  1. The perp is getting prosecuted, right? Not much worthy of discussion there. I don't think the national endowment for the arts would be showing off a pic of Obama in a jar of urine, or Michael Moore with elephant poop on it. I wouldn't want taxpayer money funding that either. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  2. No, they display offensive art when they are in favor of offending those intended to be offended. There is a big difference. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  3. I'm not surprised that the CNN article didn't mention exactly why the so called art was controversial. I have no problem with people making/displaying/selling art like this, or dung art, piss art that insults any religion. I only have a problem with it when tax dollars fund the work. When such groups as the national endowment for the arts comes under fire for sponsoring such stuff, lefties go "apeshit" and call it censorship, which is of course, pure bullshit. 4. quite right! That's a really low standard for ape-shittedness. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  5. That list sounds like it would be the guest list for the Coast to Coast AM radio show, George Noory/Art Bell. It is kinda entertaining to listen to that crap for a while when you have to drive late at night. The hosts of the show remind me of Larry King in that they are not skeptical of anything their guests say, nothing is too far out there for their show. 6. Perhaps after being bent once, that part of the toggle that isn't supposed to ever bend is more likely to bend again - perhaps it should be replaced? After your slammer opening, were any of the locking stows on your bag broken? 8. My container was made for my Pilot 210ZPX (it fits great), and it is an I-66, so your size 4 would be 2 sizes smaller for one size smaller canopy, so it would be definitely be tighter than normal. 9. 1400 ft makes sense because it takes so long to reach the vertical speed needed for activation, then you must still have altitude remaining for the reserve to be able to open. Much lower than that, and there is no purpose if you are starting from 0 vertical speed. As there is a well established design that is able to distinguish obviously impossible scenarios and not activate, it seems reasonable to expect that from the other manufacturers. It really is pathetic (speaking as a former electronics packaging/mechanical design engineer) that the competition couldn't do better with such a benchmark upon which to improve. 10. Because it is a lousy design. If you know that the reserve PC would stay inside the plane, then it wouldn't be so much of a concern, but of course the scenario is that the door suddenly opens, so it isn't likely to stay innocently inside. Sounds like a good reason for a very stringent, periodic inspection and testing program. 11. Ive had my Vigil II all summer. Not once has it fired when we opened the door at 1k. Was it a C182 door? Opening a lexan door in an otter/caravan or similar is of course a different scenario with much less of a sudden pressure change. 12. Cutting away first will of course prevent both canopies from inflating. Cutting away first will not prevent the main PC, canopy/d-bag, risers, and RSL shackle from passing by the reserve as it deploys. It is not at all certain this is better than the alternative. 13. That was not an option in 1987. Even now, that just doesn't cut it, many injuries don't allow a person to use their cellphone. 14. It is a whole helluvalot more useful if you are the one that is injured and hoping someone will come to help. I've been in exactly that situation. It is very easy to think that it isn't worth the bother. Very easy to think that until you're the one that is left out at some alternate (student) landing field with nobody remembering to come get you, and one more thing...you've got a dislocated elbow (which feels like a broken arm). I've been there, nobody remembered to come get me at the distant student (non D-license) field (Snohomish, 1987). That really sucked. I was the only one landing at the student field, they knew it, but forgot about me. Any sort of check in system would have reminded them of my absence. They relied on a verbal notice and that was not at all adequate. Any sort of watch out for each other/check in with a buddy if you're a solo is going to fail, and murphy's law will make sure it fails when someone is injured. 15. Perhaps you're thinking that entanglement in a limited manner. It is not just the main lines that are a concern. The entanglement can take the form of the any part of the main, from the PC, bridle, d-bag, whatever length of lines gets unstowed, risers, and the RSL shackle managing to get caught in the lines of the reserve. This can prevent the reserve slider from coming down or the reserve slider can be pulled back up after a full reserve deployment by a departing main. Of course it might have all cleared the deploying reserve, that is why there is disagreement on the proper procedure, however some do not want to acknowledge the possibility that the cutaway main can do harm. 16. A lot more is important than metal to metal contact. The middle ring will not have the correct lever effect if it is not in the correct position. 17. Well, in this particular mal, it wouldn't have made any difference to the PC's entangling, or the main and reserve containers opening at roughly the sme time. and then he might have ended up with choked off reserve canopy entangled in the cutaway main risers. TBH though, who knows? Once you're at that point you're rolling the dice either way. Quite right! Many are so certain that cutting away from a PC in tow is obviously the right thing to do. It most certainly is not so clear, and this incident is an example. This subject has generated many previous threads. 18. Totally lame. They might as well just admit their product is stupid. For those willing to put up with a stupid AAD, the price of used Vigils at least should go down, if not even the new units. Demand goes down... People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 20. As I said, I saw your intent right from the start, Just another ignorant fool, with no life.... I don't think I got into your pro-cruiser bike threads to call you an ignorant fool. I didn't even get in your thread to insult your choice of bike. I made my own thread, and didn't insult you directly. I insulted you indirectly, for instance when I commented on how funny the South Park chopper episode was. I am not ignorant, I am not a fool, and I have a wonderful life. 21. Style (bad), and noise. Sometimes I wish I had a massive air horn that I could deploy to physically blow some bikers over. Not only are the bikes stupidly loud, but they blip the throttle needlessly just to enhance it. I seem to have strayed a bit from my original post... Actually, you went RIGHT where I firgured you were heading....No surprise at all.. As for Safe????Properly built choppers are just as safe as any motorcycle, probably safer than so fool laying down on his tank! Please, you like the style of choppers, but to claim that they are as safe...that may be like saying that driving a huge old station wagon is safer because you aren't tempted to drive aggressively, so maybe chopper riders are safer because they can't corner fast, so they just don't try, and that contributes to safety. I agree that the cafe racer/laying down on the tank style does compromise safety, but it is obviously appropriate for racing, and of course it fits an image that some riders want. I would not want that. I would want an upright style, just like what used to be so common for performance bikes way back when the superbikes were originated back in the 70's, like the Honda 750, Kawasaki Z1 and many others had. Of course being over 6 feet tall makes it easy for a bike to be designed to sit up high and be comfortable with good cornering clearance. The racer style allows shorter people to fit, as does the cruiser style. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 22. Right...how in the world do people riding dirt bikes stand up on the pegs? If only they realized it was so much easier with floorboards. Ape hangers result in less control. You may still find it easy to control, but it is less control than a normal set of bars. If only the bikes actually made for long distance (touring bikes) had figured out that ape hanger bars were more comfortable, they would have an advantage on their competition. I still have connections with my friends at Honda R&D, I'll have to let them know how the next generation of bars for the Gold Wing should be. A car's steering wheel isn't even in the same neighborhood ergonomically as ape hanger bars. Not even close. Even to the extent that people will hold a car's steering wheel at the 10 & 2 o'clock position (which still isn't nearly as high as ape hanger bars), people only usually do that for a short time, and then will rest their forearm/elbows on the armrests and hold the wheel down at the 4 and 8 o'clock position. 23. Resurrecting my old thread... I just had a couple stock cruiser bikes in front of me on a cloverleaf 270 deg turn onramp. It was so pathetic how they were very close to grounding out. I am not real aggressive in turns as I like my tires to last, and I drive a 14 year old Honda minivan, but the cruiser bikes were still going much slower than I usually go around that curve. A motorcycle that can't be fun in the twisties! It might as well be a trike! 24. At the All Ohio Balloon Festival in 2002 (held just a half mile from my home), absolutely none of them had any interest at all. Insurance concerns, it will damage my balloon, blah, blah.
