Umm.. it's over! Was that as good for you as it was for me? Safe swoops Sangiro

I have a few errors on one of the site hard-drives. We're replacing that before it becomes a problem. The site will be down for 5 minutes later today. I know this will lead to withdrawal in some individuals so now may be a good time to send someone to go get you cigarettes, or gum, or.... whatever! Safe swoops Sangiro

Did you do a search across all the forums. It's good NETetiquette to do so before you ask..... Safe swoops Sangiro

Click on "Skydivers" in the left navigation bar on the Home Page. Then click on "Power Search" on the page that comes up. Look for the "Home DZ" field. Fill in something like "Skydive xxxx" or just "xxx" (as 'skydive' is a very common word).... Safe swoops Sangiro

No. It's just that, well, when you've just built something you're always first and alone in the beginning... It's kind of like: Cool, Now I have a web site... wonder if anyone will notice or find it!? Safe swoops Sangiro

Yes. I remember those days too. In fact, I remember when I just registered. I came to the forums, looked around and thought: "I won't let this little set-back get me down, I'll just talk to myself!" It was a traumatic time in my life. It's still hard to talk about it! Safe swoops Sangiro

I don't think those are "good" threads. They simply create work for me and place us in a position where we have to police adults like kids. Safe swoops Sangiro

Scott53 - you just blew it. Heather obviously doesn't want to hear from you. You're new and it seems like the only reason you registered is to stalk one of my users and to attack another. You're the weakest link. Good bye! Safe swoops Sangiro

If he breaks the rules I'll deal with it. Beyond that, everyone is welcome to post here. Safe swoops Sangiro

Mike, Please refrain from launching personal attacks in these forums. Safe swoops Sangiro

With all due respect... how do you know this? You just registered today. Send her a PM. She will see your posts here if she hangs out in these forums and will contact you. I suspect people here are not just going to give out personal information to someone who've only been on these forums for a day. Safe swoops Sangiro

I have a Safire 1. Standard set-up. The only thing I've changed is I had my steering lines shortened a bit to help with my landings... thats' it. I love the openings. The openings are soft and the snivels are not too long.

I deleted this attachment. Before you post rubbish like this to my site, ask yourself if you really think we want to see it, or if you think this is why I built this forum in the first place. There are loads of other places on the web where you can share this kind of stuff. Don't waste my bandwidth. Use your common sense. Safe swoops Sangiro

Tom, This does not currently exist. I'll look to see if there's a way to do this. In the meantime you should not be too concerned about the space taken up by PMs. In general PMs are small and take up very little space. Safe swoops Sangiro

Folks, A quick reminder: If you're a rigger, check out the Stolen Gear database . There are 65 items listed already. Print out this screen and check the serial numbers when you receive gear to work on. On the Stolen Gear main page there's a search function where you can type a serial number or part thereof and see if it's listed as stolen. Also, consider subscribing to the newsletter so we can send you updates when additional items are listed as stolen.

Heya, I jump a Safire 149 loaded at 1.35. Two weeks ago at Eloy I opened at the end of an uneventful skydive and a normal track and wave-off. Safires are known for their great openings and mine is no exception. On this occasion the opening was brisk (not hard) but more weird than anything else. I opened with half a line twist and one brake line loose. Very off-heading. The twist came out quickly and I released the other brake to get myself out of the turn. The canopy flew normally. When I got to the ground and collected up my chute I realized that my pilot chute and D-bag was missing! Not much I could do about it except to see if I could find the missing gear. Fortunately someone had been watching my opening from the ground. (Gordo - thanks man!) According to him the opening looked like a real slammer from the ground. It did not feel like that to me at all. The short of the story is that the metal connector link (French Rapide Link) that connects my D-Bag and pilot chute to the top of my canopy had bent open. (See the attachment) I spoke with Bryan Burke and he mentioned that there are a few scenarios that can lead to this: 1) The link was not fastened or came loose 2) It was tightened too much and the nut cracked 3) It was tightened to much and the screw stripped In my case it was #1 Lessons learned: Check you connector links regularly. You may have 3 of these on your system. D-bag connection and on your risers (unless you have slinks). Plastic covers will help prevent them from coming undone. Use nail polish or something similar to seal the joint, this can give you an early warning if they start turning. If you use a packer (like I was that day) remind him/her to check these from time to time. That's all folks.

No problem! The culprit ended up being a very long PM, copy and paste of an IRC chat. We've applied a patch to the server and this should not be an issue in the future. It is not the length of the PM though, it is something in the content of that IRC chat - we're still trying to break it down and figure out what caused it.

Lolie, I'm going to delete a few of the last messages you received. I'll do them one by one but I suspect this error is caused by a specific message. Once we figure out which message we can start looking at what's unique about that message. The error happens when the server tries to interpret your messages. I know you wrote some in a foreign character set... that's obviously a possibility, although it should not be... Safe swoops Sangiro

There's more than 3000 pics right here on Dropzone.com... you'll have to be a bit creative to grab them though. Safe swoops Sangiro
