  1. Fixed it for ya, john. Anyway, in the past, I've had chances to meet Joe Kittinger, Chuck Yeager, Paul Tibbits and Thomas Ferebee, but I missed out becasue I was, how best to say it... STUPID!
  2. I guess I should have put up an, "Yes, but only when showering at the Drop Zone" option too!?
  3. That sucks doesn't begin to say it all. How badly was the Otter damaged? Have reports been made to the police?
  4. Did he report it to the local PD? I had a rig stolen years ago and never reported it to the local PD and figured I should have given the price of gear. Also, was it stolen from his car or hotel room? A friend of mine had his gear back stolen from his car while at a hotel one night. Not sure why, but he thought to check the dumpsters in the area and he found most of his gear... figured who ever stole it didn't know what they had and just dumped it. Anyway, good luck to your friend.
  5. What happened Saturday night? Costume party get out of control? Cops show up? Rumors abound!
  6. Tell him he has to massage your feet while you rest in a warm bubble bath while sipping wine, if he ever wants any again.
  7. " ....................................................................................... Hah! Hah! You remind me of one of my warbird pilot customers. He used to own two airplanes, but said that he needed four paris of glasses. One of his airplanes had a nosewheell and the other had a tailwheel, so his sight-picture changed as he flared for landing. He needed dark bifocals to fly the nosewheel airplane during daylight, but clear bifocals to fly it at night. He wore dark, single-vision lenses to fly his tail-dragger during the daytime, but wore clear single-vision lenses when he flew it at night. You're not talking about Pepper from Cal City, are you? I seem to remember his flying the Otter at Cal City with like 3 pair of glasses on that he'd switch around depending on what phase of flight he was in... seriously... and some folks think jumpers are stupid for wanting out of the airplane!
  8. Hey, there are not silly-assed questions! Keep asking things, check your sources, keep learning about your gear, it may save your life some day. To add to the above a bit... not disconnecting an RSL in a 2-out situation may cause problems in some gear configurations, so you're best to disconnect it, as has been said... where as in the old style Racer config (not sure what they're new RSL config is, I too need to go learn ), but not disconnecting the RSL in a 2-out situation prior to cutting away the main WILL cause problems... IMO. ** standing by to be flamed **
  9. I'm hearing that rumor out of control is Crouch and Jay are trying to organize a Cal City Skydive Reunion at Taft, maybe on 27 Oct and maybe if they can get an aircraft bigger than a Cessna 182 / 206. ... this Nov will be the 5th year since California City Skydive closed down. Anyway, any info on the possible reunion at Taft? Maybe Junior will have his PT-6 C206 done in time to bring it out for the reunion (if it happens) and fly a few loads!!??!
  10. Hurts... but less so than hitting the ground without an open parachute.
  11. No! I LIKE pussy pictures!! Especially furry ones that purrrrr when you pet them!
  12. Sorry to hear you had a quack-up. Get well soon!
  13. But seriously, is there a way to donate to Southeastern Guide Dogs without voting for a cat? Sorry, not a cat person here...
  14. Six posts and no one has commented that mama has entered a picture of her pussy in a contest? We're slipping, people!
  15. Prose, Have y'all talked to anyone at the USPA and/or your regional director to see if they have any advice / guidance? Just a thought. Anyway, I was in the K-town area here a couple of weeks ago and thought of y'all. Hope it works out that you can keep your DZ going one way or the other. I'm no expert, but one thing I'd think y'all would want to understand is if y'all convert over to the operation being a club, what can or you can't do as far as running a student operation? I may be wrong, but I thought I've heard of "clubs" getting cross-wise with their non-profit status (if that comes into play) with also running a "business", i.e. offering Tandem or AFF jumps to the general public, but I'm sure I don't know what I'm talking about, just something y'all may want to look into.
  16. This one... ?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdXjm8pZMws Ooops, its got words... never mind... Can't view it in my country. Probably too many drug references...
  17. Cal City! Oh... wait... wait... wait... its closed.

  19. Looks like he's getting closer to flying the pre-second load! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n754zjDpGvM&feature=g-high-u http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFYwNi9KPt8&feature=g-high-u
  20. Not that small... It will cost *at least* €1,500 to replace the shutter, believe it or not. You can't just do whatever you want when you live in the historical part of the medieval village - there are strict rules and regulations regarding materials / style, et cetera. Its France, can't you just tell them it was damaged in a retreat or surrender or something and get the US to pay for the rebuilding?
  21. I missed it, but I heard told around the water cooler at work today that after 25 years (or so), Mark & Brian have decided to "hang it up". Tomorrow will be their last radio show, reportedly? During today's show, so I was told, Brian was talking again about Cal City Skydive and the Flying Peckerheads. Maybe in retirement Brian will get the itch to jump again and re-open Cal City? You know what they say about making a small fortune at a Drop Zone!
