I've been out of the sport for a while and thinking about getting back in. I still have my gear, but my AAD is expired and I'm looking for a new one. I saw the price of the M2 in Paragear. Thoughts? I've been completely out and haven't been looking at gear or keeping up with new technology, so please forgive my ignorance if this AAD has already been addressed. I never said they shouldn't be, you've completely missed my point. As far as politically motivated investigations, I merely accept the political aspect, it comes with willingly putting on the funny outfit. Merely semantics, I'm not surprised they made a conclusion, because that's what they do. What those conclusions are remain to be seen. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

I'm sure there was an underlying current, there usually is in every community. Learning how to channel it and use it to your advantage is always best for the entire community. I said before, some DOJ interventions have had great success, hopefully this one will. I've also said that Darren Wilson used poor tactics, those tactics may have made a bad situation worse. Good organizations are introspective and strive to improve, some need to be pushed, maybe that's the case here. Only time will tell. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

People can twist stats to meet their agenda, if there were problems then I hope they are corrected. Some DOJ interventions have been successful, others just added another bureaucratic layer to an already difficult job. We'll see Every organization can improve, you've missed my entire point. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

I never said dishonestly, I said politically motivated/influenced. If you dig deep enough, you can always find something. It's as true in police work as it is Quality Assurance for other occupations. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

No, You and Grue assume every cop thinks everyone in the public is a threat. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

A bunch of lawyers who want to climb the corporate ladder, politically appointed, from Washington DC descend on a town. And you don't think they are going to find SOMETHING to justify their existence. They came blazing looking for criminal charges, they could not justify those, so they give this. Not surprising. I'm not saying Ferguson didn't have problems, the racial components to this are many and varied. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

Exactly, why should they be treated differently. Do you condemn the entire profession when a pilot fucks up? A doctor? The answer is no. I've never said things should never be questioned to prevent them from happening again. I've been in critical incident debriefs that were absolutely brutal, and these were for events that had gone relatively well. As a tactical team we were always looking to improve. Questioning authority is a good thing, I've never said it's not. But the media can be very disingenuous when it comes to reporting law enforcement issues. In one paragraph you basically call me a whiner, then say you couldn't do this job. All LEO's want is balanced reporting and the benefit of the doubt in incredibly difficult and dangerous situations. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

Correctly is a matter of opinion and perception, my entire point. The agenda pushed by the 24 hour news cycle is to sell ad space, not report relevant facts. Did Darren Wilson do his job correctly? "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

http://m.reviewjournal.com/news/las-vegas/air-force-veteran-fired-23-shots-he-was-killed-police They tried to negotiate with this guy for 50 minutes, all the while he was firing shots. It ended badly for him, and I'm sure many will still blame the police. I actually worked with this guy for a short time during my military career, didn't know him. We had a similar incident in our area a couple years ago where a vet came unhinged, the agency used an MRAP as rolling cover. He shot the MRAP up, and eventually was wounded and taken into custody after opening fire after numerous hours of negotiations. My point being in both cases responding officers showed incredible restraint at the cost of their personal safety. You never see reoccurring 24 hour news cycle coverage of these situations. The sad thing is this is how the vast majority of these situations are handled, by using incredible restraint. The 24 hour news cycle would lead you to believe the opposite. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=ed4_1425534410 This is what happens when a taser is effective, in the LA case it was ineffective. The circumstances were also different, the guy in LA was actively fighting/assaulting someone when they arrived. They had to intervene immediately and in close quarters, and the guy attempted to take an officers gun. The type of incident in the video happens all the time, but rarely makes anything but local news. Officers use less lethal force or de-escalate the situation using Crisis Intervention techniques without using deadly force all the time, even when deadly force would be justified. Yep, The dude made a mistake, a deadly one, and a criminally negligent one. Do people die when you make a mistake a work? Medical mistakes kill THOUSANDS of people yearly, when a pilot fucks up he/she can kill tens to hundreds. You are leaving out the millions of police contacts yearly that don't in controversy, many under very difficult circumstances. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

An enemy of my enemy is my friend........ Kinda like cops using informants, some duplicitous people.......... "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!" -
Thank you for that riveting commentary, I am kind of slow so I provided a quote as to the "victim" in this case. I realize your intellectual prowess and resistance is futile, but indulge me for a moment. I'd like to see who thinks fighting in the street (or in a tent), fighting armed people who are trying to break up the fight, then attempting to take a gun from one of those armed people is a good idea. Even someone with an 80 IQ, prolly knows that ain't smart. The initial employment of less lethal measures was not effective and the fight escalated. Short of having a secret-decoder ring with flying net attachment, the result was predictable. Sad, but predictable. But, I'd venture to say you've never had to fight a highly agitated, mentally ill former bank robber before. I'd venture the officers hadn't either............. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2015/02/18/boston-no-jumping-snow-walsh/23607093/ Over 30 yrs ago in Denver we used to do this, and it was fun. Twenty of those GI issue trash cans filled by a Squadron of Airman can make one helluva snow pile. The third story was especially fun, all until one daredevil broke his leg. The commander didn't find it amusing and gave the dude an Article 15. But that was the military, to all Bostonian's I say leap on for freedom!!!! Could be the birth of the "Snow Party" political movement!!! "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

Ah yes, semantics aren't they fun......... I don't base the need for criminal prosecutions on media reports. If these guys framed a guy intentionally then criminal charges are in order. You or I know nothing of this case other than media reports, there may be much more to the story. When an officer intentionally acts with criminal intent outside the scope of his employment and authority, there should be criminal charges. Criminal negligence is another area, a shooting in South Carolina is a recent example. The officer panicked and shot a guy for reaching into his car for his wallet. It was a mistake, but a criminally negligent one, resulting in criminal charges, and rightly so. I've seen politically motivated prosecutions of cops, each time a jury saw through it and acquitted. This was prevalent after Rodney King, and I'll venture to say it will happen after the latest rounds of controversy. Although Rodney King was an actual injustice/crime, Michael Brown and the guy in New York were not. They were ginned up by the 24 news cycle and by people who make a living at ginning things up. There were numerous things reported that at the least were incorrect, at the most simply made up. Not to say there were no mistakes made in the response, because there were. Now I'll sit back and watch the flames......... "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!" -

What would you like me to say? I've said this many times in these forums, when cops do dumb or criminal shit they should be disciplined, fired, or in some cases criminally charged. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!" -
Great advice, Worked for me............ "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

Other than a possible small blurb, you will not see this on the national 24 hour news cycle. This incident ACTUALLY HAPPENED, unlike the reporting of MRAPS being used in Ferguson. http://dailyridge.com/headlines-now/2015/02/09/suspect-in-gun-battle-with-pcso-swat-died-from-self-inflicted-gunshot-wound/ The MAXXpro MRAP was used as LE intended it to be, rolling cover. A perfect example of the benefits of the 1033 LESO Program. This vehicle saved lives, no doubt. A SWAT Medic was shot in the early stages of the incident. The MRAP functioned as a rescue vehicle and took numerous AK rounds. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
