  1. And you can fly them with wingsuit flyers without making us work too hard. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
  2. Chart attached... annotated it a bit. You'll notice that the flat spin didn't change my general velocity. By the time the spin was over, I had the same fall rate that I would have had without it. Somewhat of a testament to ability to perform aerobatics without the eventual fall rate loss (even though these "aerobatics" weren't intentional). I'm borrowing an unmodded Eclipse with Crossfire 2 until I get my new main (Sabre 2) and my rig back together, so I'm spending a good ten - fifteen seconds burning off forward speed before deploying. Not something I want to do on every jump, but I must say, it works very well. I've had nothing but excellent openings with this setup, though I still highly recommend against, especially for those just starting out. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
  3. Got some hybrid tracking dives in yesterday. First on was me in a freefly suit, G.Hop in his Pantz, and TALONSKY in his S3, and we managed to stay together really well. Did a couple more where TALONSKY and I had S3s and Grasshopper flew his Pantz. Pics and video to come. Long story, but my camera was destroyed (saved the tape, no, the helmet did not fall off of my head). Got third place (out of three teams) in the freefly video contest that we entered at the last minute. Now everyone thinks that Grasshopper is the ubertracker. He is an ubertracker, but c'mon... not THAT uber. TALONSKY has a very cool way of flying very dirty without looking like he's flying dirty, so some very cool visuals were going on. BTW, at just under 6'4" and 220 lbs, TALONSKY stayed under 40 MPH for an extended period of time. Freaking awesome. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
  4. Took the suit headdown today and ProTracked it. I had my first flat spin during the pullout, and it really shows up in the chart. Wearing the PT in my front pocket. Dove to about 160 MPH, began the pullout and went to carve it, but over-rotated and spun, then fixed it and continued on. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
  5. Funny that you mention it. It took 290 wingsuit flights, but I finally got myself into a flatspin. I only took a couple seconds to correct it because of advice I've received. I balled up and it slowed down the spin. Threw a wing out and stopped it to return to normal flight. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
  6. I've flown headdown for almost the entire dive a couple times, and got up to 160 MPH (about 5 - 10 less than my normal headdown speed), with all the wings open, and could probably go faster with the wings collapsed. It's hell on your wings, though. Prepare to lose some of your stitching. I've seen and attempted sit/standflying, also for shits and giggles, and it's possible for a handful of seconds. I know one guy that tried skysurfing while wearing only a wingsuit top (don't know if he butchered a suit or had it custom made), and reported very poor results. Lots of spinning, as you can't perfectly line everything up. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

  12. It's the same concept as a tailpocket, but it's on the bag and closes with flaps. Just figure-8 the lines in the pocket, close it with a couple of flaps (four actually... not entirely certain that the two on the sides of the bag are necessary). Done! The lines leave the bag from the center of the pocket between the flaps, thus greatly reducing the chance of line twists and line dump. Stowing lines unevenly won't even be an issue, since they all run through the same "hole". "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

    S-Fly

Just got a reply back from Loïc. I asked him if the S-Fly is available, what it costs, are there custom sizes and colors, and about delivery time. This was his reply: That's a pretty good deal. 630€ to US $701.38 right now. I followed up to ask what the four stock colors are. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
  14. I strongly advice against chopping your wings in flight. As you experienced, it's actually not too tough to fly a blowout. However, it is very tough to fly with detached wings. I had a very, very jacked up mal experimenting with this. You definitely made the right choice on that flight. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
  15. Yeah, that color scheme is very nice. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
  16. I REALLY want one of those stowless d-bags. Was checking out Jay Mo's at the PST here. Too bad Wings doesn't have one. :( Think Javelin would make one for my rig? I hope they don't patent that idea. I'd like to see all d-bags go this way. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
  17. I'd think that too square of surface area would make you fly like a sheet of plywood. Ever seen a jet or plane that flies well without a stabilizer (that isn't computer controlled)? Neither have I. When I flew with Niels in his suit, it actually seemed to be stable, but not much else. It was pretty unresponsive to "steering input" and slid all over the sky, but never looked wobbly at all. The suit had a pretty thick profile, too, and probably induced a lot of drag, killing off a lot of forward speed. Inflated and floated like crazy, though. Looked pretty effortless. 21. Yeah, weird. I never heard of it, but it sounds similar to the one Niels made. I don't know abut a suit like that getting a better fall rate (more the flyer than the suit, anyway), as you need quite a bit of forward speed to get the really good fall rates (sub 40). Interested in learning more, though. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

  23. I think it's very cool of Fly Your Body to link to BirdMan's site, and even detail their buddy deal, right on their own site. Not too mention that the BirdMan site has a link to the video of Loic flying the S-Fly down the ski slope. It's kind of nice to think of them as two companies working towards the same goal, as opposed to just being competitors. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
  24. Their site isn't up yet, but the URL is http://www.flyyourbody.com. I think he's receiving his e-mail at info[at]flyyourbody.com*. E-mail him and ask what tha dealy-o. As I understand it, the S-Fly will be €100 - €150 less than the MTR-1. * "[at]"... don't want them getting spammed "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
  25. I fly the S3 and the GTi (about 90 and 190 flights respectively) on my Wings with open corners. I had a 108" bridle and 28" PC, and a very "square" bag that I always packed grommet to pin, but they were stolen after a chop. I've had line twists about five times, but they were all on my unmodded Racer Elite. My canopy was a Sabre 120, and my reserve is a PD-126. My incoming canopy is a Sabre2 107. Line twists never turned to spinners on me. The corner mods probably make the biggest difference, as line twists were virtually eliminated for me after this mod (half a twist at most on the rare occassion). I'm going up to a 12' bridle and the biggest collapsable PC I can get, as I have had a few hesitations and two PC in tows (pin extracted one and rode my reserve on the other). I didn't really have hesitation issues until I started flying the S3 (though my pin extraction happened on my GTi), which has a lot of surface area on it, and can fatigue you quite a bit, resulting in a weak pull. As "thin" as the burble is when flying a wingsuit, dead air is still dead air. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
