  1. Cops are bad.........hmmmmkkkkk http://abc7.com/sports/lapd-youth-sports-program-changes-hearts-minds-in-watts/906307/ "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  2. There are millions upon millions of police contacts yearly, many under very difficult circumstances, a very, very small percentage end on controversy. Those are facts. The video cites it's sources, just because you don't like the stats, doesn't mean they are wrong, inaccurate, or propaganda. It gives a good perspective to the misinformation reported as fact by the 24 hour news cycle. I've had this discussion ad-nauseam............ (cat goes back to chasing it's tail) "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  3. I say the same thing at virtually all scenes/situations I go to, until I hear both sides unless I was there. I withhold judgment. Those scenes number well into the thousands. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  4. I.........just............don't............know............. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  5. A tactical mistake, then again the entire situation could be a big mistake. You or I don't know the all the facts. This is fun, kind of like a cat chasing it's tail. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  6. Here we go again.......... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRd5oucG114 I do this everyday, can you say the same? "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  7. Throw yourself into thousands of fucked up situations, many that defy any reason or cause. Then do so on purpose, where these things happen often, and see why you look at things with a bit more of a critical eye. Do that and we'll talk. I call things as I see them, always have, always will. There are always two sides to every story, we don't know the other side. But youtube and the internet make us all experts. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  8. Yawn............ If there wasn't more to it, and the officer got pissed off and acted that way, he should be out of a job. BUT, you or I have no idea what led up to this. I've been in enough messed up situations to withhold judgment unless I have ALL information. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  9. You simply choose not to read. If this guy wasn't armed, or there is isn't a significant threat or history, the officer should be looking for another job. I'm pointing out there could be (and usually is) more to the story. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  10. What's bullshit is an edited video with no context. We'll see how this shakes out. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  11. If the guy has a history of prior contacts, involving violence or weapons. My guess is there is an extensive history between this guy and the PD. With that said, if the guy is just a pain in the ass, then the officers actions were not warranted and he should be looking for another job. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  12. Sorry, Thanks for making it clicky......... "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  13. There MAY have been threats and weapons involved, if not then I agree with you. I haven't seen this reported in the media much, so I'd bet there is much more to it. But who knows.......... "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  14. There is no video of what led up to this, I'm sure there was some type of incident between the two before this video started. I'd be curious to find out what that was, and if any threats were made (actual or implied) previous to the video. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  15. http://www.tampabay.com/news/weather/tampa-bay-region-hit-by-more-heavy-rains-looks-for-relief/2239866 Humvees too, these are actual uses, not ones invented by the media or hysteria crowd. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  16. This guy is just piling on the media generated hysteria. While I applaud his service, police and the military are separate. He knows as much about being a cop as I do about being in the infantry. The two do intersect at limited times, simply because police departments are (and always have been) paramilitary organizations. It would be fairly safe to say this came in as burglary in progress. Even in the "good old days" the response would have been the same. This has nothing to do with the "militarization" of the police. It's simply an incident that happened, and it was a mistake with no malice intended. By his own admission the officers tactics were sound, what he said could have happened didn't. As a matter of fact, in the "good old days" the response would have been less tactically sound and professional. This was a mistake that happens often, I've been involved in several SNAFU's like this. In this case it happened, was dealt with professionally, and life went on. Room clearing is room clearing, police have become much better trained at doing this. I challenge anyone here to listen to the radio tapes of any recent active shooter incident. In the "good old days", these incidents would have been utter chaos with much different endings. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  17. It would appear the officer was spun around. The car ended up stopping farther up the street, to the left. I'd say the car slid up the guardrail until it came to rest. The distances involved will be key, video is good but is still subject to interpretation, physics and forensics not so much. I think the kid made a really bad mistake, one that came after a series of poor tactics and choices. All these factors in total will lead to a reckless/wanton situation, not murder. It will shake out, but the mob my not be satisfied, to many detractors facts don't matter. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  18. Not sure, Would appear the same direction. His car ended up farther up the street, on the left part of the corner. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  19. This is a good observation, he initiated the struggle, one that was not necessary at that point. He also leaned into the car, a very poor tactical decision. These could be policy violations, these policies are in place to prevent exactly what happened, from happening. When it all went bad he immediately drew his weapon and fired, there should be other options available before escalating that fast. I'm curious to see what detailed analysis shows from the video. I've included a picture of what his supporters are saying shows he was dragged. It would be interesting to see the actual measurements. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  20. I agree, There are many explanations, very few lead to an intentional act. I think the kid just overreacted, panicked, or a combination of both. Putting a young university cop in this situation was a bad ides to begin with. For those not familiar, the University Of Cincinnati is located in the city with potentially dicey neighborhoods on all sides. They were contracted with to assist the Cincinnati Police with off-campus patrols in the vicinity of the university. I'm not disrespecting the university police, they operate in a different environment, using them to police inner-city neighborhoods is just not a good idea. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  21. Exactly true BUT: It went from 0-100 in less than a second, it was a really poor decision to reach into the car. Unless you are trying to save someone's life, reaching in a car hardly ever has a good outcome, and is a bad tactical decision. LEO's make split-second decisions, he unnecessarily escalated the situation, the decision was self induced and most likely a violation of policy. This was also a University officer, not a city cop, there is a big difference between the two. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  22. Can't and won't defend this one. At the very least the officer made a very bad tactical use of force decision, at the most it was a conscious act. The Hamilton County Prosecutor doesn't play games, if he says he is going after this guy, he will. If any other officers made false statements he will go after them too. This is the second incident in the last year, where I shake my head and say "why would you do that". With that said the guy is innocent until proven guilty, and deserves due process just like anyone else. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  23. Ahem............... "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  24. Voir Dier gives a whole new meaning to profiling, depending which side you are on. Hopefully there will be a change of venue, I think a case can be made after the media circus in Baltimore. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  25. Some will, some won't. But remember we are basing all this on media accounts. If there is some kind of prosecution bombshell that could change the dynamics, things could change, but I doubt it. Juries can be unpredictable as well, we'll see. I'd be surprised if someone pleas. I hear all this bullshit about the "Thin Blue Line" of silence, cops will roll just like anyone else, sometimes more so, I've seen it happen. This is something different, the prosecution created a high burden of proof, I don't think they can reach it. Like I said, this thing is going to be interesting. It's obvious they violated policy, taking that to a murder charge is going to be extremely difficult. We'll see, meanwhile Baltimore burns............. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
