No, just that the outrageous claims stop, publishing a revision to the diagrams would help. As I said, steep tracking dives look like a lot of fun, it is cool that people are pursuing it. I don't recall what was being said (you're implying it was negative) about head down flyers. I recall being envious because I was so lousy at it, they made it look so easy. Of course I didn't practice it much at all, and I made traditional RW look easy, and they were often lousy at that. I do know that head down flyers weren't making absurd claims about their flight path. When you post fancy diagrams that directly claim that your trajectory matches your body orientation through a huge range of angles, don't get in a snit when you find yourself the object of ridicule, because you deserve it. I really don't mean to be confrontational, steep tracking dives look like a lot of fun. I would participate with a good group, it would certainly be a hoot! To acknowledge one's baldness is a necessary condition to win the election, but not a sufficient condition. Big difference. The entire basis of the assertion that 'nautmonauts are doing something so special is the claim that they get so much more lift than others have done in tracking dives. This claim is without a basis in truth. To merely acknowledge that there is "some" positive angle of attack does not admit to the large magnitude of the deception. And that's the truthmonauti People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. The REAL reason that McCain will not win the election

His comb-over hair cut. Yep, there will be some outdoor event where the high winds will have that thing flapping around uncontrolled. The video-bite will be repeated everywhere...it is a deal breaker, he'll look like an absolute fool. It shouldn't matter, but I think it will make enough of a lasting impression to make a big difference...that McCain is the guy that can't acknowledge his own baldness. He should drop the pretense and just get rid of the silly thing. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. The claim from the diagrams if very clear - that you can fly at a trajectory (actual path) of 10 deg from the horizontal, and that their path through the sky matches their body orientation. This is of course pure bullshit. I believe that atmonauti proponents don't understand how insulting this claim is to those that understand physics and aerodynamics. The human body is not nearly efficient enough to obtain a 10 deg flight path. If a 'nautinaut could fly at a true trajectory of 10 deg from horizontal, and their verical speed was 70 mph (I think this is within the range of 'nautinauts claims) then their horizontal speed would be 70/tan10=397mph. Even if you apply this to a 20 deg path, the horizontal speed would be 192 mph. This is of course pure bullshit. A short piece of ribbon trailing from the foot of a 'nautinaut proves nothing because the local burble doesn't represent the true flight path. A trail of smoke across the sky at 10 degrees from horizontal would be different. I propose that the term 'nautinaut be applied to those that continue to make such absurd claims. 'nautinauts would do better to simply claim that they are having fun and that others should try it. Had my first reserve ride yesterday.

Good job saving yourself. You might try doing a jump where you repeatedly do simulated pulls and stay in the reach back position for a long time, even simulating having to grope around for the handle. You really should be confident in your ability to do this without stability problems. Of course you should not be groping around for a long time on a regular jump. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=452588#452588 The thread referenced above tells you all you need to know (especially my posts ) This is a sore point for me. FXC should have been able to do so much better. At the time I was buying ('02), I really wanted to convince myself that it was a viable alternative - but it was not to be. Flatpacking has different variations that go by different names. The best variation was actually called the "factory pack", long before the pro pack method arrived. The factory pack, done properly, is essentially much like how some riggers do reserves, which is in effect much like a pro pack, but accomplished in a different way, and can be done just as quickly. I couldn't find anything in that article or the maintenance article concerning getting charged for 2 servicing fees. It only confirms that if you get the 1st check done late, it doesn't change the schedule for the 2nd check. The articles don't specifically address the issue of returning a unit at the 2nd check timing that had never had the 1st check. I think that if you had just waited until the 8 year check was due, that you only have to have just that one check done, but of course it would not be possible to have used it between years 4 and 8. I think that is true, perhaps others can confirm. What is definitely true is that if you had posted a question on this forum about what is a reasonable price for the AAD you bought, you would have been provided all the right answers to allow you to get it at the right price. It is very tempting to see the lack of a costly maintenance check as an advantage for other AADs, but consider that the self test function simply cannot confirm the accuracy of the unit (it can't provide a change in pressure to the sensor to simulate a jump), and can't confirm that it will withstand environmental (temp/vibration) extremes. All the self test can do is confirm that the electronics still work and that there is continuity to the cutter. The self test is just not good enough for a device where accurate function is so critical. You do not want it to be off in either direction - up or down. Wedding vows might as well say, "...'tilll I get fed up with you", instead