Jeez, so I didn't explain fully that knowing of crimes AND doing nothing about them is a crime. Seems that either you're complaining about that or you've put forward a new crappy analogy to top all other crappy analogies. The darling dems in congress including Pelosi knew of it before and during, but there was no complaint. Great News Article: I'm getting into armed robbery!

How is receiving a classified briefing a culpable offense? What would they be charged with? I really do think having knowledge of a crime that was committed, and having knowledge that crimes will be committed (and doing nothing), is indeed a crime. I don't know the exact terminology for that crime, but I do believe it is a crime, if the interrogations were in fact criminal. Anyway, the executive branch was fully informing the legislative branch, and 3 darlings dems of congress were OK with it. Another type of split bag had both sides fastened with velcro. The bag when split was just a flat piece that could be wrapped around the canopy (with excess hanging out the sides), and all the locking loops could be done before having to stuff the canopy in the sides and close the splits. This type of split bag I think is much more useful than the top-bottom split at allowing an overstuffed d-bag. After I got good at packing, and because the bag was the right size, I finally glued the split closed permanently. Do you think that congressional intelligence committee members that were briefed in detail about 30 times on the interrogations should be prosecuted? This would include the liberal darlings Rep Nancy Pelosi, Sen. John D. Rockefeller IV, and Rep. Jane Harman. How about the members of Congress (D's and R's) that were informed of the details? That would include some liberal darlings. As I'm sure you know, the original 5-cell Swift (only 1 size was available) reserve is no longer a good choice at all, but the Swift Plus (7 cell) was much better. I've had 2 rides under a Swift Plus (a 200, and a 225 ft2). Both were VERY easy to land, and as I remember, have lots of reinforcing built in. The mfg, Paraflite, has been making only military equipment for some time, but my 225 was made in about 2000, so there should still be some of those on the market that aren't ancient. Quick tangent, please: standard US miltary basic training includes the "confinement with insects" method? Or is this just an offshoot of all recruits being, you know, maggots? I said "some of those things". But really, it was a CATERPILLAR! Surely basic training does involve having to put up with inscects in a general sense, but basic training includes sleep deprivation, right? Specialized training for some of our military does include waterboarding. I cannot understand how some think that the methods that were used were so clearly illegal. I think it obviously was not clear, it was open for interpretation. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I think it is open to interpretation exactly what is an illegal act in this case. I think that the definition of what was to be allowed at the time was not at all so clear, and required interpretation. That interpretation was provided to them. Even ordinary criminals are subjected to many types of threats, intimidation, and uncomfortable environments by police. I can't check out the link yet, but the harsh methods I've heard of include slapping-to startle, sleep deprivation, and confinement with a caterpillar. If that is torture, then the meaning of that word has completely changed. Basic training in the military includes some of those things. If water boarding is torture, why is it OK to do that to some of our military as part of their training? The official denial of the bow wallows in a vast sea of lameness. The bow is just a courtesy, should not be taken as a sign of submission, etc. I would, however, have been happy if the bow had been about 1/10th as deep, no more than a slight lowering of the head is appropriate for the asshole Saudi king. I saw Margaret Thatcher curtsy to the piece of shit, that really looked ridiculous. It certainly looks inexcusable. However, it also looks like the guy may have been ignoring orders from the police to get moving, get out of the area. Instead he is barely walking, hands in his pockets, head down, intentionally disobeying orders from the police. I do not believe that a person just walking home from work would behave that way if he didn't intend to be at least a passive protester (as if he would have been sitting down/refusing to move). A passive protester shouldn't be treated as he was, but he surely didn't look as innocent as suggested. What level of consumption is not greed? Perhaps the standard of living in Afghanistan is your target? Basically the same question I just posed to rhys is at issue. Certainly the US emits a lot of CO2/person, but many countries with less consumption/person do a great deal of harm to the environment in terms of other nasty types of pollution. I'm sure it is much more satisfying to pick on the US than to criticize others. What is that population/energy use ratio for other countries, such as those in Europe or Canada? Is that OK? What level of energy use would you say is OK? Should there be limits enforced for energy use on the individual level, so that even a relatively wealthy person in Tibet is limited in their energy use? The rights all should share are the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The lack of those rights in much of the world is due to the unequal distribution of freedom, which will not be fixed by lowering the living standard of others. Just looking for opinions or feedback / Canopy models
sundevil777 replied to Tuna-Salad's topic in Gear and Rigging
As others have aaid, you would be much better off under a 210 size wing. You'll still be able to have plenty of fun. A lot of very experienced jumpers load their wings at 1.2 and below. There is a lot to be said for the ability to walk without a limp as you grow old, and hospitals suck. Also, get the container properly sized for the canopy you start with, not the one you figure on downsizing to later. No reason to think it is a lie? You know very well there are so many sources of information that allow you to know the truthers are lying to you. To pretend otherwise is an intentional self deception, at best. You are correct that you are being ridiculed, but that is putting a nice face to it. I suppose there is some pride to be taken by the truthers knowing the real opinion that others have of them, and in this respect, I suspect you are very happy. Your claims to be willing to be skeptical of the truther's claims I think is just a way to draw us into further debate - to keep us feeding the trolls. You don't need any further help from us to find the truth. I suppose that the south park episode might be correct, perhaps it is good that some people think government is actually able to do what you claim. The buildings managed to hold the weight if the structure for almost 3 decades. the buildings were designed to carry massive weight. and they did that until the point in which they gave way completely. The whole truth movement is not about trying to discover the answers themselves, it is about having an new impartial investigation so these things can be determined without deciet or secrecy. You are asking me, a skydiver to produce answers that you are sure that I cant answer in thier detailed entirety, and will use that as a basis to say I am wrong. I didn't expect you to have the answer, but you should expect the experts to which you refer to have the answer. To have no estimate for this effect, just to say it wasn't enough, is bullshit. The building was designed to hold it in a static condition, not when it is moving, crashing down on itself. You got nothing if there is no target for the effect you claim should have happened. "they fell at virtual freefall speed" meaning from when they started to fall until the completed falling. Terminal velocity would be questionable here due to the displacement of air and the obstruction of fragments of the building and the structure itself. I still can't tell if you know enough physics to understand what you think you're claiming. What you should be saying, I think, is that the ACCELERATION of the building (therfore the velocity as time progressed) is comparable to freefall. That gets back to my earlier question, how close to a freefall acceleration should be expected due to the lower levels of the structure slowing it down? If you can't state what you expect, and a basis for that, then you got nothing. An earlier post disputed the accel/speed measurements you claim to support a conspiracy. What do you say to that? Seems VERY important to your assertions. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. You have a problem with how fast the buildings fell, basically asserting the lower part of the building didn't provide enough resistance. Are you able to claim how much it should have been slower than if there were no resistance from the rest of building below? I think it is important to know how much you think it missed the mark? If you, or the experts you cite, cannot provide a target value they would have accepted, then you have no basis to argue your assertion. The amount of time it would take an object to fall from a height, with the assistance of gravity, without any significant resistance, aside from the usual resistance of the earths atmosphere. A strange question from a skydiver? So, you're saying that "freefall speed" is a measure of time? A strange answer from a skydiver.
