I don't really agree with ya here, and I know you have been around long enough to know good and well what deployment at a 1000 ft or lower looks like. Oh please! We were going to Vail a couple of years ago, and my husband told me "Go ahead and work. I just need to follow the signs to Leadville. Long ago, as a new jumper, I was regaling my five year old daughter...whos now 31.....with tales of how I could fly in freefall. If I were to 'explain' the meaning of that graph today, with the data I have on hand, I'd say that people enter the sport assuming that it is almost infallible, but then realize by the time they get their B license or equivalent that the sport can kill you and beg off it, whereas in the early years you knew that from the begining. ----------------------------------------------------------- I think this last paragraph sums it up, Jan. The later model "mainstream" student is sold a bill of goods as to how safe jumping is and when they finally do learn the actual facts...thru observation of an accident or a non life threatening event happening to themselves, the reality sets in. sorry about the hijack bozo Pain is fleeting.
