  1. That's your solution? Will someone else you know be willing to post on this thread to let us know what happened when you can't? People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  2. That is "registering" way up the crappy analogy meter! All of that practice is showing results. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  3. If someone in this thread got something wrong, then why not correct it? I don't see the purpose of being so vague. 4. That is a complete mischaracterization, or in other words, simply not true. I also think the Vigil "recalculation" frequency is a bit of marketing hype, and it is wrong to conclude that a Cypres "calculates" slowly in comparison. Belly flying will result in a bit of a low pressure area where the sensor is on your back. That will be true for a Vigil also. To compensate for that, the actual firing altitude is adjusted. which makes it fire a bit higher if you're not belly flying at that time, and can also happen during canopy inflation (standing position). Without the ability to determine a jumper's orientation, it makes sense to make the adjustment. You either allow the firing to happen lower for one scenario (already very low - I wouldn't want it lower), or allow it to happen higher for the rest. I think the Germans took a reasonable approach. 5. It is sorta funny that the Tony website says that the Apache is to be a base wingsuit only, they don't recommend modifications to allow access to a normal rig's handles, but their website shows pics of it with a Mirage skydiving rig. http://www.tonywingsuits.com/apache.html People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 6. I think he is at fault. He was violent and attempting to kill despite not having a weapon. He did not mind his own business. I do not think he is the victim. 7. In plane system. Is there something a person can do to most effectively use whatever is provided? People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  8. The video may be misleading. At least some of that may be from the fact that reserve risers are short, so the reserve toggles start out low. 9. I would say "no". But the loose fit to your back means the container is going to wiggle around a bit behind you, which can make precision flying a little more difficult, because of the constantly shifting weight. I always find it a little distracting to fly up behind someone in a formation and to watch a rig dancing around on someone's back. And it could shift enough to make it pretty hard to find your hackey. And makes it easier to fall out The hackey or the skydiver? Quite right, could be taken either way! I meant it could be easier for the jumper to fall out of the harness. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 11. Another thing to consider is whether the services are having an easy time meeting their recruiting goals. I think they are, and if so, how much of that is due to recruitment due to the GKs? I don't think much of it is due to them, or due to sponsorship of race teams. Maybe such "marketing" dollars are better spent on sponsoring video games. I remember that the military is not allowed to provide airlift during record attempts because it would be competing against private companies that can be hired to fill that need. Imagine being a private business and having your competition be the military that is willing to undercut you completely, it isn't right and isn't allowed. Why should the GK demo team be considered differently? People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 13. " ....................................................................... Ignore sanitation and legality, because few of those simple tubes provide enough oxygen to keep you alert above 15,000 feet. What should a person look for in a good system? I've only used oxygen when I jumped at 24k, and that was with a real mask that sensed vacuum (inhalation) to deliver oxygen. If I get on a lower altitude dive that is going to use the low tech systems, what should I want to see? 14. The "God's plan" comment is nothing new. People use it when convenient, deny its applicability when it is not. No more stupid than to constantly repeat the irrelevant "TM was an unarmed teenager." Weapons aren't needed by grown men to be extremely violent. Come on, this is GZ's first time telling his side at length in person. I think he appeared to be telling the truth, and other evidence (eyewitness and audio) supports it. Those that think he's lying, what evidence do you think supports that? http://foxnewsinsider.com/2012/07/18/videos-george-zimmerman-tells-his-story-in-exclusive-hour-long-interview-with-sean-hannity/ People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 16. Those masks are connected to a short term supply of oxygen from a chemical reaction type oxygen generator unit, not hooked up to bottled oxygen. There are only a small number of exceptions, when the airline wants to pay a lot more for bottled passenger oxygen, but it is very rare. 21. Quite right. However, when liberals look at the numbers of women in engineering, they conclude that there is a problem that should be fixed. That "fix" usually means a set-aside or preference in terms of scholarships or something that involves fixing a problem that doesn't exist (assuming that there isn't discrimination against women wanting to get into engineering programs). I contend that Obama is pandering, and his good intentions are likely doing harm (classic outcome of liberal policies). You say disparities that exist are due to people's own choices, but then say barriers are coming down. That seems to be a contradiction, please explain. I haven't picked that up. I just get the impression that he thinks the women in the field to be less attractive than normal, or at least than he would like. Perhaps I've missed that in his posts, feel free to point it out. Maybe his desire for more female coworkers to be attractive has come across as hostility to them personally, but I don't see it that way. I've also picked up that he is hostile to male engineers that have body odor - but I can understand that hostility. 22. I don't think the OP said something was "unfair" about that. The article the OP links, and which he obviously agrees with (as per his rant about "gender traitor"), associates Title IX with the fact that women graduates now outnumber men in many STEM disciplines. Since the OP directly associates the increased proportion of women graduates to the destruction of quality science and engineering programs, it is obvious that he disagrees with granting women access to these degrees, and so he must disagree with Title IX. It is not at all obvious. You've done a lot of extrapolation from a basic premise that is not what you are portraying. Title IX requires no discrimination, but to push for more women in an area already over-represented and with no basis for a claim of discrimination is not what Title IX requires. I don't think the OP said that. The OP links, and quotes from, an article that claims that Obama is going to impose quotas to mandate more places for women in STEM disciplines. He then says (direct quote): "The success of the United States was built on high quality engineering and science and clearly Obama is hellbent on destroying that." I see no way to interpret that other than as a statement that including more women in science and engineering will destroy the quality of those fields in the US. Don I think you see no other way to interpret it because you are angry at the OP - for doing something that he didn't really do. Another way to interpret it is that if the best qualified are kept out in favor of others, then the overall result/benefit to society from advancements will suffer. Using the term "destroy the quality" and "gender traitor" is a bit of hyperbole. 23. I believe the Vigil doesn't need to think it is airborne to fire, as confirmed by their warning that it might fire from closing an auto's trunk. Since we know that the design has features to prevent that sort of activation, I wouldn't say it is "unknown what it would do." 25. We don't really "hit" terminal. We approach (accelerate) to that speed quickly at first, but of course the approach as we get closer to that speed is very slow. It is more useful to say that we reach 95 or whatever % of terminal after whatever number of seconds. That is why one of the reasons why 'time to terminal' estimates can vary so much.
