Does it really matter what others belive? Isnt it all about what the individual feels/belives/preaches? I myself really dont care much for organized religion. Especially if it costs money to be considered faithful... Well guess that makes me a follower of the freefalling religion. anyway... in the end... just be happy! ... when you hear the word 'safety'? Is it a feeling or what? When I think about it in genral its not even skydiving, but a feeling like being at home. Ya know Chris, I know you and I think your heart is in the right place but if someone had told me 2 years ago I would drop 10-20k to skydive i would have balked and maybe backed out. While they didnt try to hide the fact that it takes a chuck of money, they described it in terms that didnt hit so close to home. eg. youll start selling off your other toys, stop having other hobbies, and your friends will want to know why you never come around anymore. Yea we as skydivers should prepare students for the expense, but if someone really loves the sport, they will find a way. I did. Sold my jeep, my harley, and horse. Hell I bought that Nitro 120 with money left over from my house sale when I moved closer to the DZ! Hey... I will still jump at that DZ. But where im going now gives me that "warm fuzzy" Everybody is great, and I learn a lot there. One of the best pieces of advice I have gotten yet "jump w/ as many people as you can, you will learn more". I find I can learn more making a jump with someone new every jump than one person all day. B/c they have different ideas and way of doing things. You might get a few a-holes but thats the way of things. Bottom line if your home DZ is upset or disapproves you you trying to stay current and learn... maybe you should get a new home DZ. We can only better ourselves if we try! F!@k em! I did all my aff at my dz and was helping with cleaning and hell everything else I could think of. then they ran off the best instructor there, then a couple of the camera people and then the best tandem master. I spent a chunk with them. Now I go by there (last weekend for instance) and there not even open? 50F and light wind... No wonder I drive to memphis... But this is really a little off the subject. A buddy of mine put in perspective: I call him a P!@sy for not going to jump w/ me and he said when I get as many as him... then I can talk. hes got about 3500, and I have about 250. I cant wait to get in the air, while he likes to wait for better weather. Its all about what you feel you need... me? I feel the need to jump... and im gonna do it where I 1) have fun, 2) feel safe, and 3) can do it multiple times in one day!
