Just doing some research before making a mistake. With the RDS systems which is preferred and or will it make much of a difference. My current RDS is slightly smaller about 3" than the original of my Velo 96, My thought would be with the increase of drag coming from the bag on an RDS of the same size, that it's tendency would be slower to creep down the lines, and that's not what I'm looking for. We have also been tasked with a similiar incident, and looked long and hard for gear to provide them the safety factor everyone else has. But always ended up with the same issue when it came to a reserve, There you would have to have the harness it's self changed to fit the person, In the end the cost of doing all these mods was much greater than what was expected. I would talk to your student and see how far they are willing to go so your efforts are for nothing, but I do applaud the fact your trying to assist. I also transitioned from the crossfire to katana and to Velo. The Katana is not bad if your looking for serious speed with the toogles and light front riser pressure but definetly tends to drop out before the speed is bled off. But don't holds it's tendencies against the velo, It will give all the distance your looking for if flown correctly. I Am Sofa King We Todd Did!!

Because alot of the time I use it for AFF the setting are 6,000 lock on, 5,000 should be deploying,and 4,000 here I come. I never change the the setting either so as not to confuse myself. I Am Sofa King We Todd Did!!

I'm sure there is a formula out there for optimal wing loaded. But the all tend to differ even with the same loading due to style of flight. Thats what I'm testing now is to see which path,setup,riser input and harness input gives me what I'm looking for. Thats whats great is it is a ever evolving sport I Am Sofa King We Todd Did!!

I have a Velo96 loaded @ 2.3 and a Velo 90 Loaded @ 2.45. The 96 flies great with rear input and gets much more distance. The 90 tends to come in faster but riser input is more tricky, needing to use a longer recovery arc. You will just have to test out different canopy's for which one suits you. Paul said the 90 would sink out faster but I just had to have it. leason learned. I Am Sofa King We Todd Did!!

Safe, what is safe these days, everyone compares skydiving to this life or death situation, it is as others have already stated, as safe as the individual makes it. Such as driving in your car one of the biggest risk you take everyday, your driving on a 2 lane highway at 55mph along with similiar traffic meaning 110mph meeting potential with only 3 feet seperating you(about the width of a casket) 1 stupid move and its over. And I know you're thinking is that safety is built into the cars today, well it's built into skydiving as well such as : Training,AAD's, Wind allowances,cloud clearances and rules of the DZ patterns. If followed you may never have that fender bender but whose to say the next guys will? Just watch out and be as safe as you can, but don't give up living just because it's taboo! I had started a reply about all of the USPA activities and how they provide for the jumpers, then I thought why waist my time. PA deleted. Your one warning. I Am Sofa King We Todd Did!!

I had the opportunity to sit in on a Rhodes AFF course where I was doing the video for the guys taking the course and was glad that I decided to take a few more jumps to hone my skills before taking the AFF course. What I observed from it was Rhodes is the most disrespectful person I have ever met in the terms of paying someone to teach me something. I agree that you should know your discipline well before attempting to teach it but your going to be nervous anyway, being evaluated. And to hear him tell the guys when they got down from their jumps(What the F*^& were thinking, I have never seen anyone so stupid).I had told the guys if that were me I would have got my moneys worth of an ass whoopin and not be talked to in that manner. But I did take the course with Bram Clements and it was the better than I ever expected it to be, of course seeing the worst before hand. Bram will still shot you straight but with alot of respect when doing so and also teaches you to do the same to your students. I Am Sofa King We Todd Did!!

This statement isn't entirely true...of course as a Catholic you are supposed to be married in the church but if for some reason you don't your marriage can still be blessed at a later date by a priest and then it is accepted. It's a very short, simple ceremony that can be performed privately in the priest's office if necessary. Also, a Catholic can marry a non-Catholic. I'm Catholic, my husband is Baptist. He chose not to convert and the only person who even mentioned it to him was me. I mentioned it only so that we could worship together as a family. The only thing my priest asked was if he had any problem with our children being raised as Catholics. My husband attends Mass with me on special occassions like Midnight Mass etc. and he participated in our daughter's Christening ceremony. Oddly enough, my childrens God-Parents (who also participated in the Christening ceremony) are all protestants-my children and I are the only Catholics in my family. That's an unfair statement, it's a shame that you automatically assume her parents have a problem with you because of differing religious beliefs. It's been my experience that most people who have a problem with Catholics or the Catholic faith in general simply don't understand it and are most often confused by the traditions. Well my elliptical experience was that of a batwing(my only chop from line twist)I then went to the safire for video purposes for the openings, but the Katana has sweet openings and will track straight even in line twist. Its actually a very versitile canopy with a lot of speed thrown in. Wanna go to a crossbraced just trying to decide and get a few jumps on some different canopies to see what best suits my needs. Honestly the aggressive response was something I was not expecting , I had heard they were touchy but WOW! Loading a 107 @ 1.96 is a blast,but coming from a safire to a katana was an eye opener. A friend said you would always respect a race car for its power and the same applies. The openings are nice on the initial stage but tends to have a snap at the end. I Am Sofa King We Todd Did!!
