  1. That's why I said "it's been reported". A French actor was quoted that he observed crew members run and lock themselves in a compartment. Initial media reports are often wrong, it's called Run, Hide, Fight. Not everyone has the disposition to fight. You may be making assumptions on implications in my post that were not intended. 2. Making you nervous huh? His ego will cause him to step on his dick, it's fun to watch him treat the 24 hour news cycle, like some of them need to be treated. But he'll most likely fade, we'll see. But please have the Dems nominate Sanders, that almost guarantees a Republican in 2016. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  3. See above............ "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  4. Not Marines, USAF and National Guard, two things near and dear to me. Great Job. An active response is the only way to deal with these active killers. Google ALICE training, or Run, Hide, Fight. It's been reported the train crew did the run and hide part, letting the rest of the passengers do the fighting......go figure..... "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

  6. This is the best perspective EVER........... http://rhinoden.rangerup.com/time-to-welcome-a-new-era-of-rangers-army/ "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  7. If they met the standards, good for them and congrats! If they "modified" the standards in anyway, then the tab was not earned. Combat isn't a game, there are no prizes for second place. Physiologically women are not set up for intense, prolonged, ground combat. If the few that are pass the same standards designed to test and break men, I have no problem with it. 8. Some of it is, especially regarding Ferguson and use of force, and it comes from the far left and far right.. It always has been, some officers fall right into the trap of some of these guys, who simply antagonize to get a reaction. For many of these "activists" or people who are mad at the police, it is a fine line between recording and interfering. It doesn't bother me in the least bit, I've been wearing a body camera since 2009. BUT if you interfere, you go to jail. Some of these "activists' want to debate politics as well, on the street, during an incident. Again, if they interfere or incite, they go to jail. Recording from a safe distance is fine. Well no shit, I've been doing it for almost 30yrs. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  9. Louisiana is and always has been one of the most, if not the most corrupt state government. What does that have to do with the thread YOU started, and my reply? One of the main points the DOJ stated in Ferguson was the municipal court system was using minority citizens as "ATM's". I've always said that municipal/mayors courts promote enforcement as revenue sources. If you remove a financial incentive, enforcement is based on needs and safety. It's the politicians pushing enforcement in those environments many times. Using district type courts takes revenue generation largely out of the equation, that is a good thing. I have no financial incentive to write tickets or make arrests, I never have. There are still federal traffic grants that pay overtime for traffic enforcement. These grants are largely based on location and traffic collision stats. They are designed to reduce accidents and increase traffic safety. Evidently in Ferguson the local court was raking in money on arrest fines and warrant fees. These don't go away with district courts, but the reasons for the arrests and tickets aren't tied with local revenue generation. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  10. Politics at it's finest, A knee jerk reaction to a completely false narrative, proven false by several layers of investigation (including the DOJ), and perpetuated as true by numerous media outlets. Getting rid of municipal and Mayors courts, and switching to district type courts, making enforcement more revenue neutral. Would be an actual solution to problems found in Ferguson. The "other" problem was not true, and was a result of criminal/assaultive behavior. But politics do not work that way, so things change, and they are directed mainly at the cops. I hope many areas of the country enjoyed their historically low crime rates. They are about to become a thing of the past, and those most vulnerable will suffer the most. This is already happening in many urban areas throughout the country regarding violent crime. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  11. There is no link, Through almost 30yrs and thousands of hours of training, the number was quoted to me, at some point it was accurate, it is no longer. The internet makes everyone an expert. I've had people try to get to my weapon on several occasions during fights, none were successful. In the 80's I had a guy run from me, when I caught him he decided to fight, he broke my jaw, and got me into a headlock. At one point I was very close to losing consciousness, I also came very close to shooting him. The guy was unarmed, but an unconscious cop is easily disarmed. I eventually won the fight, but sometimes cops don't. I'm sorry I misquoted a stat, it might be because sometimes I don't sleep well because my jaw is still fucked up, who knows. I don't just sit and pound a keyboard, I live this stuff.......... "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  12. I make a mistake, then make an attempt at humor, the results are like a scene out of grumpy old men......... An accurate statement would have been "at one time, up to 33% of officers were killed with their own guns". The causes of officers deaths are dynamic stats that change yearly. I've been out of the formal training business for a while, the stat I quoted was old and out of date evidently. