  5. Sweet... I'll just puke by 7:00 PM by drinking a Syrup of Ipecac cocktail, then renourish until 11:00. It's in the bag My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  6. That must have been pretty fun. The trash bag is ok for kicks and would pretty much open on heading by putting it into the air on heading. Here's another good way usin the BASE harness under the skydiving rig idea. -Take a standard deployment bag with inboard line stows and put a small handle on each side of it for ease of handling -Sew a Pilot chute pouch on the bottom of the bag. Pack the canopy up like normal into the deployment bag. and then carry it in front of you. Expose the cutaway handle to the outside of the BASE rig harness enough to grab it in case you need to or want to cutaway. Just leave the airplane back to relative wind and throw the pilot chute and let go. Have fun! My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

Greetings Ryan, that should have been multiple choice cuz I use all of them. Take a wild guess as to what my handle is on all of them. For those geeks that can't speak SkydvinRyan, here's a translation. Hello kind people from Dropzone dot com. I say kind lightly because you really are a sarcastic bunch, which of course includes me... sorry.... anyway, I've just installed MSN messenger on my computer and would like to chat with y'all or some a y'all. (did I put the apostophe in the correct location? My MSN messenger name is skydivinryan@hotmail.com so please add me to your list and send me a message. Have a good week and blue skies!!! Chat with you soon
  11. That to me seems like the only rules should be... don't be stupid. Yeah, that's a dumb rule but it's realistic. Packing errors.. you should see how some people pack and have for 10 years withough incident. How do you determine an error besides it malfunctioning? Flying to the base of the climbout intentionally is pretty dangerous as well so no intentionally landing in the rocks. I would almost suggest that if at all possible land in the big landing area to avoid low deployments and short canopy rides. However, that's kinda tough sometimes too. I use a slider if I'm jumping all day, I've had real short rides using a 2 second delay so hmmmmm... ponder that for a while. Cutting away unless you are in the trees, injured or going to drown is plain stupid so that one fits in the don't do stupid things category. Edit: Gear checks are a very good Idea That's my initial 2 cents. Perhaps I'll work my way up to 4 or even 6 as time passes. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... 13. Yes... the original Raven sucked. There's not many around anymore. If I recall, the material it was made from was 3-5 CFM F-111 instead of 0-3 CFM f-111. In other words, the permeability of the fabric started out pretty high. It opened slow and that's not a good thing for a reserve. There was a service bulletin regarding the replacement of the standard sail slider with a bikini slider so it would open quicker. The airfoil changed from the Raven to Super Raven as well. 14. This will not be used for BASE so I wouldn't worry too much. Ravens are not prone to line twists or off heading openins to begin with so it will not be an issue. Even a Raven with spectra will be a close enough comparison if that's what comes available. If we were talking about BASE, my suggestion would have nothing to do with microline. 15. I'll email chris this link and see if he'll comment on it himself. May take a couple days. If he doesn't post himself I'll paste what he wants me to. Chris has always been conservative. By that I mean he was never radical. He has progressed to be a very good canopy pilot. He didn't go cross braced but that boy can sure fly a Stiletto when he wants too. If I recall correctly (and I may not) he started on static line and back then he probably weighe a whole lot less. Stay tuned! My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... 16. You pulled off all those moves ... you just did it horizontally. PM me your phone number so I can get my brace. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  17. Yep!.. "they" did.. meaning riggers made them for themselves and other skydivers. The first *commercial* soft link I saw was made by Parachutes de France but I don't know if they were the first to make them available from the factory. 18. How old school? I don't know how long soft links have been around but the first links I saw, were when I started jumping 15 1/2 years ago. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

  21. Nevertheless those belong to the container. uh... thanks Don't worry, I sent them back. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  22. Are they at least put on a zip tie or something? PD quit putting their canopies on links but at least they're put on a card with the plastic mini ties. One reserve was sent to me loosely daisy chained starting about 2 1/2 up the lines with out links. The canopy was stuffed all crumpled up into a bag. That one sucked The one sent in the best condition is my current reserve. It was sent on a card and was pulled out of the rig perfectly packed. It was a shame to actually redo the pack job. At least tell the people who sent it to you that way not to do that next time. 24. Yeah, it could have been more used, who knows ... and the opposite may have been true in my case as well. I put a BUNCH of jumps on an old Fury and a fair amount on a brand new one and I remember quite well that the openings were great even on the new one. I was jumping a Hi 8 camera and a Nikon 2000 metal body still camera at the time so the ablity to make it open consistantly soft was important. I deduce from Avery's post that he preferred the Raven as well but I wonder if it's because of the size. 220 Fury versus a Raven III (I think) I believe you are correct about the slider down opening characteristics. I kinda think we're splitting hairs on this to be honest. Ravens were designed to open fast which is why they were good for BASE. They are good mains as well. They have a shallower angle of attack.. meaning they point down more. To be quite frank, I bet at the same wingload, it would be close enough that it wouldn't matter on a skydiving rig.