of, "...'till death do us part". I actually know one couple that were married with such vows. A married woman with children has so many things encouraging the decision to get a divorce. There are tremendous advantages, and no downside to that decision for a woman, apart from leaving her husband. SSK says that doesn't make that much of a difference, unless you drive home with it on: http://www.cypres-usa.com/cyp16.htm Gary Peek had a lot of curiosity, free time, and the desire to dispell the myth that turning it off uses more power than letting it turn itself off after 14 hours and did an experiment that seems valid: http://www.pcprg.com/cyprespc.htm So, consider that the unit uses about/at most around 100 times less power at 'rest' compared to when the LED is on/calibrating. Turning off the unit takes, say 10 seconds or so. So if the unit were on for 100*10=1000 seconds or about 16 minutes, then you are better to turn it off. Even with the assumptions that I haven't listed, or even if it is 1000 times less power, then it would be about 2.5 hours for the break even point. So I think it is fairly safe to make the obvious conclusion - if you want the battery to last slightly longer, turn it off manually even if you don't drive up/down hills on the way home. As SSK says though, it really shouln't matter much. What should matter is how long it is in the active mode/during a jump/climb to altitude. So, the total time from takeoff to landing should matter more significantly. Yes, it does indeed take a long time to do temperature exposure tests that call for multiple cycles of exposure to high/low extremes for hours at a time. I don't know the exact profile of their temp testing, but the typical tests for aerospace hardware take a long time. The complaint about bad customer service ought to be directed at your rigger. That conclusion appears to say that you would have been happier to not know that your Cypres was not meeting the original specifications (assuming the extra time was needed to make repairs instead of just slow shipping). Consider that your Cypres was working just fine, no problems during the start-up self-test, and then when SSK did the full series of tests including accuracy/resolution, high/low temp, vibration, etc it failed to meet the original standards. Does this mean it would have necessarily failed to save your life if needed? No, but it does mean that the mfg is not comfortable with the self test being the only check on the proper function of the unit, and for very good reason - some fail! The self test can't check things to the same extent as can be done at the factory. Given the fact that some units with no self-test errors have to be sent back for a major overhaul after failing the std maintenance test series makes me not want to trust the Vigil or Argus self test as the only check during its lifetime. Perhaps their self test is much more complete than the Cypres', but I don't think so. The self test cannot simulate a jump (simulate the pressures on the transducer) to test the entire system, it just is a partial check of the health of the electronics. Is that reserve handle the type that is about 1/2 the normal width, or is it a standard D-handle? I definitely prefer the reduced width style, it fits into the harness the same as std, and was not any harder to find when I needed it. I know I speak for many guys when I say that is absolutely not true. This is of course not an objective truth, it depends on personal preference, but I absolutely know I speak for many on this subject, and it is true for us, and we wish that women would stop thinking that just because they have huge boobs that they are attractive. That's about all I have to say about that. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. The 1 GB flash drives with the "windows enhancer" (I think that is what it was called) were only $15. Since I was looking for another flash drive anyway, I thought it was worth checking out. I've seen some flash drives that make some vague claim implying that it will improve the performance of a computer. I remember hearing something about it performing something like internal RAM. If true, do you have to be running Vista to get the good effect? Does getting the good effect depend on some software or something that comes with the flash drive? I have a several year old 1.5 GHz pentium 4 with only 384 MB of RAM, running Windows XP, so if this is a decent poor man's way to increase performance, I'm definitely interested. I realize it cannot be as effective as regular internal memory, but at $15 for 1 GB, at least it is cheap. Thanks for your help. I've done one balloon jump, falling off back to earth looking back up at the balloon. I got the most intense stomach rush feeling like you expect from a roller coaster (a feeling I don't notice when jumping from a plane). I also had a lot of nervous anxiety/butterflies during the climb which added to the excitement. The Element has super stain resistant (even ketchup wipes right off) seat fabric and a vinyl type floor instead of carpet, making it really well suited for those that participate in messy outdoor activities. You can also put bikes completely inside, and even sleep inside on fold flat seats. http://automobiles.honda.com/element/interior-photos.aspx?num=El7-87 Many can't stand the styling, but the Element is very unique and versatile. Many, if not most engines have rubber timing belts. They are definitely quieter, probably cheaper. They aren't just rubber, they have internal 'cords' that are intended to make them resistant to stretching over time which would alter the timing of the camshaft relative to the crank. A metal chains will definitely wear, effectively stretching. By the time you are supposed to replace the belt, you are pretty close to probably needing to replace the water pump anyway.
