I really wonder if they still use cadmium plating, or if they have gotten so used to saying it that it is just automatic. My understanding was that environmental regs (rightfully) now result in a huge cost and general pain in the ass penalty, so that alternative treatments are used. Maybe someone more 'in the know' can confirm it. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. The rings that were bad were the harness rings, not the rings on the risers. They were marked RW-1, I believe, and now the tooling is different so the rings have a noticeably different shape. I think it was a heat treating issue. You could do a load test, or cut them off and install the clunky looking harness ring with a long seperable link, not so elegant. Liberals should note which side of the political fence the lib judges are standing, on the side of the corporation! And libs like to say that conservatives are all about corporate greed, not so! A search for 'Hard Cutaway' will provide some info too. Derek searching DZ.com does not prove anything to me - I'd like to see real test data. John Sherman says they are not needed (on my racer) so I will go with what he says. This has been discussed before - I don't mean to highjack the discussion. rm I can believe that a Racer's cables will pull out easier because they are teflon coated, everything else being equal, but unfortunately everything else is not equal. The teflon cables are not as stiff, so they get bent by the loop easier, increasing pull forces. The thought of the cable being bent like this is not comforting. I don't think you have an arch problem. I think gravity just has too little influence on you. You should borrow a tight, nylon jumpsuit, and a weight belt. Hip rings are not relevant to this issue. You cannot fly well at the extreme of your fallrate range. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. Don't pay much attention to the max speed on a Protrack, it can be very wrong. The first and second half, and overall average is what you should use as a basis for your fall rate. Where were you wearing the Protrack? Don't instructors advise students to try tracking out of a spin? Maybe that is old fashioned now, of course it can take time that may not be available, but I thought it was a standard remedy. In my opinion, you should tell the mfg what main you will put in it, and not cloud the issue with any info about future downsizing. Make it fit now. You will not regret it. If they start tracking really early because they can't get back up, they might track too far and be under another group. Or they might stop tracking after a while, figuring it was enough, only to find out it was not. Much better for a low jumper to turn sideways to the formation (easier to look up) while maintaining visual contact and trying to recover altitude, then track away at the planned altitude like everyone else. If you want to downsize and the container really is too big, and you don't mind the extra size on your back, you can have a pad installed, best to do it by the mfg so they do it without snag points and such. They can do it in the main pack tray or on the D-bag. As you said, your rig will be worth a lot and in high demand, so just go for what is easy to pack now. You will not regret it. If you continue to jump the 190, and learn your survival skills on a forgiving canopy without thinking about your next, and next downsizing, and you have a lot of fun on it for years to come, then you will probably be able to have lots of fun for years to come after that because you'll be still be walking without a limp. Plus, honestly, the rigs that fit larger canopies are in demand, with high resale value to newbies. The smaller rigs are not appropriate for newbies, and the experienced jumpers are much more likely to want a custom rig. over 2.0 is... relatively high I would think that maybe the handle was never pulled, maybe you just pulled the end out at the riser, as you said, when you took the rig off. I respectfully disagree. The original Mirage is the ugliest container of all history. You are so wrong! -

At least the guy can tell his buddies about his rig and show it to them, that should be worth more than what he can sell it. This is a real beauty...Cazer Eagle container (my nominee for ugliest container of all history), and the guy doesn't even know what canopy is the main vs reserve. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=106980&item=7162900805&rd=1 People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. Just remember that you can often get 15-25% off equipment from dealers, and most coupons are figured from MSRP. So the value of a coupon is very depedant on how good a deal you can get without it. From L&B's FAQ page: Basically TAS means your speed relative to the ground and SAS means your speed relative to the air molecules in a fixed altitude of 4,000 ft. and at a fixed temperature. TAS will change if you jump (with the same body position) at two Drop Zones which have different elevations. SAS remains the same. ...so, it 'normalizes' you speed to a standard set of conditions, so that you can compare easily. edit - page 39 of this link tells more about it: http://www.l-and-b.dk/pdf/english_protrack.pdf People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. your average fallrate on your belly
sundevil777 replied to heidihagen's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If you are tracking, then your vertical descent is less than your average speed, otherwise you are doing something other than tracking. The avg speed that an audible alt gives you is only the vertical component, it has no way to know what your overall speed is including the horizontal, People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. your average fallrate on your belly
sundevil777 replied to heidihagen's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
We should say whether this is to be SAS or TAS. I think most people use SAS. Does a Neptune have a similar compensation available? 112-118 SAS is typical 1st/2nd half avg speeds on my Protrack If you already have a tight suit, and you still struggle to stay down with the regular RW loads, then you should talk to someone you trust about using a little weight. You will fly much better in the middle of your fallrate range than at either extreme. collapsable pilot chute uncocking itself?

I think a better way to check if the kill line has shunk is to confirm that the pieces of webbing in the PC is what actually limits the PC, and not the kill line - it should have slack when you stretch out the PC.