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  13. My numbers were old, so am I, so sue me, it does happen still more than it should. High retention level holsters have reduced this number significantly. I had one try to grab mine during a fight a couple years ago, mine worked. Didn't work out so well for him............ As far as suicides go, I've had two friends do it in the last year. The dangers of police work aren't just physical, both were good people fighting demons no one knew about. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  14. 33% of officers killed are killed with their own firearms....... "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  15. Read the entire post, But it was much harder to be a Brown Shirt, because they respected everyone's right to bear arms to a fault. No I'm not playing fast and hard, nor am I reaching for straws......... We've already had this discussion at some point........... "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  16. Really? Yes, I am part of the problem evidently because I don't feel the "Hitler wasn't that bad" argument isn't the best course of action. But hey, next time I try to use a sense of humor with the intellectual crowd, I'll think twice. You have a nice day! "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  17. FACTS aren't excuses. Sure if you were a member of the party, if you weren't I know that wasn't frowned upon.......... Again, wow, just wow.......... "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  18. You are defending Nazi's as well? I'm sure gun ownership was awesome in the Third Reich,..........if you were a Nazi........... Wow, this is the worst case of moral relativism I've ever seen. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  19. Isn't there already a thread on this? They should be fired, period. If they took items that didn't belong to them, they should be charged as well. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  20. I agree, I've said this ad-nauseam as well, I knew someone would bring this up. When I trained guys I'd tell them if they thought they walked the line of death everyday, they'd be wrong. Policework is mainly hours of mundane tasks, interrupted by moments of sheer terror and despair. One needs to be ready for those moments at all times, they can come at anytime and anyplace. Police work is uniquely dangerous, it includes the human factor, where potential things that could injure or kill you plot, plan, and can strike at anytime without warning. By definition cops live in various states of hyper-vigilance, that's what makes the danger unique. Like a sign at the dropzone said, "you can do everything right, and still end up dead". Cops resign themselves to that fact daily. I told the young guys to embrace that, use good judgment and trust the training, and you can mitigate that significantly. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  21. Making excuses for Nazi's Actual Nazi's That is a new all time low for you. Gotta love academia............. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  22. Uhhh...........nope.......... People attack cops with those, like I said there are vast numbers of use of force situations where the outcome is not lethal force. I can tell it to you this way, I know HUNDREDS of cops, I only know a handful that have ever used lethal force. The ones I do know are good guys, who did what they had to do. They aren't proud of it, they don't broadcast it, and it still effects them deeply. Of all the cops I know, almost every one has had a situation where they could have used deadly force, but didn't. I've had several, each time the persons actions put them in jeopardy, I was simply reacting. The notion that the police are just randomly going around shooting people is complete bullshit. We live in an armed violent society, that is the reality. Do cops make mistakes, yes they do, do cops go into work thinking "I'm gonna shoot someone today", absolutely not. I've mentioned before I met a Sgt. from London Metro PD, he openly stated he can't figure out how or why we police here. He said he'd never be able to do it, same with a few other international cops I've met during my travels. So keep bashing, meanwhile your local police are out in your community trying to do the best they can, doing an extremely difficult job. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  23. Confiscating guns 80 yrs ago worked out so well for your country.................. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  24. There is a gun at every scene, and "so many" is complete BS. Knifes, cars, BB guns, realistic air soft guns, flag poles, shovels, the list goes on. I've said this more than once, fight an armed guy, you do so at your own peril. This happens hundreds of times yearly, but is seldom reported past local news. For the 24 hour news cycle it's turned in to a game of piling-on. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=f16_1439047365 Meanwhile cops continued to do a difficult and dangerous job. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  25. It's really easy, We deal with an ever increasingly armed populace. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
