tax exempt status? Ya, I could've responded to anyone's post in the thread to make my point. I went with yours because it seemed objective and reasonable. Well, there are issues on both sides that would make me ashamed to be considered either a liberal or conservative... Truth be told, if I wasn't so vocal about the likes of one or two issues that I hold dear to my heart, I'd probably be considered a liberal as well. But as it is, I've found it much more beneficial in life to be a fool for Christ - and that pretty much labels me as a conservative. That really is the opposite perspective. I find it fascinating that a discussion that began with whether doctors should be allowed to speak about a particular topic has since been framed almost entirely around whether they or others should have to talk about a range of topics. To the point where, honestly, I have no idea what any of you guys are even trying to accomplish right now. This whole thing started by the American Medical Association creating policy that encouraged doctors to inquire about the presence of firearms in homes with children - we want to protect them...it's all about the children, right? I'm not surprised that many people found it a bit peculiar that this policy singled out guns given that children who are accidentally killed by guns represents less than 1% of all unintentional childhood deaths. Futhermore, many people just aren't comfortable with this type of information in their medical records, and then having that information shared with the government, let alone having their children being used as snitches... Many of these people have been accused of wearing tinfoil hats, but I'd argue that it's those who trust the government with their privacy whose minds may have already been seized. Now obviously, the greater of these two evils is the silencing of a doctors opinion...but shame on the AMA for making a spectacle and creating peculiar policy to empower doctors with a freedom they already had - as if doctors didn't already know what was best for their patients. It wreaks of liberal gun control tactics... Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour

I fail to see how telling parents the TRUTH about the risks of having guns in the home when you have small children represents an anti-gun agenda. Seems to me it just represents a pro-safety agenda. I bet many of the parents whose children shot themselves, their friends, their siblings or other family members felt the same way, right up until they had to deal with their conscience for the rest of their lives. Would you support gun safety education in schools as much as you support gun safety education in a doctor's office? Given how guns are such a big part of our culture, it only seems proper and fitting that we have firearm safety classes in our schools where kids can learn to exercise their constitutional right in a safe an effective manner. I recently watched a series from the BBC called "The White Queen" (it's available on Amazon). Amazing amount of sex, and boobies. Apparently the Brits have no problem with this. (Incidentally, the series was excellent). Of course. Europeans overall have far fewer issues with nudity than Americans. I gotta wonder if it goes back to those "Puritans" who decided to leave Europe. They were pretty uptight too. Maybe this is just a capitalistic country where sex is sold at a premium? After all, "Hollywood" is one of our biggest sources of income... Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour -
C'mon Jakee, the point is to witness the types of people cops deal with on a daily basis and why they may feel compelled to shoot someone who attacks them...no racism needed. You might have a point if you could send me on racist ride-a-longs where the majority of cops turn out to be the murderous assholes. ...anyway, in this day and age I don't see why cops can't deploy more effective non lethal force regardless of the perps intentions or mental state. I could be wrong, but I don't see much meaningful practical application from a belief in evolution unless you're a biologist. Biology isn't trying to take away my beloved charcoal grill...and that's all I'm pretty much worried about... I have kids who can tan even though I can't. Nice to know that evolution helped with that. Well, I've heard your wife is hot - perhaps she had something to do with it? Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour
